25.01.2022 To all our wonderful guests; if you are ever in need of accommodation in Port Macquarie Diana has recently opened up her lovingly restored historic home (an old Pineapple farm) to guests while she is here in the mountains with me :) Check it out if you love 'old stuff' as much as we do :) https://www.facebook.com/pineapplecottageportmacquarie

22.01.2022 Cancellation; 2 or 3 nights available in the River Hut commencing Sunday 15th November 2020. These nights are the only nights available in November in either hut and I am happy to offer a discount to normal rates for anybody interested. Rate will depend on number of guests and number of nights...

21.01.2022 A new operation of fun (e-bike tours) has started in the Snowies, check out their page :)

21.01.2022 Winter has return at Charlotte Pass . www.snowsearch.com.au Photo: @charlottepass_snow

20.01.2022 On Tuesday this week Diana and I escorted our River Hut guests, Henrik and Birthe, to the Main Range for a day walk. In the winter this area provides the most thrilling skiing available in Australia BUT in the summer it is equally spectacular in a different way! As is the case most years December still provides an opportunity to see snow at a time when the rest of the country is baking in near 40C temps! Over the years I learned not many Australians are aware of such stunning mountain terrain we have in our own back yard and it is accessible by nearly anybody of reasonable walking fitness! Get out there next time you visit and see for yourselves - you WILL be amazed, I promise :) PS And the Wildflowers are starting to come out now!!!

19.01.2022 THE MOONBAH LAKE HUT is available for 2 or 3 nights from this Monday 21st December 2020. If you feel like getting away for a short break before Christmas :) https://www.youtube.com/watch

19.01.2022 A few iPhone snaps from yesterday's snowstorm - shots taken early morning and then it did not stop snowing all day! By the end of the day I was starting to think maybe you can have too much snow sometimes! The whole region, shops petrol stations, everything lost power yesterday and we have been on generators now for 24 hours - but I no complain :)

18.01.2022 A little video that Steve Maxwell from Wilman Productions Focus From Above put together of areas we ride here in the mountains - looking forward to getting out there again later this week before all the snow is gone for another season :( https://vimeo.com/359177731

16.01.2022 A Qantas 747 Jumbo Jet just flew over the roof of the huts - I'm pretty sure I didn't imagine it - and no I've never done drugs!!!

14.01.2022 CANCELLATION - Lake Hut - 3 nights starting tomorrow night....the guests currently staying in the Lake Hut may have to leave in the morning to head home. If anybody wants Tues/Wed/Thurs nights in the Lake Hut, checking out Friday morning, please let me know - and yes SNOW IS FORECAST starting tomorrow :)

13.01.2022 The weather is closing in as I write this, they're predicting the best (dry) snowfall of the season starting around dawn here at the huts - bring it on :) https://www.mountainwatch.com//australian-forecast-monda/

13.01.2022 CANCELLATION - LAKE HUT - TOMORROW. I have a last minute cancellation for the Lake Hut for 2, 3 or 4 nights, starting tomorrow. Guests have had to cancel for medical reasons. Guests paid $325 per night but happy to discount depending on number of nights...these are the only nights available in the Lake Hut until December

12.01.2022 CANCELLATION - weekend in December in the Lake Hut I have a cancellation for a 2 night stay in the Lake Hut commencing Friday 18th December 2020. It's the only weekend available in either hut until January so please let me know ASAP if you want it...

10.01.2022 LOST/FOUND SUNGLASSES - have any of our guests lost a pair of expensive sunglasses in the past week or so? They were found on the other side of the river, opposite the River Hut? If so please let me know and I'll get them back to you...

10.01.2022 We have secured some wonderful local food suppliers for our guests staying at the huts that would like to celebrate a special occasion, or even have a break from cooking for even one night :) Options include cheese platters, special occasion cakes and even picnic hampers...in most instances a few days notice is all that is required, or for very special cakes maybe 7 days in advance. Here's an example for guests that were celebrating a special birthday these past few days...

10.01.2022 This old girl certainly produces some beautiful little calves!

09.01.2022 With the sun out today the big melt is on :( Have a look at the snowman & Buster next to him that some very clever little guests built!

07.01.2022 Who's watched the film The Man From Snowy River before? I'm a bit ashamed to say that until last night, when I watched both the film and it's sequel on TV, I've never seen them! It was amazing, I could smell the smoke of the camp-fire, smell the tall mountain ash forests, it felt like I was there! If you haven't seen it before set aside a couple of hours and sit back and soak it in - so iconic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08rdCBgP-GY

07.01.2022 No photos as yet, but building today like one of the top snowfalls here at the huts in decades - when it slows a little I am hoping to get out and take them photos :)

07.01.2022 I just received a CANCELLATION for a 3 night stay in the River Hut for Thurs 29th, Fri 30th & Sat 31st October 2020 - in the River Hut. These are the only nights left in either hut now until December so please let me know ASAP if you would like them :) The River Hut can sleep a max 5 persons and rates for these 3 nights start at $425 per night for 2 adults.

06.01.2022 EMAIL NOT WORKING MOONBAH HUTS ; Unfortunately we have had no email service since 11am yesterday morning! If anybody is trying to contact us please call Brett on 02-6457-8311

05.01.2022 This system looks about as cold & snowy as it gets

04.01.2022 My Mum was born in the middle of WW2. Today she was running around Darwin on an electric scooter she hired! She constantly tells us; "Age is just a number". She might be only 4 feet 11 inches tall (and shrinking) but she is a giant in our eyes! You are an inspiration to all 5 of your 'kids' Mum and we love you

04.01.2022 Buster when he smells bacon (or anything else) cooking. Moves okay for a 12 year old when he has to

04.01.2022 CANCELLATION: MAYBE! I may have a cancellation in the River Hut for tomorrow and Friday nights if anybody is interested? I haven't heard from guests that were to check-in tonight, in the River Hut, for 3 nights and unfortunately I have no contact details for them - maybe with all the drama 2020 has given us they forgot they booked this holiday in November last year! For those wanting to know about snow - It' starting to melt, slowly, but there is still lots here at the huts after the massive falls 2 days ago :) Rates for the River Hut are $625 per night and I will know first thing in the morning if they don't arrive overnight...

01.01.2022 24C yesterday and then snowing today - think we might head up for a snowshoe because it looks like they are getting plenty up higher :)

01.01.2022 GIFT CERTIFICATES FOR CHRISTMAS - Gift Certificates seem to be very popular this year (4 sold this morning!) They can be made out for any amount and if the recipient wants to stay longer, or during peak season they simply have the option to pay any extra upon booking their dates. They have no expiry and can be emailed if required...just call, or send Brett a message if you would like to purchase one :)

01.01.2022 A little clip about Moonbah Huts that we have put together to give people and insight into what you can do here in the NSW Snowy Mountains, in all 4 seasons of the year, not just winter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SqYttHV_NM&feature=youtu.be Thankyou to an incredibly talented videographer and good mate, Steve Maxwell, from Wildman Film Productions, who loves the mountains as much as I do and to Cameraman Paul Gordon for his skills behind the camera on our trips both here at the huts and in the high alpine rivers...
