24.01.2022 So the French Open has come and gone for 2018. I loved watching the play this year. It always brings an interesting dynamic to watching Tennis and is so distinctly different to much of the rest of the years play. SBS coverage was great, apart from the late starting time each night!... We now move onto the grass courts, where already the Aussies are off to a great start with Bernard Tomic and Matt Ebden taking big upset wins last night.
24.01.2022 Some top matches tonight at Roland Garros. My picks are Muguruza, Nadal, Halep and Del Potro. Lets see how many I get right
23.01.2022 Day 2 of camp going well. Albeit very chilly this morning
23.01.2022 Had a helper come to Tennis with me last week. Now everyday Im getting asked Can I see the kids at Tennis today??
22.01.2022 Maybe a bit deep for a Monday, but gotta remember how lucky we all are!
20.01.2022 Its so easy to judge others and its so easy to say what you would do in the same situation, and I am guilty of doing this aswell. Its always easy from the outside looking in. Such a huge achievement to be a professional athlete, but such a huge demand in todays world too.... We all need to remember that whilst they have incredible skill, deep down they are just normal people like you and me.
18.01.2022 Hi everyone, Voting for the Local Business Awards closes tomorrow. If you can spare the time and would like to vote for our business, Id really appreciate it.... Every vote counts!
18.01.2022 So we are lucky enough again in 2018 to be a part of the Australian Local Business awards for the Northern Districts area. Its very cliche but I love doing what I do for the love of teaching and sharing the wonderful game of Tennis. I am continually thankful for all my students and their families for the support of my small business. We strive to be the best we can be, and we always look to offer a wholistic approach to our coaching.... If you have the time and inclination, I would be very grateful if you could take the time to click the link below and vote for my business. You should then receive an email which you will need to confirm your vote. Thankyou again, and stay warm over the next few days - some very chilly days ahead!
16.01.2022 Temperatures are really starting to drop. 5 when I was outside at 8am this morning. Perfect for Tennis really. No sweating at that temp for sure. Main difficulty is just getting warmed up.... If you can layer your clothing that is always helpful, and having the heater on in the car is a great way to be a little bit warmer by the time you get to Tennis. Another way to keep warm once you get to Tennis is to use that bit of extra footwork that we all shy away from in the summer months
14.01.2022 Hi everyone, Hope you had a great long weekend! This is a page that has been created by a mate of mine with a small business.... Its to highlight the plight of small businesses that are based in the food industry, who take a huge cut of their business without doing anything at all recently. I was shocked as I had used some of these pages in the past when ordering my food, but they take anywhere up to 35% of the price. If you have a minute, take a look at the page and have a read. And next time you order online, see if the small business has their own page you can order through or just pick up the phone and call them.
13.01.2022 Absolutely astonishing achievement!
12.01.2022 Ok, its late and its a Friday night but scrolling through my Facebook feed and came through this extremely interesting article (well to me anyway!) Hopefully this is evident to anyone who has lessons from me, but Im not always a huge proponent of having a certain technique. To me, a great appeal of Tennis is the wide variety of ways that the game can be played. And successfully too!... The great take home message from this article is that tactics give technique purpose. You are not judged on how good you like on the Tennis court (Yes, sad I know!) Instead you are judged on your ability to win points, and generally you do that with what you do with the ball - not what you do with the swing. I think at some point in time we have all played against someone who has particularly awful technique and yet they have wiped us off the court. Just by putting the ball in certain places and keeping themselves in certain position. A young boy that I have coached for a little while now was telling me that at his external coaching sessions, his coach is telling him every week he needs to move his left arm more to produce more power. This of course is tecnically correct as it will allow him to produce more coil/uncoil but to be berated about it each lesson is totally pointless. Next time you are on the court, focus on what you want to do with the ball and your technique will find a way to produce that result. It may be difficult at first and there may be some errors, but over time you will have more confidence and the results will come. Of course technique has a role in the game of Tennis, but we have a strong focus on teaching all of our students how to play the game of Tennis, not just how to hit the ball
