23.01.2022 Last week I was reminded how meaningful it is to be included in something you did not think was possible. Throughout my teenage years I really enjoyed go karting. This is something I have not done for many years as I have felt like I have lost far too much sight. Last week my partner and I were supporting one of the young people utilising Morcommunity services. The young man requested to go go-karting. ... I assumed that this was going to be an activity that I would not be able to participate in and felt so much frustration and disappointment about my vision impairment. My partner believed that there must be a way to modify the activity so it was more accessible for myself. After a conversation with Power karts, they were so accepting of the situation and insured that they could cater to what was simple modifications. The activity was a perfect reminder that there may be situations you think may not be an option due to a disability. With the right support and the right person advocating for you activities can be accessible. This is the type of support that we really do strive to reflect within our services.
