22.01.2022 Last night I attended the exciting magazine launch of @newcastlebaby. This is a fantastic and much needed FREE resource for local parents! I would of loved to flick through one of these when I first fell pregnant to support me with some of my decision making! If you would like a copy, next time you see me ask me as I’ll be carrying some around.... She spoke so frankly about her experience of the early days of mother hood and I just wanted to thank her for TALKING about it openly! New mothers and the support network around them need to know how to manage their mental wellbeing and identify when they are not coping so they know how to get help!

Grab Life By The Balls is a positive men's mental health movement. Their events are centered around mate-ship, connection and community; and they do this in a very casual and laid back way...Aussie as. They meet on a weekly basis in Newcastle on friday mornings at Hubro from 6:45am and monthly for a burger night - their next one is this wednesday at the blind monk in Hamilton everyone is welcome and they love seeing new faces. 15.01.2022 Annnnddddd that’s a wrap Mumma’s! It fills me with the full spectrum of emotions to let you all know that More Than a Mumma has come to an end. I wish I could blame it on the Rona.... but I have been working behind the scenes on wrapping up More Than a Mumma for a few months now.... You all know what my mission was. A big yummy space for Mummas to connect so that their mental health and wellbeing became more of a priority. It was too big for me to contend with, my family, relationships and work commitments needed equal if not more energy from me and I couldn’t push myself any more...... it would go against everything I had been fighting to achieve for others if my own world crumbled around me. My children’s needs have also increased and they need me to be there for them! I started to list every person and local business I wanted to thank but I realise that I would be here for absolutely hours trying to map those people out due to the overwhelming amount of support and encouragement I received from such a diverse range of community members. The one person I will thank is my mother. Many of you know she faced a life of mental illness and addiction which ultimately contributed in the end of her own life nearly two years ago. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t of started this mission in the first place. Although I only got so far in the pursuit of the Mumma Hub, I get such a buzz from recalling all the connections I saw develop along the way. People realising they are More Than a Mumma - meeting new people - creating stronger relationships within themselves and others. We raised about $5,000 since we transitioned to being a Not For Profit. Due to event sponsorship, ticket sales ect and I am thrilled to advise you this money has been donated to the Hunter Womens Centre in Mayfield NSW. They have told me this money will go towards the development of an outdoor area where group work will be facilitated as well as a break out space for women to feel safe and secure. So you will no longer hear me harping on about self care..... but it doesn’t mean you should stop thinking about it for yourself. Please stay in touch.
