02.01.2022 COVID changes announced as reported in the Herald Sun... Melburnians will be able to move within 25kms of their homes and socialise more freely outdoors from 11.59pm on Sunday night, Premier Daniel Andrews has just announced. And from Sunday 1 November, the four reasons to leave home will be removed, the retail sector will reopen and people will be allowed to host a maximum of two people plus dependents to visit their homes once a day.... After 100 days of lockdown, the 5km travel restriction and two-hour time caps have been finally lifted, allowing people significantly more freedom in their outdoor movements. However, until November 1, people cannot admit outsiders into their homes or backyards for socialising. From Sunday night, people in Melbourne will be able to catch up with up with friends outside as long as they wear masks and adhere to COVID-safe guidelines on social distancing. But all will just have to stay within 25kms of their homes and must not be in groups of more than ten from two households. This is an increase on the previous limit of five-person gatherings where attendees had to be from two households. That could be for exercise or a picnic in the park. I know some people will reasonably ask why it’s limited to two households and not five or ten. But by limiting the number of households, we’re limiting any potential spread of the virus, Mr Andrews said. The Premier said the changes were part of a plan for a COVID-safe summer. Victorians have stayed the course and we have just a little longer to go. Golf and tennis will be allowed and skateparks will also reopen from Monday. Hairdressers will reopen from Monday and real estate auctions can take place with a maximum of 10 people along with commercial real estate inspections. Outdoor pools can host 30 swimmers from Monday while indoor pools can open up for one-on-one hydrotherapy with a health professional. From November 1, hospitality will reopen with a maximum of 20 people inside and 50 people outside. The retail sector will also reopen two weeks from tomorrow. Beauty and personal services also will return on that date and contact sport for under 18-year-olds and non-contact for adults will recommence. A maximum of 20 people will be allowed for outdoor religious gatherings from November 1. A maximum of 10 people will be allowed at weddings and a maximum of 20 mourners at funerals
