25.01.2022 Our producers and their wonderful fare remain firmly at the heart of our festival, and registration is now open to secure a stand at our 2020 Moree on a Plate, to be held Saturday, May 9. We love nothing more than ensuring our producers have a fantastic day showcasing their delicacies and treats and we can't wait to see many of our returning, and new, stall holders this year. If you're in interested in being part of this year's festival, registration forms can be found on our website at www.moreeonaplate.com/the-festival We're already working on our shopping lists and meal plans for the day!

25.01.2022 COVID-19 may have put a stop to our festival but it sure hasnt slowed down Morees generosity. These local legends, Statewide Aviation and Aircair Aviation had signed up early to jointly be our 2020 Platter Sponsor - worth $5,000. And while the festival has sadly now been cancelled, these businesses have very generously chosen to postpone sponsorship for next years festival. Thank you so much Briggsy, Warbo and your great teams - we cant wait to work with you in 2021. In the meantime, heres to a cracking season ahead for both your businesses!

25.01.2022 Today is the day our festival would have inspired the whole community. Thousands of tourists to the region, precious money being spent in our town, Moree putting its best foot forward and proudly promoting what an awesome community we are. And what fun we would have had in the meantime.... Happy Saturday all - the 12 month countdown is officially on for Moree on a Plate 2021!

24.01.2022 It looks like our tireless Moree on a Plate President Chloe Hayes won't just be organising a festival in 2020 - but a wedding too! Congratulations Chloe and Alex, wonderful news and the whole Moree on a Plate family is thrilled for you!

24.01.2022 Originally launched as a platform to showcase and promote our wonderful local producers back in 2004, Moree on a Plate sadly won't be celebrating our thriving industries through our festival this year. Luckily, however, now in 2020 we have a whole new platform to showcase and promote our stall holders - social media! We're so excited to promote our loyal producers, and how you at home can still support them during this upheaval - starting with the lovely Phoebe of A Tasty ...Surprise. Phoebe has developed a delicious range of condiments including oils, aiolis, jams, mayos and some seriously sweet treats, all available from her online store www.phoebes.com.au And of course she runs Moree gourmet food emporium and floristry icon, A Tasty Surprise, a bricks and mortar shopfront in the main street. The shop is still welcoming customers, with strict social distancing requirements, and is hopping with Easter treats and deli delights. We may not be able to entertain this Easter, but we sure can treat our households to a beautiful feast and delightful fresh flowers regardless! See more

23.01.2022 THE festival may be cancelled, but the show must go on. Thats the message from incoming Moree on a Plate Festival president, Chloe Hayes, whose maiden tenure was abruptly cut short due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Click link to read the full article, welcome Chloe, and give our wonderful outgoing president, Bethany Kelly, the huge applause she deserves!... http://www.deluxecafemoree.com.au/plans-already-afoot-for-/

23.01.2022 If you're anything like us, these long days spent at home and cooler weather has our minds straying constantly towards something sweet - and our lovely friends at Freshly Berried have just the thing to satisfy! Using fresh berries grown on their small, family-run New England farm, Freshly Berried creates a smorgasboard of delights - from jams through to ice-creams - and is currently taking orders for an ARMIDALE delivery later in the week. Choose from a 'Jam Special', Apple and Blackberry Crumble Pies or home-made brownies, but just remember orders are due this evening, Tuesday, May 19. For more information and to keep up to date with what's on offer from this fabulous local producer, make sure you follow Freshly Berried on Facebook and Instagram!

23.01.2022 Our committee is absolutely thrilled to have been successful in securing a $10,000 NSW Government grant for our 2021 festival, ensuring our fantastic event will be back, bigger and better than ever! Thank you to local member, Adam Marshall, we're looking forward to once again being able to showcase our wonderful town and local produce.

21.01.2022 Following on from our previous post regarding Moree's cultural renaissance, here's just one more spectacular reasons why a mini-break to Moree will not disappoint! Art lovers, golfers...the opportunities are endless in our little neck of the woods! Buyfromthebush Stayinthebush

21.01.2022 We think everyday is a good day for a G&T - especially when your gin is distilled locally! David and Susie of Glen Gowrie Distillery are pioneers of the vodka, gin and liqueurs industry in the region, and are not afraid to experiment with flavours - and the results are mouth-watering. The business uses local and regional fruits and potatoes, sourced directly from growers, to produce their products, which includes Lime Vodka, Shiraz Gin and Pecan Liqueur, just to name a few. We love having Glen Gowrie Distillery in our Moree on a Plate family, and while this Glenn Innes based business's Cellar Door is currently closed, everyone can experience its delicious range of vodka, rum, gin and liqueurs thanks to its online shop at www.glengowriedistillery.com.au