12.01.2022 Might be a bit too wet, even for my 5 reasons to play in the rain!
11.01.2022 Saw this classic picture taken at Wimbledon Qualifying. Simplifies weather forecasting really!!
11.01.2022 Stole this idea from another page but here goes Top 5 reasons to play Tennis in the wet 1. No need to worry about getting hot and sweaty. (Unless you like that!)... 2. All those slices that you never intend work extremely well 3. Points being shorter than usual 4. Being able to wear your fancy wet weather clothing 5. Better than sitting at home on the lounge! Ok, I dont always love coaching in the rain - but unless the rain is really heavy or the courts are unsafe for play, we will always try to get on the court where possible. It seemed to rain enough last night to last for a while anyway
11.01.2022 There should be a translation to go with the post below, but just incase there isnt here is what it is about. Nick Kyrgios pulled out of the French Open first round at the 11th hour. There had already been a huge number of lucky losers put through to the first round, leaving Bernard Tomic no one to play and to be guaranteed to go through to the 2nd round. Marco Trungelliti was in Barcelona when French Open organisers contacted him. He drove 9 hours with his Mother, Grandmoth...er and Brother in a rental car. Then played the first round match against Tomic, and beat him in 4 sets. Incredible story of just how tough and the dedication needed as a professional Tennis player, particularly those who dont always get the opportunities that the top players do.
11.01.2022 So much joy and happiness in this photo. Whilst Ash is a little embarrassed by this photo, you can see what a lovely moment this was for her as a junior.
11.01.2022 So Wimbledon 2018 starts on Monday, one of my favourite times of the year for Tennis. Ive gone with the predictions of Roger Federer (what a surprise!) and Serena Williams to be the Mens and Womens winners respectively. Whats your predictions for the tournament?
11.01.2022 Afternoon camp is cranking and preparing for their tournaments
10.01.2022 Such a wonderful time of year for Tennis, shame its not spread over the year a bit more
10.01.2022 Interesting concepts.... Not sure I agree, but whats your thoughts?
10.01.2022 Interesting concepts.... Not sure I agree, but what's your thoughts?
09.01.2022 Some more good (maybe not as good to look at!) news to share today. Thanks to all those who voted, we are officially a finalist in the Local Business Awards for Northern Districts in 2018. Ill keep you posted what happens over the awards period and let you know of any more good news!
09.01.2022 Such an interesting article, worth a read if you have a young one. The same could be send in my opinion for those in talented classes at school. That is not a criticism of those children with those skills, but I am a strong believer in labelling - and the more we use labels on people, the more people become those, both positive and negative! I think its important to remember how much of a journey everything we do is and the journey is often just as important as getting to th...e destination. Whilst I am not the best player around by far, at this point in my life I am certainly the best player I have been throughout my life (comparably speaking). Yes, I wish I played more when I was younger. Yes, I wish I had more lessons and court time. But I have such a joy of the game of Tennis, and so many times I have read/heard of others who have lost that joy. The main reason that so many of us continue to play Tennis as adults, is because we enjoy it so much. Ok, maybe not if we lose but we have to keep in mind for children that the enjoyment part is a huge factor!
07.01.2022 You may or may not be able to work out what these racquets are, but thats not really the point. The number on the right is the weight. These 2 racquets are the same, but have a look at the huge difference in the weights on them. I often get asked for recommendations on racquets for people. I am slightly biased as I use Tecnifibre and highly recommend them, but the racquets pictured here are from a favourite brand of many people.... I used to recommend this brand too, but heres a big reason why I dont anymore. Particularly with Tecnifibre racquets, you can be sure there will be minimal difference between 2 racquets that you purchase. It might not seem like much, but being able to head onto the court knowing the racquet you have in hand, feels and plays the same as the one sitting in your bag is of huge importance!

04.01.2022 So the French Open starts tonight with coverage being on both Fox Sports and SBS. Such an interesting tournament and is always full of surprises! Interesting first round match up is between Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic. Will be very keen to see who gets the win there!

02.01.2022 Here is the reason for me not being on the court, being very slow at replying to emails and messages and missing calls for the past few weeks. Introducing Harry John Moore Born on 22nd of June, 2018... Weighing in at 3.61kg and measuring 60cm tall
