17.01.2022 HWP GET MORE THAN WHAT THEY BARGAINED FOR Old Geelong Road Hoppers Crossing Saturday 21st December 2019: 7.17am... It all started with a truck not having enough chains. The truck being severely overloaded. This led to a intercept to investigate, where things got deeper: * Truck had stolen plates * The truck itself - stolen * The two excavator stolen * The driver - warrant * The driver - on drugs The driver, a 52 year old Glenroy man was arrested, charged and bailed for theft or motor vehicle, theft, proceeds of crime, handle stolen goods, drug driving and driving seven tonnes overweight and major load breach related offences. $140,000 worth of stolen property recovered. The man was bailed as he fits the criteria under the bail act, which police must go by.
