25.01.2022 Imagine what it would have been like to have the real Lexus Melbourne Cup in Moree ......!! #LMCT #thepeoplescup

25.01.2022 Summer Races in Moree It is with a heavy heart, and after many months of deliberation, exploring different avenues and consultation with the local licensing aut...horities, that the Club has made the decision that in 2020, with the impact of COVID restrictions, it is not financially viable for the us to hold our usual Christmas Twilight Races. We do have a race meeting scheduled for Saturday 19th December, so in their place will be the Summer Races to be held with a limit of 500 patrons that will consist of Sponsors, Members, Owners and a very limited number of General Admission tickets. We will also be limiting patrons to 18 years and above. All Bookings including Members, Owners and General Admission tickets will be available online from 9am Monday 30th November from TryBooking or through the MRC website https://www.trybooking.com/book/search ) Patrons will be expected to abide by COVID restrictions and at this stage that means: QR Code Sign in and temperature checks at the entrance. Areas set up with tables and chairs for those wishing to consume alcoholic drinks. You will be able to leave these areas to place a bet with the bookmakers and TAB, look at the horses, buy food at the canteen and use the toilet facilities, BUT you cannot walk around holding an alcoholic drink, and you must maintain correct social distancing. Sponsorship packages for the 6 races will be available upon request by email: [email protected] and will be offered to last year’s sponsors in the first instance and then opened up to new enquiries. We know that some people will be disappointed with this decision, but we hope you will respect why we have made this decision, and look forward to a bigger and better 2021! #moreesummerraces #overcovid #biggerandbetterin2021

25.01.2022 Members & Owners Please note that even thought tickets will go on sale on Monday 30th November at 9am, we have allocated enough tickets for you to book once you... receive your membership numbers (for new member applications) and acceptances for your horses running on the day. New membership forms received after the 30th November will not be eligible to attend the races on the 19th December as they are required to be formally accepted at a Committee Meeting. #newmembers #owners

20.01.2022 Life after racing - an OTT success story!

20.01.2022 Great excitement this morning with the drawing of barriers for the Lexus Melbourne Cup National Sweep. The Club that draws the same barrier as the winning Melbourne Cup horse stands to take home $50,000 for their nominated Charity. For Moree we have nominated the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service as our charity. We have drawn Barrier 4 so keep an eye out on Channel 10 on Derby Day this Saturday to see what horse we will draw. Fingers crossed!!!... #LexusMelbourneCup #WRHS #lovelocal #greatcause

18.01.2022 $1.1 MILLION SECURES A GRANDSTAND FINISH FOR MOREE RACE CLUB The Moree Racecourse central grandstand will be reinstated for public use, thanks to $1.1... million in stimulus funding from the State Government to address structural issues with the building. This is brilliant news for the Moree Race Club, which has for years now wanted to undertake a large-scale revamp of the 50-year-old racecourse grandstand. Horse racing has had a long and distinguished history in the region with the first Moree Cup held in 1881 and this $1.1 million stimulus funding will help continue that legacy. The current grandstand at Moree Racecourse has been restricted for some time, due to concrete cancer weakening the structure making it unsafe for large numbers of spectators. Preliminary engineering assessments have been conducted on the grandstand and more detailed assessments will now be undertaken with the use of the first tranche of this funding. These assessments will determine what repair work will be needed to rectify the situation or if a replacement grandstand would be more cost effective. Moree Racecourse is a significant drawcard and focal point for the town and also other communities in the wider region that hold picnic race days at the course. This investment to restore a key piece of recreational infrastructure will provide a boost for the local turf club and the many residents who enjoy a great view of the action during a day at the races. Moree Race Club President Rob Mather and his committee have worked hard for many years now improving the trackside facilities and deserve congratulations. Relish will be catering and they have a brand new menu with some delicious looking dishes chosen for our dinner guests. We will be posting more details of the auction items early next week.
