16.01.2022 From our DJ Esther: This Saturday, 14th March 2020, THE SOAPBOX BREWERY FEATURES MOONLIGHT TANGO as the place to be. I would like to thank the organisers Annie Hill and Alessandro Costa for hosting me as their DJ of choice for this beautiful tango event. To make a night of it, I am planning for a 70% traditional and 30% alternative tango music mix. Some choices within the traditional part will feature the tango La Vida Me Engañó directed by Alfredo de Angelis, the milonga Con... Flauta y Quitarra by Héctor Varela and the vals Por Acqui Y Por Allá by Enrique Rodriguez & Armando Moreno. These tunes are light, delightful and satisfying in the sense that they spread a happy feeling in the belly. This is the road I choose in tango: to make a distinction to the everyday drama of life. My tango is not supporting tragedy, it provides blue skies and warm weather. As for my alternative tango choices, I provide an eclectic mix of songs with European flair and a penchant to the romantic such as El Víolín de Becho by Alfredo Zitarrosa or Petite Fleur by Andrzey Bukowski. These songs, I believe, take you to another place in time, a place full of dreams and soft cheers I am looking forward to seeing all your well known and well liked faces this Saturday making for a happy and joyful night. 14.01.2022 Event Update: in light of the current global events linked to COVID-19, we wanted to give you an update and reassure you that the Moonlight Tango event 14.03 wi...ll take place as planned. The current advice from medical authorities is that people who are not impacted by travel or isolation requirements should go about their normal business. We recognise the potential risk linked with gatherings of this nature but we note that: 1) the Government has put no restriction on such gatherings at this stage (universities and CBD still open for business) 2) we are taking measures to limit the risk by providing hand sanitiser, leaving space between seats and tables and more importantly 3) giving people a chance to enjoy the event without having to come in close contact 4) SoapBox is a very large space (500sqm), should people wish to implement social distancing they will have plenty of space to do so; you can sip a tasty beer and listen to live music while looking at amazing photographs. We hope to see you all there and enjoy the great music by Mendoza Tango Quartet, the beer Soapbox Beer and the photos by David Kelly (https://davidkellyphotographer.com.au)

09.01.2022 Event POSTPONED: In light of the current global events linked to COVID-19 and in consultation with both Mendoza Tango Quartet and Soapbox Brewery, we have taken the decision to POSTPONE the Moonlight Tango event due to take place tomorrow night (14.03). Our decision also aligns with tango organisers around the country who are taking a proactive approach to limiting the spread of the virus. While the current advice is that people who are not impacted by travel or isolation... requirements should go about their normal business, we understand that the tango dance community have real concerns about the spread of the virus. Therefore, in the interest of fairness to all - those who have contributed to the fundraising and helped in other ways, but who now may not be able to attend due to their personal situation or potential risk, we have decided to postpone this event to a time when we can all enjoy the magic of tango together. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation, take on all official advice and will re-schedule this event at the closest possible date. If you are well and looking for great craft beer and some Spanish tapas (prepared especially for our event muchas gracias!) then please head along to Soapbox this weekend - you will probably find some of us there
