21.01.2022 Dear School Community In respecting privacy and with the permission from Russell’s partner, I am posting this on our school Facebook page. It is with a sad and heavy heart that I inform you of the recent passing of Russell Standish, a valued colleague and friend. Russ has been a valued long serving staff member at Morayfield East State School and has made huge and valuable contributions to the education of so many young children. He always had a passion for the early years s...ector and both teachers and students will remember his warm and welcoming smile as he played and worked with them. Russell suffered a heart attack on December 18th and after a brave fight, passed away on Wednesday this week. Our sincere condolences go out to Russell’s family and friends. I have been walking alongside Nikki throughout this stressful time, offering support. The school will provide support for her and her children over the following days, weeks and months. There have already been so many offers from our staff and school community, and I’m sure this will continue once we are all back at school. When school commences we will have available support and counselling opportunities for students as required. The office will be open from 18th January if you feel the need to speak to someone. It’s times like this that are a reminder to us, to treasure precious moments with our families and loved ones. Please continue to look after yourself and each other. Julieanne

13.01.2022 Recent Parent Teacher Interviews conducting a short survey Many thanks to everyone who was involved in last weeks parent teacher interviews, be it face-to-face or via a phone interview. Traditionally at this time of year, we see a reduction in interview numbers and given the current climate of social distancing, it was pleasing to note that parents were still keen to engage with their classroom teachers. Due to the modified running of these interviews, anecdotally there ha...s been positive feedback but we would like to pause and reflect on our interview process. To help us gather feedback on your experiences and move to improve where possible, we have put together a short online survey. Even if you were unable to participate in an interview, we encourage all parents and carers to participate in this short survey by visiting: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PT_Term3_2020 This survey does not identify any participants. Most people will complete the survey in a couple of minutes. Your feedback on this survey will help us to make decisions on how best to host our future interviews. Closing date for this survey will be Friday 9 October at 4pm. If you havent had the opportunity yet to discuss your childs learning progress, please dont hesitate to contact your classroom teacher to make a suitable time to take up this discussion. See more