20.01.2022 Winner, Winner, Chicken Pie Dinner!! It's perfect pie weather here in Moree, and we are thrilled that two of our favourite MOP supporters - Cafe Gali and Patisserie Fe Fi Fo have teamed up to provide the most delicious chicken pies to the community. FeFiFo's pies and pastries are available TODAY from Cafe Gali. Cafe Gali will have different pies available each Thursday, and keep an eye on its social media to make sure you don't miss out on frequent deliveries of the sweetest, most delicious pastries. And for all our Inverell friends, how lucky you are to have Patisserie Fe Fi Fo at your fingertips! It's delicious, freshly baked pastries, pies and lasagnes are available from the shopfront, 145b Otho St, which is currently opened Saturday and Sundays, 7am until 12 noon.

20.01.2022 Our sights are set on some warming, comfort food during these blistery winter days, and our friends at Moree Thai Cuisine certainly know how to turn up the heat! Delicious, authentic and affordable Thai food, and their lunch-time specials, including a take-away menu, means you don't even need to wait until dinner time to warm your belly! Thanks so much for all your support over the years Moree Thai Cuisine, Moree is spoilt for choice when it comes diverse menu options, how lucky we are!

19.01.2022 Our 2020 festival may have ground to a halt, but behind the scenes our committee certainly hasn't! And thanks to the talent of The Moree Men's Shed, we now have some great new timber and chalk board producer signs - ready to roll for our 2021 festival. These will hang neatly from each producer's stall - and I don't think any of the committee will miss the hours spent after each festival unpicking sticky tape from the old producer signs! Thank you so much to the Moree Men's Shed who we commissioned to do this job, and who also very kindly donated this storage box they made specifically for our signs, it was very generous of you!

19.01.2022 We're finally able to creep beyond our town limits, and Moree is calling! For a small rural community, Moree sure punches well above its weight when it comes to cultural offerings, with the prestigious Archibald Prize currently on exhibition at Bank Art Museum Moree - BAMM, stunning Indigenous works at Yaama Ganu Gallery & Cafe Gali and a beautiful group exhibition on show at The Moree Gallery Thank you ABC for sharing this wonderful story, we could all do with positive stories like this right now, and if you're looking for a mini-break in NSW - look this way!

18.01.2022 In the Narrabri region and stuck for a last minute Mother's Day gift? Well, you're in luck! The fabulous Treen of Relish Catering Narrabri has her shopfront opened (with strict social distancing measures in place) and it is filled with ready-made meals and hampers, plus a delightful smorgasbord of boards, currently on sale. Treen has been one of MOP's greatest supporters - her delicious ragu pasta still very much a topic of conversation! We can't wait to all sample her beautiful fare again at next year's festival, we miss you Treen!

17.01.2022 It sure is couch and donut weather - and guess what? MOREE youre in luck! Moree on a Plate may have been cancelled, but our fabulous friends at GFree Donuts Gwydir have still managed to find their way to Moree this May, setting up a stand today outside Moree Salvation Army Family Store. These delicious donuts are being sold today only so get yourselves there pronto!!

17.01.2022 There's nothing that brightens a home on a blistery day more than a delightful arrangement by the lovely Tia of The Bespoke Botanical Co. With an eye for detail and beauty, Tia is proof that isolation is no barrier when it comes to providing a quality service and product. From her home town of Mungindi - nestled in one of the farthest corners of NSW - she sources a gorgeous and unique range of fresh flowers and foliage for all occasions, from extravagant weddings to a simple 'thank you' bouquet. And as it's so chilly outside, we interpret that as the perfect excuse to snuggle indoors with one of Tia's beautiful bunches of fresh flowers to admire!

