01.01.2022 Moora Chamber of Commerce Citrus Sundowner - AGRIFresh and Moora Citrus hosted 24 Chamber members with a hugely informative, interesting and entertaining visit to each Citrus Farm. The whole team from AGRIFresh hosted us with a packaging shed tour, creating an intro room from colour-coordinated packing boxes. The tour of the enormous shed was thankfully followed by afternoon tea and questions. We learned that every single orange that goes through this shed is photographed 20 ...times for grading and quality control. The technology is fascinating on an epic scale. There has been over 30 000 crates of mangoes go out to the domestic market this year alone. Moora Citrus hosted an orchard visit, and an appreciation of the water infrastructure needed to feed the thirsty trees. Did you know the trees and baby fruit have sunscreen applied? The trees also need their mineral and trace elements sprayed on their leaves. All 160 000 trees take approximately 80 to 100 litres of water per day - I'll let you do the maths. The water is pumped in through a massive grated system made of stainless steel, in an effort to filter out the iron - this is a huge problem, blocking reticulation regularly. The Moora chamber of Commerce is intensely grateful to both AGRIFresh and Moora Citrus, to have had this opportunity to learn, to communicate, and to appreciate the vast investment these companies are making in our immediate area. It encouraged us all, and inspires us to grow our own business. AGRIFresh Pty Ltd Moora Citrus See more
