22.01.2022 I'm a good 10 here how about you?

22.01.2022 DOG SOCIALISATION It's one of the questions I get asked the most. Here are some tips that have helped me. Daily walks are super important. The practice of simply taking your dog out to a public place and walking around will help them grow more comfortable with the world and people around them. ... Keep things interesting for your dog, take them to dog parks, pet shops, dog friendly cafes, dog friendly beaches/river spaces. Maintain a regular and consistent routine with your dog. 30mins of walk a day and 30mins - 1hr of play a day. While on the topic of play, play-time is critical with both humans and other dogs. This is where they learn behaviours and how to read other dog and human communication. Attend Dog Classes, these provide the opportunity to socialise with other humans and dogs as well as learn socialisation techniques. Stock up on Treats and reinforce positive behaviour. Always remember to follow your dogs cues and exercise caution where necessary. Your dog will communicate when they have had enough or uncomfortable or feeling threatened etc. Remember your dog doesn't have to socialise with every human and dog. Think about the people and dogs you generally see or will be around and work on reinforcing positive social behaviour with them.

19.01.2022 I re-opened my bookings for Moora Moora a couple of weeks ago and already have been blessed with amazing clients (some returning clients and some new clients). To anyone who is new to this page, hi I'm Chloe When nearly all my clients cancelled due to COVID-19 shutdowns at the end of March, I closed Moora Moora. I was not certain if I would reopen or if I did reopen, what that would look like. I love animals and feel all animals deserve love. Moora Moora (meaning good-...spirit in indigenous language) has been a passion project of mine for some time (I'm also a HR Officer for my day job). Originally I wanted to help pets feel loved and secure while their family was away. As I learn and develop I feel there's no much more to be done.. this became more clear during Moora Moora's closure.. Building the relationships between pets and their owners. Building confidence, trust and understanding. Making sure as responsible pet owners we are giving our pets the best chance at a wonderful life. It's more than just looking after your pets for me. They may make up a small part of your life, however you are their whole life. My heart has told me to continue sharing this good spirit. There is much moora to come

19.01.2022 We are closed from today and reopening Wednesday 16th June. We will respond to any messages sent during this time. Thank you for your understanding.... Chloe, Leon, Winnie & Buddha

19.01.2022 All dogs need time, patience and love... Even more when it's a rescue adjusting to their second, third, fourth home. Deciding to have a rescue dog is a noble and great option. Please do your research and understand the responsibility involved prior to adopting so they don't end up in the system again

19.01.2022 We are accepting bookings for June & July. Our services include walk, play and one on one time. While they are with us, they become a part of the family and have the company of our two friendly dogs Winnie & Buddha.

19.01.2022 We are delighted to have Sam and Benita back with us this weekend.

18.01.2022 Contact us for more information or to make a booking. Please note we have limited spaces available in July & August.

17.01.2022 Today we welcomed Fergie to the Moora Moora family. Fergie is staying with us for the weekend through our dog boarding option Fergie is settling in nicely and making friends with our two pups

16.01.2022 We have commenced services for the beautiful Shine this weekend. Always an absolute pleasure spending time with Shiny Girl

14.01.2022 The two boys. Buddha meeting Sam for the first time this weekend and have been inseparable.

14.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder. As it is approaching the cooler months you may have noticed your dual coat doggy getting a fuller, thicker, longer coat. In a few months when it gets warmer, this will shed. The doggy will regulate their coat themselves. You do not need to cut or shave.

13.01.2022 Fergie all smiles on this warm spring day

12.01.2022 This weekend has been incredibly hot with today expected to reach even higher temperatures so please make sure that you're looking after your animal pals. Bring your pets inside if you can. If they have to stay outside, have fresh water access, frozen ice dishes are great for this and a paddling pool. ... Leave water dishes out for wildlife and bird life as well. Keep everyone shaded DO NOT leave them in the car if you're going out! Keep safe everyone.

12.01.2022 To all our new followers, let me reintroduce myself. I am Chloe, have been petsitting on a regular basis for almost 2 years. However I had looked after animals or had pets all my life. I am studying certificates in dog care, training and communication. I am experienced in looking after dogs (many different breeds), cats, chickens, horses, goat, sheep and fish. ... I have 9 pets myself - Winnie (Labrador x Golden Retriever), Buddha (Golden Retriever) and 7 chickens. One day I dream of owning horses. I believe animals are our greatest teachers and love spending time with animals of all shapes and sizes, feathered, furred or scaled.