17.01.2022 Add some serious cred to your home cooking skills with some freshly harvested trout - healthy, easy to prepare and oh so delicious. For those in the Tamworth/Nundle region, long-term Moree on a Plate supporters, Arc-en-Ciel Trout Farm, Hanging Rock, NSW remain open for #farmgate sales only - weekdays from 10am until 2pm. And for aspiring home chefs they've even come up with a hashtag - #trythetrout - for mouth-watering inspiration and encouragement! Avoid the crowds and stock up on this divine range, which includes trout pate and dips, and delicious smoked trout -which has an excellent shelf life. We sure will miss seeing you at our festival this year Russ and Myrtle, but for for all the Moree locals, we're very relieved we can still access your beautiful produce at A Tasty Surprise

17.01.2022 There's nothing like a lock down to hone those home cooking skills - and we've got the waistlines to prove it! If you're looking for more creative ideas in the kitchen, Moree is one of Australia's premier pecan growing regions, and this nutritious, versatile nut is a perfect ingredient. The fabulous Rob and Susie Long of Pally Pecans have shared a number of their favourite recipes, just in time for Mother's Day, so why not whip up something special for the lady in your life - or you could just whip something up because you're bored, we've been doing plenty of that lately! Thanks Susie and Rob, we're so lucky to have your delicious fresh pecans in the district, and Pally Pecans are currently available at Tourism Moree Inc and A Tasty Surprise

17.01.2022 A beautiful evening on the banks of the Gwydir this week for our annual Moree on a Plate committee Christmas dinner, hosted so perfectly by the tireless Margi Kirkby. Thank you to all our committee - this year was certainly not what we expected - although it did provided us time to stop, regroup and prepare for an even more exciting festival in 2021, at this stage to be held on Saturday May 8. Thank you to Margi for a delicious meal and lovely evening, and of course if there's anyone in the community who would like to join this fantastic committee, we'd love to have you! A great way to meet new people and contribute to our fantastic town. Merry Christmas all and here's to a festival-filled 2021!

16.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all our wonderful supporters, including talented chef Chai from Moree icon, Thub Thim Thai Moree Restaurant We hope all the fathers, and father figures, out there are having a great day, and indulging in plenty of local food and produce!

16.01.2022 Our fabulous Moree community is only as strong as the people in it - and thankfully Moree is full of good ones! If anyone would like to contribute to the social fabric of our town, meet new people and have plenty of laughs in the meantime, Moree on a Plate is calling for volunteers. 16.01.2022 If theres one thing this global disruption has highlighted, its how fortunate we are here in regional Australia to have direct access to home grown fresh produce, and products. Wonderful MOP exhibitors, Bakarindi have plenty of award winning pantry items made from the bush foods grown on their property at Upper Corindi. Their farm comprises hundreds of Finger Limes, 60 Riberries, plus ever-expanding Davidson Plum plantings, Lemon and Aniseed Myrtle, garlic and chillies. Fr...om Finger Lime Pickles, Lemon Myrtle Butter, Macadamia Satay, Davidson Plum and Chili Sauce there is a condiment to suit any taste and zing up any meal! Not to mention the health benefits of eating native foods! Bakarindi Bush Foods have been delivering stocks of fresh garlic, finger limes and products to local customers, however for those further afield they have a fantastic website, and even better - they are currently offering free delivery to the Eastern Seaboard for orders over $50 of their multi-award winning yummy stock!!! 15.01.2022 After much consideration our committee has decided that in the interest of public safety, the 2020 Moree on a Plate Food and Wine Festival will unfortunately not go ahead. We are devastated for our producers, for which MOP is such an effective and profitable platform, our local suppliers, whose businesses rely on these large scale events, and our community, which has embraced this signature festival for the past 16 years. However, in these uncertain times, the health of our community is paramount. Stay safe everyone, and well keep working hard behind the scenes for an even bigger and better Moree on a Plate 2021!

14.01.2022 It's hard to keep track of what day it is at the moment - but you definitely don't want to forget that today is Wednesday - Sushi Wednesday to be exact! Providing delicious coffee to our MOP crowds for over ten years now, Billy and Cindy of Deluxe Cafe Moree are still open (with strict social distancing rules) for business from their van, situated on the corner of Warialda and Alice Streets, Moree. Their crispy chicken lunch boxes are also back on the menu on Thursdays, with a full menu available at www.deluxcafemoree.com.au/menu They suggest phoning or texting your order to 0418 487 868 in advance, particularly as their sushi is often a sell-out! Thanks so much Billy and Cindy, you and your van are a fixture of Moree and all our local events and it's great to have you back on the corner again!

14.01.2022 As a significant regional event attracting thousands of visitors, Moree on a Plate is acutely aware of the implications coronavirus will have on our event. Given this unprecedented and ever-evolving situation, we are currently in discussions regarding the 2020 festival, and will advise all our wonderful and loyal producers, visitors and sponsors the outcome after our next committee meeting on March 25.

