21.01.2022 What a way to start 2021! Thank you Horse Deals for the opportunity to chat all things Hustler and also share the word on what our wonderful Australian Quarter Horses and Paint Horses can do in so many disciplines. Truly some of the most versatile and trainable horses I’ve worked with and I can’t wait to put a few hooves forward in 2021 in the dressage and show arenas

21.01.2022 2020 Wrap Up - Alexander Park Dressage (September) after 6 months of trying, we finally got our elementary debut! Despite a certain someone thinking the warm up was full of monsters I couldn’t have been more pleased to be back out sand dancing with my best partner. With some fabulous marks and lessons along the way, we kept on kicking to our next competition!.... until they were all cancelled because of a heat wave

20.01.2022 I’m a little late - but a July wrap up is certainly due! What a month it was in a year full of wonders. Where to begin? The Australian Youth Dressage Championships were our first step into the big league, and wow what an event! Although we left with lots to work on, it was nothing short of amazing to have my very own 4 year old out amongst some of our country’s best young riders and horses. Top 10 placing across the board isn’t bad, but let’s not forget the beginnings of upp...ing our movement game! On the pony side of our life, our precious Magic has certainly made his mark with his new family, earning himself 2 young girls as his best friends. Moonbah Castiel, out of my irreplaceable Willowcroft Ruby Slippers, has been sold to best home I could ask for. So excited to see him in the winners circle in years to come! It is the small things that count, as these photos show, my boys have their people and that’s all that matters. Where to next? That’s almost the end of the pony era... one beautiful boy to go. It’s bitter sweet, but I am just loving this Dressage journey, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Where else do you get to spend every day learning, training and riding such correctness, discipline and knowledge? My mind is blown by the day! No doubt this is to thank for being able to be in harmony with Hustler and others as they come along. We are keeping our fingers crossed that Dressage NSW Championships is next on our list, and with the news of being selected on the NSW team for PCA Nationals, there will be no slowing down for a while. Watch out for a debut of our lovely Prima Donna SP as well! Aren’t we lucky people Olivia Palfreyman

13.01.2022 2020 Wrap Up - Hunter Valley Hack and Breeds Show one more hacky endeavour had to make it into here what a fun filled show! Champion Led ANSA Champion Led AQHA Champion Led PHAA Winning ridden ANSA, AQHA and PHAA classes (no champion)... Wins in show Hunter classes Love this incredible horse

13.01.2022 How nice to be back at the NSW State Quarter Horse Championships after a couple of years off. We took our red head team - Hustler SP and Prima Donna SP - for the dressage and show hunter classes and are very pleased with their results. Hustler SP State Champion AOR Dressage (80% - receiving the award for the highest scoring dressage test of the day with an 11% lead in a very competitive field) State Champion Open Preliminary Dressage (75%)... Grand State Champion Show Hunter Hack State Champion Open Show Hunter over 15hh State Champion AOR Show Hunter Hack No less impressively, my golden girl Prima Donna SP came along for the ride and really worked hard to get through such tough, muddy and muggy conditions. I was pleased to see her place mid field in some very quality line ups with very respectable mid-60 scores! Young horses are very rewarding as they grasp the concepts of the training scale, and doing it this way leaves us with an end product of a confident, intelligent and humerous partner Congratulations must go both to the show committee and to our fellow competitors. The standard of horses in these classes was the best I have ever seen, in many classes 1st to 5th could have gone many ways! Looking forward to seeing what the year holds for our discipline in the QH industry. Thank you Ace Photography By Nicole Wilson for capturing these moments! Olivia Palfreyman Simone Palfreyman

13.01.2022 2020 Wrap Up - we are done! what a year. It’s difficult to describe it, such a challenging and difficult year but also one of our most successful. I just wish we could have shared it with friends a little more! The horses have exceeded expectations, bring home many accolades including the AQHA NSW Performance Horse of the Year for the 2nd year running, and I’ve been fortunate to have a few office professional work successes too and I best not forget graduating from one degree! We couldn’t have done this without our super helpers. Our sponsors Hairy Pony and Natures Farmacy - Equine, Animal and Human Herbal and Nutritional Medicine in particular. Thank you So that’s a wrap - see you all next year!

