19.01.2022 NSW Health is urging people to take precautions with heatwave conditions forecast for parts of the state this weekend. Simple ways to reduce the risk of heat-re...lated illness include: Avoid the heat of the day by staying indoors and keeping cool by using air-conditioning, fans and drawing blinds and curtains closed Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water Check on the welfare of vulnerable neighbours, friends and family Plan ahead for hot days. Signs of heat related illness include dizziness, tiredness, irritability, thirst, fainting, muscle pains or cramps, rapid pulse, shallow breathing, vomiting and confusion. People showing severe signs should seek urgent medical attention and, in an emergency situation, call Triple Zero (000). People should also continue to practise COVID-19 safe behaviour during the heatwave. If you are able to cool your home through a combination of fans, air-conditioning and closed blinds, please do so and stay at home. This is so physical distancing in other indoor spaces where people may seek relief from the heat, such as libraries or shopping centres, is not compromised. If you do leave your home to visit other indoor spaces, please physically distance and wear a face mask in places where you cannot maintain 1.5 metres distance from others. Keep in touch with relatives, neighbours and friends virtually through phone, social media or video call.

16.01.2022 Following an increase in COVID-19 cases in Sydney's Northern Beaches region, additional border restrictions will be implemented in Queensland. The Northern Beac...hes Local Government Area is a declared COVID-19 hotspot. Anyone who arrives in Queensland that has been in that LGA since 11 December will need to go into government mandated quarantine for 14 days from the date they arrived in Queensland. From 1am Sunday 20 December, anyone entering Queensland from NSW will need a Queensland Border Declaration Pass. Travellers can apply for a pass online from 8pm tonight. We are also asking anyone who has been in Greater Sydney or the NSW Central Coast who enters Queensland to get tested and self isolate until they receive their result. We strongly recommend Queenslanders intending travel to Sydney to reconsider their plans. We will continue to carefully monitor the situation in NSW. Anyone with any symptoms of COVID-19, no matter how mild, should get tested immediately. Stay home and isolate until you get the results and your symptoms resolve. To find your closest testing location, visit: https://www.qld.gov.au/covid19testing You can also visit our bot to find your closest testing location: http://qld.health/TestLocator

15.01.2022 ALCOHOL FREE ZONES RE-ESTABLISHED Alcohol Free Zones (Zones) have been re-established in Moree, Boggabilla and Mungindi following a resolution passed by Counci...l and signage replaced advising of the zones. The Zones have been re-established within 300 metres of outlets supplying alcohol in Boggabilla and Mungindi and within 500 metres in Moree. The draft proposal to re-establish the Zones in Moree, Boggabilla and Mungindi was on public exhibition for 30 days and accessible to community members for comment through Council’s website. Relevant stakeholders such as Moree Community Safety Committee, NSW Police, local Licensees, Local Aboriginal Land Councils and the Anti-Discrimination Board were also invited through direct correspondence to provide feedback on the proposal. Four submissions were in support of the re-establishment of the Zones while one submission requested a variation. Upon review, Council considered there was no need to modify or increase the area of the Zones. The Zones have been enforced within Moree, Boggabilla, and Mungindi since 2012, and have proven to be an effective tool in assisting NSW Police and Council to manage the safety of our community members. The blue shading in the maps below of Moree, Boggabilla, and Mungindi displays the roads, public car park, parks and footpaths included in the re-established Zones.

13.01.2022 Latest information for parents/ carers In accordance with advice from NSW Health, parents and carers are reminded not to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms. NSW Health have requested that schools encourage anyone who is unwell or has even mild flu-like symptoms, to arrange to be tested through their... local medical practitioner or one of the COVID-19 clinics. Students and staff with flu-like symptoms need to be tested and provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom free before being permitted to return to school. Students who do not undertake a COVID-19 test result will not be permitted to return to school for a 10 day period. Additionally they must be symptom-free for at least 3 days before returning to school. Students who have seasonal allergic rhinitis or another condition that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms are still required to get tested for COVID-19 and return a negative test result. Where their symptoms continue beyond 10 days, students should provide documentation from their GP confirming their symptoms are typical for their condition. If the student develops new or changed symptoms, they should get tested for COVID-19. Find more information about COVID-19 symptoms. COVID-19 testing for students with complex health or disability may be challenging. In these situations, schools will ask the parent or carer to have their child assessed by their medical practitioner. Where a medical practitioner determines that a COVID-19 test is not required, documentation must be provided to the school to confirm that the student does not have symptoms that warrant a COVID-19 test. The certificate must also indicate that the student is able to return to school. https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19 See more

03.01.2022 KEEPING OUR CHILDREN SAFE! With school holidays upon us, chances are your children are spending more time on the internet. Remind your children: NEVER give ou...t your personal information online. This includes your name, address, what school you go to, your phone number, and never send a picture of yourself over the internet. NEVER write to someone who has made you feel uncomfortable or scared. NEVER meet someone or have them visit you without permission from your parents. TELL your parents right away if you read anything on the internet that makes you feel uncomfortable. REMEMBER that people online may not be who they say they are. Someone who says that she is a 12-year old girl could really be an older man, no matter what their photo looks like.
