25.01.2022 Can you help? Moore river ranch and wildlife sanctuary has been offered to take ownership of some neglected live stock by various animal welfare organisations to provide permanent and happy homes for. Goats Horses Cattle ... And some orphaned sheep. We are a self funded and family run Ranch and wildlife sanctuary and to do so, we need to quickly repair some fences and build shelters and yards in the areas we have reserved for rescuing non native animals. If anyone works in industries that has throw away or spare material to donate such as - framing timber - corrugated iron or colour bond sheets - building timber’s - metal tubing/square tubing/ angle iron - plastic feed drums for animal feeds - food grade IBC tanks for water storage in paddocks - old gates (farm gates) - plastic drums And similar items or farm products, we would very much appreciate your donations of materials that will contribute towards us helping more animals in need of care.

22.01.2022 Feel like camping this weekend? We’ve just had a cancellation for this weekend and have one site left that can hold a couple of vehicles. Please inbox us to enquire.

21.01.2022 Today we took ownership of a peahen (female peacock) that was going to be euthanised if it couldn’t find a new home. Please remember that we do rescue farm animals, livestock and birds as a separate venture to our wildlife sanctuary. if you ever know of an animal In need of a happy and safe forever home, please pass on our details so we can see if we can help. Please remember that any rescue animals do need to be dropped off to us as we are snowed under with ranch work and animal care around our ranch and can’t leave to pick them up.

18.01.2022 Hi everyone. Do we have any Town planners or someone qualified as a lawyer or surveyor that is able to help our wildlife sanctuary out with an amendment to the property use so that we can submit a low impact tourist development change please? We’d love to hear from you in our inbox. Thank you.

17.01.2022 Camping is so tiring Moore River Ranch

16.01.2022 Fire arms are used at our ranch for animal welfare purposes and to eliminate feral species that destroy wildlife. Teaching our young family members how to correctly handle and use firearms is important for their safety and the role they will play in the future conservation of our wildlife sanctuary. We appreciate the continued support and training from our friends and colleagues who are also ex serviceman from the Australian armed forces. They ensure training is carried out 100% without risk to anyone or anything. Please note that fire arms are not used on our property when we have campers and our gates remain locked whilst they are in use. It’s is important that you do not enter our property and walk down the drive way whilst the front gate is locked.

16.01.2022 Even the little things help when donated to our wildlife sanctuary or rescue ranch. Thanks Steve from Lifestyle 4WD. Our rescue hens love the old dog kennel you donated and it’s now their favourite laying box. Don’t forget to ask us for a dozen free range eggs laid by our rescue hens for $7 when you check in. The money goes towards their feed and care.

15.01.2022 5 trees down yesterday. Strong winds and fallen trees are a daily event at the ranch & wildlife sanctuary. Please, no matter how calm it is whilst you’re setting up camp, always secure your tents or campers with guide ropes in preparation for extreme winds. They will blow in every afternoon and we’ve seen too many camp set ups ruined already because they weren’t strapped down.

15.01.2022 We’ve come so far in such a short time. Our wildlife sanctuary remains a safe haven for native species and acts as a release sanctuary for injured wildlife bought back to health. Our rescue ranch has managed to rescue 9 ducks, 3 peacocks, 2 turkeys, 25 chickens, 12 gunieafowl, a goat, 2 horses, cattle and several native animals. We have 2 more horses coming this weekend and 15 more ducks. ...Continue reading

13.01.2022 Photographers get ready. Our wildflowers are coming. We have over 150 acres of natural, unspoilt Australian bush that blooms with an abundance of wildflowers. With the wildflowers comes the native birds in their masses. Get in early to book your camping and photography weekends.

13.01.2022 Thanks To Woody for dropping off two rescue turkeys today. Cheech and Chong will have a wonderful life on our ranch safe from predators and other dangers. We’ve locked them up for a few hours before we let them free range with the other birds. Yesterday our rescue peahen made our chickens look tiny. Today, the turkeys make the peahen look small.

11.01.2022 Some of our happy campers .

05.01.2022 Campsite number 02. A chorus of birds, the daily afternoon sea breeze and a sunset that only cheese and wine or a cold beer could top off. Great site for larger group bookings.

04.01.2022 Late night check up on how new mum/silky chicken is doing with keeping her 4 baby chickens warm In the rain. Two little heads poking out from under her breast gives us confidence that she’s doing just fine. The red heat lamp is there as back up.

03.01.2022 Marroning. Now banned at Moore River Ranch due to too many people abusing our rules and fisheries laws. We are first and foremost a wildlife sanctuary and our wildlife conservation is our highest priority. If this effects your booking, please contact us for a refund. People caught ignoring this ban will be reported to the police and fisheries for legal action to be taken against them.
