19.01.2022 At every new client consultation we talk about the importance of weekly series of treatments and muscle memory as one of the reasons for it. Do you know how it works? For simplicity, let's use an example of riding a bicycle. A lot of us learnt how to ride a bike as kids and don't practice this skill on a daily basis. In fact, we don't need to touch a bike for many years, not even think about riding it, but if I was to ask you to jump on a bike right now - you will start r...iding it! Your muscles will remember exactly what they need to do. This is how muscle memory works! Muscle memory is a transformation of muscle fibres and nerve cells developed after a period of time as part of regular exercise or external influence. This is exactly what we are trying to achieve with weekly series of massage treatments! Your facial muscles start to develop new muscle memory when we influence them regularly: tense muscles will begin to learn how to relax and with that the expression lines start to soften, weakened muscles begin to tone and so forth. Your homework of self-massage and self-stretches play an important role in developing a new muscle memory and shaping your facial muscle corset. Once the series is completed and you come in for your maintenance visits 1-2 times per month we start to rely on your muscle memory to get to work. We literally remind your facial muscles about the shape and form we want them to take or how we'd like them to behave. Darlings, does that make sense at all? Let us know with your if it does and leave your comments and questions here if not? There are a number of other key reasons why series of weekly treatments is strongly recommended for achieving results, but understanding what we mean by ‘muscle memory’ in facial massage is key. 09.01.2022 HOLISTIC APPROACH in facial work is key. Pressing and massaging standalone parts on the face without a strategical view of a bigger picture is pointless. FACE is an inseparable part of our BODY. As obvious as it sounds, often professional and home care seems to single out the face from the rest of us.... Understanding and treating the root cause of the problem, which often lies outside of the small part of the body we’re all used to calling ‘face’, is what brings long-term results. Otherwise, we are simply treating symptoms without even taking a look at the issue. An example of this could be prematurely forming jowls. One might think they need to treat this symptom with the most expensive product that promises to firm the skin or use an invasive face lift method. Or they might start massaging the sagging area hoping that will force it into a lift. A wholistic approach might show that jowls are formed by an extreme tension in chewing muscles. This tension causes the nearby muscles into extreme relaxation and as a result sagging of the tissue and skin. Or it might show us that tightness in the neck and platysma are pulling the lower part of the face down. Focus on these areas together with changes in the posture and daily stretches might be required. Or what if it’s a build up of excess fluids due to poor lymphatic drainage and so forth. This is why our approach not only includes work with your neck, chest, scalp and lymphatic system, but also is deeply rooted in getting to know your daily stresses, lifestyle habits and diet. We get to know the WHOLE of you and with that deliver the best beauty and wellness results for long-term. Do you agree that facial work should not only cover the small part of the body we call a face? See more