13.01.2022 At this time of year there's nothing better than alfresco meals in the springtime garden - in this region a precious treat before the mozzies, flies and 40 degree summer heat descends!! And we know one key ingredient that will further enhance the serenity, and that's the delicious, quality produce direct from paddock to plate thanks to our very good friends Derek and Kirrily Blomfield of The Conscious Farmer Grassfed Beef. With a passion for healthy eating via nutritious, ch...emical free beef and regenerative agriculture, the Blomfield's grass fed beef hampers are delivered across NSW, ACT and parts of Queensland and Victoria. Derek and Kirrily have been long-time supporters of Moree on a Plate and it's been a thrill to see their business expand and evolve over the past decade. When it comes to food provenance and agricultural sustainabilty this business has been ahead of the game for years, so it's little wonder The Conscious Farmer Grassfed Beef is now acclaimed nationally, with a large, and loyal following. 13.01.2022 Aint love grand! Happy Valentines Day to all the love birds out there, we can't wait to see you all out and about at Moree on a Plate again this year, Saturday, May 9, 2020!

12.01.2022 It's one of Moree's most iconic restaurants, renowned across the state for its authentic Thai cuisine - and the only thing better than a Sunday evening Thub Thim Thai Moree Restaurant take-away, or dine-in, is when Monday is a public holiday!! We hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend, our fabulous friends at Thub Thim Thai are opened - and ready to ensure your weekend is even more relaxing!

11.01.2022 Moree on a Plate is so proud of our wonderful little town, and the marvellous people and businesses within it. It’s been a rough couple of years, but Moree always manages to find the good, and despite Covid, we’re excited for the fun times ahead now the season has improved

08.01.2022 We sure are sick of drinking alone, so with restrictions slowly lifting theres never been a better time to stock up on some good drops to enjoy with friends. A dear friend to Moree on a Plate, Mark Kirkby of Topper's Mountain Wines, produces highly acclaimed, award-winning quality wines thanks to the high altitude, cool climate and volcanic soils at his Tingha vineyard. Packed with exciting alternative varieties that revel in their terroir, Marks wines are wonderfully unique, and while his cellar door remains closed, purchased are available via his website www.toppers.com.au While the vineyard was severely impacted by bushfires this summer, we are thrilled that Marks enthusiasm for producing quality, honest wine has not diminished, and Moree on a Plate cant wait to continue this journey with you.

08.01.2022 A fabulous article about the benefits of volunteering - particularly pertinent out here in the bush where we don't have easy access to beaches, shopping centres, amusement parks, cinemas. We're very good at creating our own entertainment and fun for our community, largely thanks to generous volunteers. Moree is such a great 'can do' town, its community spirit heartfelt thanks to our volunteers - out here if we don't do it, no one is going to do it for us! So many people we speak to assume MOP is a professionally run event, when in reality it's organised entirely by a dedicated group of volunteers, all out of the goodness of their hearts as they juggle families, work and life. Our festival is one of the greatest testaments to the strength of volunteering in Moree, and new members are always welcomed!

07.01.2022 Armidale friends listen up! One of the most popular exhibitors at last year's festival was Mak's Turkish Gozleme - we're still salivating at the thought of his delicious gozlemes. Fortunately for the Armidale region this hardworking couple is still delivering fresh meals and sweet treats across the local area, so if you don't feel like cooking give Arif a call on 0476248717. We've found a delivered meal is also a wonderful gift idea for loved ones in the area - Arif is exceptionally easy to deal with and goes above and beyond! We wish this wonderful business all the best during these tricky times and can't wait to savour your Turkish fare at next year's festival.

07.01.2022 Is there anything more picturesque than an orchard in its full spring glory? The cherry blossoms on our wonderful MOP supporters Roth Family Orchard in Mudgee are particularly spectacular at the moment. The orchard is now open to share some of this joy, entry is free however numbers are limited and bookings essential to maintain COVID safety (and if you're allergic to bees stay at home - these busily little workers are busy doing their job pollinating!) Bookings for cherry ... picking will open mid October - an opportunity to collect your own fresh bounty, direct from the tree. For more information on this wonderful experience, or to order the Roth family's delicious cherries and cherry based produce and accompaniments, jump over to their facebook page. We're so pleased to hear the season is going well down there, and here's to plenty of cherries in the months ahead! See more

06.01.2022 Spring is just around the corner and there's nothing that packs a more flavoursome punch into salads, nibbles or sandwiches, than sun-dried tomatoes. And believe us - Narrabri's Lindy McMicking's are the Rolls Royce of sun dried tomatoes! Her home-made 'Lindy's Marinated Sun Dried Tomatoes' have been a feature of Moree on a Plate since some of our very first festivals, and with her deliciously plump and flavoursome marinated sun dried tomatoes it's little wonder Lindy has amassed a vast, and dedicated following over the past decade. Lindy's produce is available at a number of retailers across the region, including A Tasty Surprise The Larder - Goondiwindi Meat on Maitland Relish Catering Narrabri and The Plains Pantry so stock up for a serious flavour injection.

