15.01.2022 Dear Supporters By way of update, for the past 6 months we've been planning our next mission trip to Indonesia, including a scouting visit of Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) Timor-Leste mission. This was to coincide with a ceremony in Indonesia during which the first MOP Brothers from there were to make their Final Vows. However, these plans had to change. The Indonesian Brothers, who are currently housed at the MOP Mother house in Jamaica, were planning a home visit in April ...and were to take their vows in Indonesia. COVID19 has put a stop to this. It has also impacted on plans made by a number of Brothers who were due to return to the country in which they entered the Missionaries of the Poor, to take their vows. The good news is that these Brothers will be taking their Final Vows in Jamaica, this Saturday 27th June at 5pm Jamaica Time which will be 8am Sunday Brisbane Time. We’re very happy to announce that MOP will be livestreaming the ceremony and we’ll be able to watch it on the MOP YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nf1GOum-kKU In the meantime, a small team from Brisbane continues its preparation for the scouting trip to Timor Leste in 2021, as part of our planning of future mission trips. Please keep us in your prayers! If you are interested in finding out more about mission trips please contact us via return email. Peace in Christ Missionaries of the Poor Brisbane Supporters

06.01.2022 A couple of weeks ago we held a photo testimony night about our mission trip in June 2019. The night was enjoyed by all. You can view our slideshow presentation reflecting on different parts of our mission experience on YouTube https://youtu.be/Jyrxv4Ln4iY There were a number of wonderful stories shared by Georges (on projects), Jan (working wtih children), Kay (spiritual), Fr Nev (outreach activities), Tim (celebrations) and to give you a taste here's one shared by Peter....... The whole journey to the Mission of the Poor was so powerful. It was a great journey travelling with some amazing people. The experience helps bring you to a greater understanding of your faith and implants a desire to do more with your life. For some, this impact is immediate, whereas, with others, the process may take a little longer. We were welcomed so warmly by the Brothers and the whole travel experience was very relaxing. The only way to gain a full understanding of the atmosphere of life with the Brothers, is to go there and experience it for yourself. It’s life changing, it’s easy and it’s rewarding. The celebrations with the Mission Brothers is so moving, from the Mass where 22 Brothers took their first vows, to the lively celebration afterwards of sharing good food and company whilst dancing with the Brothers and members of their families who joined all of us for this memorable occasion. I sincerely thank Father Nev Yun (Indooroopilly Parish, Brisbane) and Louis Lamuri (Sunnybank Parish) for such a well organised trip.

04.01.2022 In this Lenten Season, let us be reminded of the fasting that the Lord desires of us: Authentic fasting that leads to blessing.