12.01.2022 The recent wet weather has led to a bloom of mushrooms and toadstools in gardens across the state. Some of these beautiful fungi can cause severe and potentially fatal gastric and/or neurological signs if eaten. Contact your closest vet clinic immediately if you suspect mushroom ingestion. Keep pets safe by removing mushrooms from your gardens. If you have pets there’s no room for mushrooms!

12.01.2022 We find that understanding dog's body language is extremely important in a variety of situations. It is your dog giving you a signal to how they are feeling in that moment. Here are some examples involving the head.

11.01.2022 With a heavy heart I am saying goodbye for now. This has not been an easy decision to make. However as this has been in conjunction with full time work, this will free up time to finish study and work on exciting projects to launch for pet owners. I will be back! I would like to thank everyone who supported Moora Moora over the last 12 months. It's been a pleasure looking after all your pets and I'm always humbled by the honour. ... Stay safe and see you later, Chloe

11.01.2022 With training, time, care and patience our dogs can learn anything. We are currently working on teaching our dogs that our chickens are friends. We purchased our chickens as day old baby chicks and our dogs have been spending supervised play time on a regular basis since. It's been 10 weeks and now they can have supervised time outside together. What are you currently teaching your dog?

10.01.2022 Honouring our Moora Moora family. These are some of our pets we have had the pleasure of looking after, most have been repeat services. We appreciate every pet that stays with us and we treat them as we would our own. We are humbled by the trust given to care for your pet as we understand it can be a difficult time to leave then with someone else while going away.

10.01.2022 Morning walks with Fergie and Buddha When you choose our dog boarding option it includes daily walks and plays. Your beloved pooch becomes a part of our beloved family during the stay.

10.01.2022 We are looking forward to having Fergie stay with us again this weekend. Fergie has so much character. Fergie enjoys having a play, walk and cuddles.

07.01.2022 I saw this on @poundpatrolrescue and had to share myself, it's something we have been super mindful of with our two pups. "When you get your 8/10 week old puppies, please keep this image in mind. Their bones do not even touch yet. They plod around so cutely with big floppy paws and wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet. When you run them excessi...vely or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in. But when you're letting puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tile with no traction you are damaging the joint. You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one. Once grown you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once. A bit of back-story: This is a baby puppy who had a knock to his elbow and wasn't using it properly, so he was taken to the vet. There is nothing wrong in these x-rays, thankfully it is a soft tissue injury and he is expected to be fine."

05.01.2022 10 THINGS YOUR DOG WOULD TELL YOU... 1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be painful: remember that before you get me. 2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.... 3. Place your trust in me- it is crucial to my well being. 4. Do not be angry at me for long, and do not lock me up as punishment. 5. You have your work, your entertainment, and your friends. I only have you. 6. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don’t understands your words, I understand your voice when it is speaking to me. 7. Be aware that how ever you treat me, I will never forget. 8. Remember before you hit me that I have teeth that could easily hurt you, but I choose not to bite you because I love you. 9. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate, or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I might not be getting the right food, or I have been out too long, or my heart is getting too old and weak. 10. Take care of me when I get old; you too will grow old. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say: I cannot bear to watch or Let it happen in my absence. Everything is easier for me if you are there, even my death. 04.01.2022 Some new laws for those who own restricted dogs

04.01.2022 We've all been guilty of this Wherever you choose for your dog to sleep... Remember that puppies grow up and once a habit is formed as a pup, it's much harder to break as an adult. If you don't wish for a 20-40kg dog to sleep in your bed, don't allow it to sleep in your bed when it's 5kg.

03.01.2022 Welcome Hugo (French Bulldog) and Axl (German Shepherd) to the Moora Moora family. Both arrived this morning and settling in nicely.

02.01.2022 Toni from Sniffs N Wags shared this and find it sums up a correctly fitted harness really well! A correctly fitted harness is so important for going out in public on walks. I also recommend checking out Chevalla Park who makes custom harnesses

01.01.2022 We have had two growing puppies over the last year - Winnie now 14 months and Buddha now 9 months. Finding something similar like this has been a regular occurrence. We've learned some helpful tactics: Morning walks or plays before leaving for work Setting up kongs full of treats Hiding treats in the yard for the dogs to find ... A range of different toys suitable to keep them stimulated - soft material toys are destroyed very quickly by our dogs. Rope or rubber toys last longer in our home. Placing valuable items up high. Where it is not possible to place up high (like our veggie patch ) barricade off. If it's not possible to barricade, a fantastic tip we learned is smearing Vicks chest rub on items outside we don't want destroyed. Patience. With young pups it can be a stage in their development and getting their adult teeth. Taste/chew is also one of the ways dogs learn and explore new things. If you have any tips or if these tips work for you, we'd love to know.
