02.01.2022 Two of our staff members have decided to participate in the Push up Challenge to raise money for Headspace Mackay. Below is a message from Ali and Chloe. Please get behind them and help them to reach their goal. Chloe and I have decided to participate in the push up challenge next month (11th-31st of May). We will have to complete 3,046 push ups over the three weeks as a pair. We are going to be raising money to go towards headspace in Mackay. We have a few fundraisers comin...g up so watch this space to see what they are! I'm sure all of us have either been affected by or know of someone who has been affected by a mental health issue. Creating an awareness around mental health is something that is extremely important to me. Myself and Chloe want to make a difference, however small, in a young person's life through this organisation. We have already reached our original goal of $500 and have now increased our goal to $800. We need your help to reach our goal! Please click on the link below to donate towards Headspace Mackay. Thanks [https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/te/4729-ali-and-chloe](https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/te/4729-ali-and-chloe)
01.01.2022 Look at the juicy home grown watermelon from our community garden! Over the past few weeks we have noticed the watermelons getting very large. This week we took a walk around to the community garden to pick the watermelons. Once back at the center we cut them open and to our delight they were red and juicy. We then had the watermelons with afternoon tea each day. The scraps from the watermelons were placed in the worm farm, to help make some worm tea. This worm tea will ...then be used on our community garden as fertilizer. The children are heavily involved in the nurturing of the veggie patch and love seeing the produce grow. This concept allows the children to gain an understanding of where their fruit and veggies come from and foster healthy eating habits. Sustainable practices are also being embedded into the children’s routines by using the watermelon scraps for the worm farm.
