25.01.2022 Happy 85th birthday to the Hornibrook Bridge! Connecting the Redcliffe Peninsula to Brisbane’s northern suburbs, this iconic bridge changed our region forever Here are some fun facts:... Sir Manuel Richard Hornibrook built this bridge during the Great Depression of the 1930s creating hundreds of jobs At the time, it was the longest bridge in Australia at 2.6 kilometres It was also one of the first privately owned toll bridges in Queensland It is fondly remembered as the bumpy ride between Sandgate and Clontarf by some of our older Redcliffe residents You can check out exclusive memorabilia from the bridge at the Redcliffe Library until Friday 23 October or see the permanent display at the Redcliffe Museum Now it’s your turn to share your favourite memories of the Hornibrook Bridge with us

05.01.2022 We’re busy working on a conservation project at Kumbartcho Sanctuary & Nursery to help protect and enhance the natural habitat along the South Pine River Thanks to funding from the Australian Government through their Communities Environments Program grant scheme, we are: Planting 1,000 trees Removing weeds across a hectare of land... Stabilising a section of the river bank This is just one of 13 projects we’ve received funding for to help restore and protect flora and fauna across our region and make Moreton Bay greener for future generations

01.01.2022 JETTIES: TO CLOSE AT MIDDAY With a low pressure system likely to form and approach the southeast Queensland coast later today, Council will close Bongaree Jetty, Redcliffe Jetty & Woody Point Jetty from midday. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services - QFES advises that people should:... * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure loose outdoor items. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Surf Life Saving Australia recommends that you stay out of the water and stay well away from surf-exposed areas. * Check your property regularly for erosion or inundation by sea water, and if necessary raise goods and electrical items. * If near the coastline, stay well away from the water's edge. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
