11.01.2022 Moreton Bay's heritage protected wetlands, mudflats, and waterways are some of the healthiest in the region, supporting seasonally up to 25% of Australia's bird species. The bay is also home to other abundant wildlife, including whales, dolphins, dugong, sharks and turtles. The loggerhead turtle population in the bay is the most significant in the country.

08.01.2022 June 8th is World Ocean’s Day; this year’s theme is Innovation for a sustainable ocean. In the coming months the Information Centre and the Moreton Bay Discovery Centre will be installing fun, engaging and educational displays that present the latest in scientific research about our beautiful Moreton Bay. By better understanding our precious bay, we can all work together to keep it healthy and thriving for generations to come. #WynnumManlyTourismandVisitorInformationCentre #ManlyHarbourVillage #WilliamGunnJetty #MoretonBayDiscoveryCentre #WorldOceansDay #WorldOceansDay2020

08.01.2022 The dugongs in Moreton Bay are one of the largest and most researched populations of the species. In 2018 a tag and release study found 780 individuals within t...he bay! Thankfully, the dugongs within the bay have been maintaining a steady population for years, with only slight population changes yearly as a result of seasonal shifts in water temperature, seagrass abundance, and nutritional quality. After roughly 20 years of study, these trusty sea cows are still thriving! #dugongs #ocean #conservation #research #moretonbay Photo credit: Regatta Marine

01.01.2022 Dugong fun facts! Dugongs have relatively poor eyesight so rely on the sensitive bristles covering the upper lip of their large snouts to find and grasp seagrass. Cows and calves communicate by producing ‘chirps’. #Dugong #MoretonBay #MBDC #MoretonBayDiscoveryCentre #wildlife #queensland
