06.01.2022 WHAT'S ON !!! This season's work will include planting out at the Cape; weeding Prickly Pear & Mossman River Grass; propagation at the North Point nursery; and Rubbish removal. This season's work will be funded by volunteers and MIPC. VOLUNTEER DATES for the season/work at Blue Lagoon- Friday morning to Sunday evening:... Feb 23 - 25 Mar 9 - 11 Mar 23 25 Apr 20 22 May 11 13 NB there is a 2 day option Sat-Sun) min of 3 volunteers required for this to go ahead (see below re cost) Saturday 8.30 am min 3 required. Your luggage will travel on the deck of the MICat ferry. *PLEASE BOOK AT LEAST 1 WEEK IN ADVANCE** Send Text to Alan 0428783781 (text only no calls please) or Email [email protected] or call MIPC's answering service on 33211463. DEPART from 14 Howard Smith Drive, Port of Brisbane; Friday 8.30 am NB*Arrive by 8am for orderly loading of luggage. NB* For the Feb and March trips your luggage will travel on the deck of the MICat; NB* For the April and May trips your luggage will be loaded into a vehicle at the back of the Caltex in Howard Smith Drive. NB* At the MIPC ticket office do not pay for your MICat fare as your fare is to be paid by account. Parking MICAT charges $15 per day for parking Car parking on the street is recommended. Do NOT park where there are yellow lines. It is OK to drive in (right lane/tell ticket office) to drop your luggage at the waiting shelter and then park on the street (to the right when driving out again). On all return trips your luggage will travel in a vehicle and the vehicle will turn right into Howard Smith Drive to unload nearer to your cars on the street. SUNDAY RETURN departure from The Wrecks 4.30pm. VOLUNTEER COSTS - One-off $50 annual contribution- Volunteers are required to pay $50 as a contribution towards ferry fares for the year. The one-off contribution is required when nominating for the first trip. Volunteers will then be able to volunteer for the following 12 months at no extra cost. Volunteers attending for 3 days will work 9 hours. Volunteers attending for 2 days are required to pay an additional $45 each week-end to cover the cost of the transfer from the MICat to Blue Lagoon, as it is only possible to provide transport to 6 hours of work over the two days (Sat&Sun). Volunteers can choose to work less hours but are required to pay an extra $15 for every hour not worked. BYO *sleeping bag, *food, *esky, *plates, *mug & *cutlery *torch A camp kitchen and sleeping tents with stretchers are provided. Too busy to volunteer? - a tax deductible donation to support volunteers is great way to contribute. Prefer not to volunteer? - Recreational Weekends at Blue Lag. You are welcome to come on a Volunteer Weekend. Cost $180 - payable to MIPC.
