18.01.2022 Thinking of sending Pets Internationally with Qantas Airlines! We have received notification from Qantas about their supplementary services announced this week. The Qantas Freight team are currently working very closely with the Australian Government in regards to the processing and allowance of freight products to be uplifted on these services.... The priority at this stage is to uplift and manage medical goods and other critical shipments. At this current stage we unfortunately are unable to accept any pet bookings for these services.

18.01.2022 UPDATED NEWS (17:58pm-3/8/2020) Both the international and domestic terminals have paused operations completely and will remain closed for at least the next 24 ...hours. Until operations resume, freight cannot be lodged or collected from either terminal in Melbourne As a precaution, weve removed flights into and out of Melbourne from the online booking portal until midnight tomorrow (4 Aug 2020), and we recommend you seek alternative arrangements for any urgent freight movements as both freighter and passenger services are affected. Well resume operations as soon as were able to and were continuing to assess other options to minimise disruptions during this time. ............................................................................ News to hand from Qantas Freight Melbourne Airport.

17.01.2022 COVID-19 impact on Cat and Dog arrivals into Melbourne International Airport, Australia The Premier of Victoria, Mr Daniel Andrews, has requested that for the following two weeks international flights will be diverted from arrival into Melbourne Airport. This will have a direct impact on the importation of companion animals arriving on international passenger flights. The Victorian State government has also decided to reimpose stage three lockdown restrictions due to COVID-19.... The lockdown will be imposed in 10 postcodes across Melbourne from 11.59pm, Wednesday 1 July 2020. The current COVID-19 pandemic does not change the existing risks posed by diseases of biosecurity concern to Australia or the need for cats and dogs to meet the import permit conditions in full. This includes the requirement for cats and dogs to arrive directly into Melbourne International Airport, excluding dogs and cats exported from New Zealand, or dogs holding an assistance dog permit. The department may consider re-exporting or euthanising animals that do not fulfill this requirement. The department is working with all animals diverted mid-flight to establish alternative arrangements. The department requests that no animals be loaded for transport to Australia until confirmation that flights can land at Melbourne Airport. Animals cannot be transhipped to Melbourne on a domestic flight from another Australian port. Pet importers and owners must secure an airline booking directly into Melbourne Airport and are advised to confirm both the flight arrival date and the PEQ reservation date to receive their animal before being exported to Australia. Please email [email protected] if you wish to amend a PEQ reservation due to flight disruptions. The PEQ facility is located in Mickleham, which is one of the 10 postcodes in lockdown from 11.59pm, Wednesday 1 July 2020. Please check relevant state or territory government websites for interstate travel movement restrictions. Pet importers and owners will continue to be responsible for arranging the collection of their animals from the PEQ whether in person or by engaging the services of a local pet transport company. Importers are encouraged to check our website regularly for up to date information as import conditions can change without notice.

17.01.2022 Warning to all pet transport people Have been speaking with associates and we are noticing that bookings are being made to regional ports involving two flights. Second flights are being cancelled and likelihood of pets being stuck mid way and then having to stop where they are and unable to continue their journey to final destination. ... If this continues there is a high chance that airlines will stop pets flying altogether. Please be careful and consider the implications if this was to occur with your booking.

16.01.2022 Important information about pet bookings with Qantas Freight Dear Wayne, With our industry facing an unprecedented, evolving situation amid the... COVID-19 pandemic, the ever-changing landscape has led to a review of our operations to protect the wellbeing of all. Limited flying across our network has resulted in many terminals opening for restricted hours, while social distancing protocols require us to limit the number of visitors into our terminals to ensure we're COVID-safe. To reduce the number of people visiting our terminals and create a safer environment, we're temporarily amending our pet and animal booking, lodgement and collection process. Suspending our direct pet booking channels In the next few days, our online booking portal for pets and animals will be temporarily disabled and customers will be required to book their domestic pet travel through one of our preferred pet travel specialists like you. As safety is our first priority, we wanted to remind you of your obligations when booking pet and animal transport with Qantas Freight. * Consignee and consignor details recorded on the AWB must be accurate * In line with our Conditions of Carriage, our operations teams have been reminded of the importance of checking all documentation at lodgement and collection and will only accept or release animals to the individual noted on the AWB. Lodgements and collections will be rejected if the AWB details do not match. We strongly recommend that lodgement and collection of all pets and animals is included in the service you provide, so that for everyone's safety, your customers can avoid entering our terminals. We'll be updating our website shortly to reflect the new conditions, and your support of the revised booking, lodgement and collection process is much appreciated. The Qantas Team

10.01.2022 Virgin Airlines AVI Acceptance Changes. Dear Customer, ... RE: WIRE CRATE BAN and FIT to FLY CERTIFICATE CHANGES EFFECTIVE 19 October 2020. At Virgin Australia we are continually reviewing our policy and procedures to ensure that best practices are followed at all times. As part of this review we are going to make changes to the acceptance of Wire and Mesh Crates effective from the 19th October 2020. As at Monday 19th October Virgin Australia will no longer accept Wire or Mesh crates, in line with the Current IATA Live Animal Regulations. Containers made entirely of welded mesh or wire mesh are not suitable for transportation on the Virgin Australia network. We have made this decision in line with the IATA regulations and also reviewing the animal welfare, work place health and safety and engineering of our aircraft. All crates must comply with IATA requirements. We would also like to advise from the 19th October that a Veterinary issued Fit to Fly certificate will be required for all Animals travelling on our network that are 12 years and older (dated within two weeks of the travel date). All other fit to fly certifications remain unchanged. If you have any queries, please contact your Account Manager or [email protected] We thank you for your assistance and cooperation.
