23.01.2022 $620,000 TattsLotto winning ticket purchased at Dingley Village TattsLotto players who purchased an entry from Dingley Village are being encouraged to check their tickets today after one local resident or visitor scored a division one prize worth over $620,000 but are yet to claim their prize. The mystery winner holds one of the eight division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4085, drawn Saturday 12 September 2020. Each division one winning entry took home a... prize of $621,499.92. The elusive player did not register their entry to a Tatts Card, so officials from the Lott have no way of contacting the winner. Nova Pharmacy Dingley manager Suzanne Bates said she was thrilled to discover her outlet had sold a division one winning entry. When we heard the amazing news, we were excited and happy for the winner she said. We are encouraging everyone in Dingley Village or the surrounding suburbs to come forward and check their tickets. We cant wait to congratulate the winner when they discover their win. We are sure it has come at a good time for them during the hard times we are experiencing in Melbourne. The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said other winners had found their winning tickets in all sorts of nooks and crannies. Weve had other winners tell us theyve discovered their tickets hiding in plain sight like on the fridge door or on a pinboard in the office, while others have found them buried in the depths of their junk drawer, she said. If you do check your ticket and discover you are the winner we are searching for, please call 131 868 as soon as possible to begin the process of claiming your prize. The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4085 on Saturday 12 September 2020 were 31, 28, 12, 39, 36 and 27 while the supplementary numbers were 6 and 24.

19.01.2022 Touch-free push buttons trials at pedestrian crossing Kingston Council has taken the first step towards installing touch-free pedestrian crossing signals to help reduce any local spread of COVID-19. A pair of touchless push buttons have been installed at the pedestrian operation signal crossing on Rayhur St, near Westall train station.... We are trialling these touch-free signals to determine their effectiveness at managing traffic and ease of use for community members...if theyre effective, were planning to roll out more soon, Mayor Cr Georgina Oxley said. The touchless push button looks similar to a normal push button but has an additional sensor that triggers the pedestrian crossing light without the need to touch anything. Touch-free pedestrian signals are safer to use than conventional buttons as they reduce the chances of COVID-19 or any other viruses being transmitted and spread within the Kingston community, Ms Oxley said. The technology can be retrofitted into existing hardware, which means that installing does not require a full replacement of the citys pedestrian operated traffic signals. This is good news as it means that if the trial is successful, the touchless push button will remain permanently at Rayhur St," Mx Oxley said. "We have also identified several other locations where we could trial these touch-free pedestrian crossing sensors and will work with the Department of Transport to determine where we could further extend the program."

03.01.2022 Bupa Edithvale COVID-19 outbreak closed The COVID-19 outbreak at Bupa Edithvale is closed. General Manager Lexie Dennis thanked residents and their loved ones for supporting the home through the outbreak.... Our residents have been through so much in their lifetimes, that when it came to COVID-19, I was so impressed at how they just took it in their stride," she said. "It was obviously disruptive and they needed more support from staff than during regular times, but on the whole, they adapted really well. Weve also built a closer relationship with their relatives and the broader Edithvale community throughout this. Their support has been amazing. "Weve received care packages that are dropped off with a note simply signed from the Edithvale community to let us know theyre thinking of us." As the home returns to a sense of normality, Ms Dennis and the team will turn their minds to acknowledging and respecting the events they have been through. They plan to commission a piece of art or sculpture from a local artist to commemorate the residents who have passed away and the effects the outbreak has had on the home. From the bottom of our hearts, I just want to thank everyone near and far who have supported us in any form along the way. We couldnt have done this alone," Ms Dennis said. "To have family support, resident support and the support of the wider community has been the key to us getting through this."

01.01.2022 Dingley Village Tattslotto winners found A Dingley Village retiree said you couldnt wipe the smile off my dial with a sledge hammer after discovering he and his wife were suddenly more than $621,000 richer after purchasing a Division 1 ticket at Nova Pharmacy. Wowee....phew. Gosh I feel a little bit different now," he said.... My wife is sitting beside me and she is crying, she cant say a word. This changes our life completely...I cant wait to celebrate. We will go out for a nice dinner. A very, very nice dinner. When asked how the duo planned to enjoy their unexpected windfall, the overjoyed husband said he had a few things in mind. Well, we are both retired, so this will certainly go towards making life a lot more fun! he said. We will help our kids, and we will definitely do something a bit more lavish to spoil ourselves." Nova Pharmacy Dingley outlet manager Suzanne Bates said she was thrilled to have been there when the couple discovered the news. They came in to check their ticket. To be there for that moment, when they discovered they won division one, was just incredible, she said. They are such a lovely couple and they really deserve this win...times are tough for everyone at the moment, so we really couldnt be happier for them." 01.01.2022 Should Kingston pokie machines be closed between midnight and 10am? Kingston Council is calling on the State Government to urgently enact reforms to prevent gambling harm when poker machines are turned back on in the area when COVID-19 restrictions ease. As of September 8, almost $40 million was saved on pokie machines in Kingston.... Kingston Mayor Georgina Oxley said the COVID-19 shutdown of poker machines in Kingston since late March had been a real boost to the local economy at a time when it had been desperately needed. The shutdown will also have helped people experiencing gambling harm to take a much-needed break from gambling on poker machines and meant they could pay their rent or mortgage, put food on their tables, pay other bills, and perhaps even buy simple things such as a coffee or pizza, she said. There is no doubt that gambling addiction is a serious and often insidious issue in Kingston. We know there are connections between gambling harm and mental ill-health, family violence, homelessness and other important social and health issues that we care deeply about in Kingston. Council signed a joint letter to Premier Daniel Andrews seeking the closure of local gambling venues at midnight until 10am, joining 11 other councils around Victoria seeking this reform. No level of government is closer to the devastation poker machines cause than the local council representing the people who live with pokies spread throughout their municipality, Alliance for Gambling Reform chief advocate Rev Tim Costello said. There is nothing positive happening in a poker machine venue in the early hours of the morning. There is no food being served, no community spirit of catching up over a meal. "They are simply machines deliberately designed to addict people busily draining money from them and the Kingston economy." How do you think gambling harm could be reduced in our region? Comment below.
