25.01.2022 Things look a bit different at the station from today after the Moorak Hall Committee's decision to remove the cypress trees at the back of the block. Several brigade members armed with chainsaws were on hand to help out.

25.01.2022 Thanks to Yahl for their help today

24.01.2022 This morning our crew attend a fire caused by a smouldering burn pile to reignite and spread after being fanned by strong winds. There have been a number of similar occurrences around the district over the last week. It's a timely reminder that even though the fire season is yet to start it is important to monitor weather conditions prior to lighting of fires and supervision of burn piles is still a must to avoid a potential situation that you cannot control.

24.01.2022 Tuesday 13th April 2021 has been declared a day of Total Fire Ban with SEVERE fire weather conditions expected in the Lower South East. For details on what you can and can't do check out the CFS website at: https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au//what_can_i_do_what_cant_i_do.jsp

23.01.2022 Earlier tonight Moorak & Yahl crews responded to a vehicle fire at OB Flat. Once again Samuel was in the thick of the action.

21.01.2022 Today we remember the 343 fire-fighters that responded to the call of duty and never made it home.

19.01.2022 Do the same rules apply to getting your photo on social media posts as it does with getting it in the paper?

19.01.2022 The fire season isn't here yet but a total fire ban has been declared for the Lower South East for tomorrow, Thursday 19th of November. For details on what you can and can't do check out the CFS website at: https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au//what_can_i_do_what_cant_i_do.jsp

15.01.2022 The Fire Danger Season for the Lower South East commences from midnight tonight. Residents need to ensure that any fuel reduction burns are completely extinguished and find alternate options for clearing away excess vegetation, such as council green waste disposal. Please make sure your Bushfire Survival Plan is up-to-date and that you are familiar with your Fire Ban district, and what you can and can't do during Fire Danger Season and on days of Total Fire Ban.... 14.01.2022 Ever wondered what being a member of the CFS is all about? Anyone interested is welcome to come out to our brigade training this Sunday from 0930 at Moorak station.

13.01.2022 Over the weekend Justin & Grant, two of our new members (and apparent CFS poster boys!) successfully completed their BF1 at Millicent. Photos from the SA Country Fire Service Facebook page.

13.01.2022 What a great crew, since yesterday afternoon (and still going) our guys & girls have been helping out in Mt Gambier isolating gas mains to help get gas restored to residents as soon as possible.

12.01.2022 Yesterday evening our crew teamed up with the Yahl crew to assist MFS with this 2nd alarm fire in an old timber mill in Mt Gambier

09.01.2022 Website and Alert Testing tomorrow, Tuesday 1 December The CFS will be taking advantage of tomorrow’s cooler conditions, conducting live testing of their website and alert systems. Parts of the CFS website, including the incidents page, will be inactive from 10am-11am.... Residents in Woomera and Mount Gambier may receive clearly identified test notifications between 11:30am and 12:30 and are asked to please disregard these messages. If residents see smoke or any unattended fires, we remind you to report them by calling 000.

08.01.2022 Today being the first day of lockdown, I thought it would be useful to let the community know that our brigade and all others will still be responding to emergency calls during this time. Do not hesitate to call 000 for assistance as usual. To keep you and ourselves COVID safe, we will travel to and arrive at the incident wearing masks. Stay safe everyone.

07.01.2022 How to fall a tree the easy way

07.01.2022 This morning our crew teamed up with the crew from Wandilo brigade to complete the BA skills drill.

06.01.2022 South Australia's Fire Danger Season concludes for all remaining Fire Danger Districts at midnight tonight. Although South Australia did not face as many large-...scale bushfires as the previous years our volunteers were still very busy. Our volunteers respond each and every day to bushfires, house fires, vehicle accidents and a variety of other emergencies. As conditions around the usage of fire and hot tools ease after midnight, caution should be exercised before considering any burning or risky activities. Saturday is going to be a particularly warm and windy day. For residents in bushfire-prone areas, autumn and winter are a good opportunity to prune and clean-up around houses and sheds. Country Fire Service responses during the 2020-2021 Fire Danger Season (1 November 2020 - 29 April 2021): Bushfires: 1,212 Vehicle accidents: 1,110 Building fires: 156 Hazmat incidents: 80

02.01.2022 Still a few days before the fire season starts but a total fire ban has been declared for the Lower South East for tomorrow, Friday 27th of November. For details on what you can and can't do check out the CFS website at: https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au//what_can_i_do_what_cant_i_do.jsp

01.01.2022 Today we say farewell to Moorak Brigade Life Member Geoffrey Henningsen. With more than 50 years of service including 23 years as chairperson of the Management Committee Geoffrey was a valued member of our brigade and will be sorely missed. Our thoughts go out to Geoffrey's family. Rest In Peace.