05.01.2022 The last day of term and it's a three cup kinda day already! We are so lucky to have the fabulous Damon of Outback Espresso Moree on hand here in Moree - and now in a great new location right on the main drag in Frome Street. While COVID-19 initially spelt doom for his coffee cart business, with his former site in Heber St locking down, the forced move into the Moree Mitre 10 car park was a blessing in disguise. The new site is proving extremely popular with customers, and Damon is thrilled with the new space. Opened Monday to Friday, 7am-12 and Saturday 8am to noon, pop down and say hello, he's also available for meetings, workplace orders, events, parties and shows.

05.01.2022 Our hearts are heavy across the district, and the country, after Moree recently lost one of its finest, the wonderful Barb Glennie. Moree on a Plate was one of the many community organisations Barb volunteered her time, and her powerhouse of energy, towards - working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring our festival together. Incredibly community-minded, Barb always had her apron at-the-ready, and would take on any job with a willing smile and enormous efficiency. She coul...d often be found swinging precariously off fence posts and ladders just to get a piece of cotton to display perfectly or a sign to sit just right. From helping design our beautiful main street, which we all so enjoy, to contributing to the early days of the local cotton industry, Barb was the quiet achiever behind so many of the great Moree initiatives that make our town so special. Everyone's favourite, she will be greatly missed, and we send all our love and thoughts to Peter, Sarah, Emma, Kate and their families. See more

04.01.2022 We know a few mums out there who would definitely appreciate their own sleep sanctuary at the moment - and Lucinda Chick's beautiful range of hand-poured candles is a good start! Lucinda, one of our festival regulars, creates beautiful candles and has developed her own range of diffusers, creams and washes through her brand Sleep Sanctuary. Lucky Moree locals can access her divine range in-store at Botanica Home and Tea Room Moree in Heber Street, while her online store www.botanichome.com.au is available to those further afield. Lucinda's candles are always a popular Mother's Day choice - creating a sense of tranquility and calm, which is certainly what everyone needs during these crazy days.

03.01.2022 Before the outbreak we were just about to press 'send' on this year's Moree on a Plate signage, all care of the wonderful Ali Harris of Blue Duck Design who very generously donates her time and talent to our great event. But all is not lost, we very much look forward to using Ali's posters and artwork for next year's festival - and they're definitely worth the wait! Thank you Ali for all that you contribute to our festival, we can't wait to share your work in 2021 xx

03.01.2022 Moree is renowned for its rich soils and stellar production capabilities, with an impressive diversity of produce grown on our black soil plains. We are so proud to have one of Australia's largest family-owned fresh juice businesses, Grove Juice right on our doorstep, its orchards a relative newcomer to the local agricultural landscape. Grove Juice is always an extremely generous supporter of Moree on a Plate, and with winter fast approaching, we know what we'll be drinking to keep up our vitamin C!

02.01.2022 Has all this hand washing left anyone else with a serious case of 'man hands'!? Thankfully the fabulous Clare Felton Taylor of Jojoba Natural has the perfect remedy. Her beautiful range of body care products and oils is derived from the family's Jojoba Plantation, and is as luxurious as it is natural. Available for men also (and we sure know a few who could use it), Clare's range of body balms replenishes the skin and are fantastic for dry, cracked hands, elbows and feet - ...and can even be used as a facial moisturiser. Lips balms, shampoos, conditioners are all included in the Jojoba Natural range, as well as beautiful hand-wash to ensure everyone continues to stay vigilant - but with the soothing benefits of jojoba. Find out more about this dynamo of a desert plant, and see Clare's beautiful range for yourself at www.jojobanatural.com.au See more

02.01.2022 The happiest of Mothers Day to all the special women out there, particularly our very own committee member Sandra Squires who today celebrates her first Mothers Day with gorgeous Elizabeth. A heartfelt thank you to Sandra for all your hard work as our treasurer, and to her Boyce Chartered Accountant colleagues for so generously sponsoring Moree on a Plate annually.
