25.01.2022 I was called out to wrangle this naughty rascally whippet pup Who am i kidding LOL we snuggled on my lap and smooched and she had a nibble on my nose Only thing better than a whippet is a whippet baby ... We are helping Daisy with focus around distractions, recall and loose lead walking. Very much looking forward to working with this darling

23.01.2022 Monday night Beginners Course finished on a high last night. They have learnt so much in the last 9 weeks and every single one of them has made huge progress. But special shout out goes to our 3 place getters: Sandra and Oby in 3rd , Iris and Colin in 2nd and in first place we have Madhavi, stepping in to fill his owners shoes, guiding Arthur to a perfect 40/40 . Not to be outdone Sadie and Lauren received our Most Improved , Renny one of our awesome greyhounds finally pulled off the downs and little Peppi the yorkie pup doing the the perfect recall Huge congrats guys Classes kick back off on the 1st Feb next year
20.01.2022 I don't have favourites, i love working with all my clients ..... BUT i don't mind admitting to looking forward to seeing these lovely ladies each fortnight Daisy the whippet is working really hard on focusing around distractions- particularly dogs- and meeting them appropriately. While Lana the aussie needed help with seperation anxiety- which we are pleased to say she has progressed to being left alone for up to 3 hours at a time now and enjoys her hand made activity mat. And is also now working on focusing around distractions and appropriate meet n greets with people and dogs.

09.01.2022 I think everyone in Townsville last night was woken by the storm we had. And it was the sort of storm we haven't had for years. We were up for 2 hours with our 2 year old girl Celeste. Celeste has never been phased by other storms or the sounds of the bombs going off behind us on the range when the Army does exercises up there- and some of those will shake the house. But last night was different for her. At the start she went out during the storm to go to the toilet- exhibiti...ng minor stress like panting. As the storm wore on she become our shadow, couldn't settle and while sitting with me at one stage she had a twitchy paw- no trembling or shaking just one paw twitching. My dogs sleep in their crates at night and about half hour into the storm and after a particularly loud crack of thunder Havoc popped up in her crate and wanted to be let out. Once she was out she was happy to lay on the couch close to us but wasn't as stressed as Celeste. Everyone else was awake but chilling comfortably in their crates while the storm was happening. You will see several videos showing Celeste and Havoc working through some easy floor puzzles. In one video, after a huge crack of thunder you will see Celeste pause and watch her step towards me to then turn back to her toy. The aim was to give her something else to do, a way to direct her nervous energy and limit her pacing without confining her and coddling her. There is also a video of her standing on the couch with me. You will see i have an arm around her, but i am not coddling or fussing her. It is more drapped over her. If either girl needed reassurance i would lay a hand on there shoulder or above their tail and then they would move on but could come back to me if needed. There is however nothing wrong with providing more comfort to your dog if they generally fear storms. Mine do not and i do not want to encourage or reinforce the behaviour. We will see if she develops a fear to storms after last night.
08.01.2022 And that's a wrap for Group Classes Thursday class finished with Nicola and Aria in first place AND our Most Improved , Catherine and Barney in 2nd place and David and Macie in 3rd place . Congrats to everyone, progress and improvement has been made by each and everyone of you and it has been fantastic to work you all.
08.01.2022 Some behaviour problems can be caused from pain. If i notice something or suspect an injury i will either suggest they see their vet or refer to Muzzle to Muscle. In Daisys case she hitches one of her rear legs and the owner had already seen the vet with no resolution so Daisy has been seeing the ladies at Muzzle to Muscle. Her injury isn't the cause of behaviour but can be a contributing factor.... Daisy is a working line border collie whos problems stem from a lack of a 'job'. So we are working with her owner to address car chasing, obsessive behaviours, herding the other dogs she lives with, dog and horse reactivity. And she is doing amazing
07.01.2022 It isn't work for me when i get to hang with whippets Met Bronte and Jonty today to work on loose lead walking, being quiet at dinner time and not diving nose first into his dinner bowl before the bowl is on the ground. And of course Miss Bronte was fitted with another one of our collars.

06.01.2022 We finished the year on a high with Sasha. This is her second session- you will find a video in the comments of her first session. Sasha has pulled her owner over before and gets way too excited around other dogs. Between the 2 videos you can see her owners confidence has grown, and they are enjoying short walks up and down her street. We also did some work today with my girl Jess and teaching Sasha to look away from Jess and keep walking. Yes Sasha still has aways to go but ...we are very happy with the progress in just 2 weeks. I am off now until 18th Jan. Enjoy your Christmas and New Year, be safe and i very much look forward to working with you all next year
