24.01.2022 Peter McGrath "I love, Ballarat’s history, I enjoy Ballarat’s present and I am excited by Ballarat’s future. My mother’s family arrived in Ballarat in 1856. Sovereign Hill is Ballarat when my Great Grandfather was a boy. I am 5th generation Ballarat, that makes my grandchildren 7th generation. I have travelled and lived in a number of countries but have always returned to Ballarat. Ballarat is quite simply ‘home’ and I am proud to call it so." "Travelling away and then ret...urning was probably one of the smarter things in life that I have done as it enabled me to see just how much we in the lucky country take for granted. Here in Ballarat we are blessed with a wonderful environment in which to live, work and raise our families. Our education and medical facilities are outstanding. Ballarat ticks all the boxes." It certainly does Peter, thank you so much for being one of our great ambassadors!

Melbourne beckoned and I moved there straight after school for University, and stayed for many years, where I built my career and had a family." "Our third baby arrived, and our eldest was about to start school when we realised that Ballarat was definitely the place we wanted to raise our family. We wanted to give our children all the amazing opportunities we had growing up, and Ballarat allows us to do ...that." Thank you Sarah for your support and being one of our fabulous ambassadors!

"Now I come back here and think I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.... by Lachlan Bence for The Courier

16.01.2022 Bridget Aitchison This is a special community." My experience of living regionally is that a lot of regional or rural areas are very closed communities, but people here have been so warm and welcoming. I have met some amazing people here."... 13.01.2022 Kerry Armstrong As family dynamics change we made the decision to make the move for a bit more room and a little bit of a change in direction from the hustle and bustle of living centrally." We’ve got motorbikes, alpacas, the dog, and the chooks at home.... It’s having the best of both worlds; having access to amenities, but also then being able to step back and enjoy the sanctuary of your own home and the development of the outer suburbs is bringing the amenities closer. As long as we don’t lose that, we will be fine. Hopefully there will not be too much growth, but just enough to sustain us and keep that community." Coming to Clunes is probably the best move we ever made. A lot of people are seeing that, which is why there are hardly any houses for sale." There are some really unique characters in town who are accepted for their differences, which I really love, including me. by Rochelle Kirkham for The Courier

11.01.2022 In the region, the community spirit is tangible and the sense of belonging is strong. Getting involved is easy with the choice of community groups and service clubs impressive. Whether it be in the older, established precincts, the new suburban areas, or in the nearby historic townships, there is a friendly, inclusive and diverse community that will welcome you. Great to see this article in The Courier where two women have come together to give the gift of friendship and companionship to the community and to themselves, hosting up to 150 people at their free Country Community Christmas at Dean Hall on Christmas Day offering Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, carols and games.

If we had done the same thing in Melbourne I think things would have been perhaps a bit different." In a country town, if you do good, honest work and if you’re genuine enough I feel patients will come to you, whether it be a surgery or a shop, but as long as you stick to those principles.