12.01.2022 I just love receiving messages and photos of our beautiful ponies at their equally beautiful homes. This is Magic (Moonbah Majestic Moment, our W. Regal Emblem x Beauparc Charm gelding) who was a very special Christmas present to lovely Bella from her parents, well earned after carefully looking after him for the last couple of months on lease! Definitely best friends and look at that pink!!!

11.01.2022 Where were we a year ago? Tamworth of course! We are very much missing attending Q20 Nationals, Congress & PHAA Nationals this year. Crazy to think last year it was a team of Hustler only and now we have 3 beautiful horses lined up and ready to go. Onwards we go, and some photo appreciation from 2019 is in order instead

08.01.2022 What a lovely surprise in the mail last week with Hustler SP’s Australian Quarter Horse Association High Point Performance Horse of NSW 2020 trophy arriving! We are always proud to fly the QH flag high in the open dressage and show ring and albeit being a shorter than normal season, this year was no exception to that thank you!

07.01.2022 The NSW Rural Fire Service have announced today that Tuesday 12th October will be CATASTROPHIC fire danger with extreme conditions forecasted. In the interest o...f our staff and their families, our office will be unattended on Tuesday. Please be vigilant and prepare yourself, your family and animals for what could come before the worst conditions hit. Some things to consider are: - do you have a bush fire emergency plan that all family members know? If not, or if you are unsure if it is adequate, please see here: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and/bush-fire-survival-plan - have you downloaded the NSW RFS ‘Fires Near Me’ app and set up watch zones that will alert you when a fire is near? This app also contains information on what to do before, during and after a fire impacts your property. - have you cleaned out gutters, removed rubbish piles and mowed long grass especially in the areas surround any buildings or lifestock? More tips can be found here: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-p/prepare-your-property - in addition to your bush fire plan, if you have livestock, do you have multiple plans for how to move them to safety, when, and where? Now is a good chance to touch base with some contacts in multiple directions of travel, and also to join emergency livestock groups in your area that can help with transport and places to take your animals. - do you follow your local RFS page on Facebook? These are often a good source of information before, during and after danger presents. Please remember that you and your family’s safety is priority, and often, the safest option is to leave early. If you see a fire unattended, be sure to call 000 immediately. We can only hope our district is spared the devastation experienced on the north coast currently, but, it is a brutal reminder of what fire can do!

07.01.2022 Wishing everyone the best of Christmases today. May your day be fun and filled with love and may the New Year be a bright one for you all

06.01.2022 2020 Wrap Up - Alexander Park Dressage (November) all I’ve talked about all year is getting Sarina to her first EA dressage comp and we FINALLY made it after 12 months of failed attempts due to fires, floods and then COVID. So you can imagine how excited I was to begin with, and how totally thrilled I was when she worked the house down to get 71%! This horse has a huge future ahead of her and I feel lucky to have the reins

06.01.2022 If you know me, you know I’m picky about my hot oils and what goes on my horses’ skin this hot oil has taken the cake so quickly for me!!! Definitely recommend you get straight on it

05.01.2022 I’ve recently started reading Dr Heuschmann’s 'Collection or Contortion' work in depth. I’m not very far in, still working my way through his accounts of the ‘old masters’, though one thought in particular caught my attention. Heuschmann makes a very strong point that the key to joy, success and harmonisation between a horse and his rider is openness: the rider must be open to learning from what his horse asks, offers and tells in his training, and he must be open to learning... from others and to experiment with this (sometimes conflicting) knowledge to find the most joyous approach to working with his horse. Without good character and attitude (which I interpret as being humorous, humble and centred), patience and staying power, the horse will feel his rider’s mental rigidness and dogmatism the same as he would physical stiffness. Most fair horses will shut their rider out when this happens, leading the rider to just be a passenger and an opposing force to the horse. Given Heuschmann says harmonisation comes from supple swinging with our horse, we can have a bit of a problem here! All this is what I have sub-consciously and purposefully let drive my training in recent years (though it has been a slow learning process). Hustler and I usually have as much to say as each other (if you are wondering, lots!), but the conversation remains quiet and open-minded on both sides. I believe that is what makes us have so much fun! Photo creds to the very talented La Bella Vita Photography. Our fairy photo
