20.01.2022 Good morning, just a reminder our December events list is up online now. We have added some new locations including Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. https://www.ableanglers.com.au//local-events-disability-m/

20.01.2022 Update: One of our staff members, Roy has unfortunately injured themselves (outside of work) and we are unsure if he just wants to sit and watch TV with a leg brace on or if his boss is a tough one and he doesn’t like the boss. We hope Roy recovers soon or gets sick of binge watching TV.

20.01.2022 It’s Business As Usual here at Able Anglers. 2020 has seen some amazing, unusual and definitely unbelievable events occur throughout the year. We have seen a pandemic rip through our country, jobs that have otherwise been secure become insecure, families separated due to the pandemic and life as we once knew it has changed. There is no doubt that the pandemic and everything it brings with it has affected the mental health of many people, as a mental health respite service we... have seen, first hand the effects. Able Anglers have always focused on our participants and those around them including their support networks. We do not provide ‘just a service’ and we do not ‘just fish’. Our service is designed to provide mental health relief and social inclusion in a participant centred activity or activities. Able Anglers will only close on New Years Day and all other days we will be operating as per usual with no downtime. You can see our events and activities on our website www.AbleAnglers.com.au

13.01.2022 Everyone has goals in life, the goal maybe a job, a partner, a holiday or to be accepted and included! Able Anglers are always in awe of our group, for some, it has simply been completing an activity but what people don't realise is, the struggle is real! When some members have expressed things to us such as 'I lost all of my friends when I got sick', 'my doctor told me I would never walk', 'i smile but I'm constantly in pain' and these are just some things mentioned, it real...ly gives us a drive to succeed. Succeed in assisting people to live a quality life, make new friends and achieve things only possible in their wildest dreams! We have seen people smile, laugh and cry with excitement. We would love to see your comments below on how Able Anglers have assisted to, make a goal, a friendship, relive a memory or maybe simply make you smell like bait. 10.01.2022 Prior to starting Able Anglers, Steve was a professional, multi-award winning, internationally published photographer. We wanted to share some of the photos. Able Anglers will be releasing some photography tuition groups and outings soon. In the meantime, please enjoy these photos. Feel free to Share, Comment, Like or cough cough, Steal them if you like them.

09.01.2022 Fi Bee's recommendation is inspiring, Thank you for your kind words. This is why I started Able Anglers. It is not about focusing on any kind of Disability or Mental Illness, it is purely about ignoring the day to day aspects and live in the moment and enjoy the beautiful opportunities that are available. Many times, it has been said that Able Anglers is not actually about the catching of fish, it is about spending time with like minded people, making friends, having a laugh and enjoying mother nature.

08.01.2022 Able Anglers will do whatever it takes to achieve goals. Able Anglers have teamed up with Moreton Bay Jet Ski Hire who operate Jet Ski's at both ends of the Pumicestone Passage. 07.01.2022 One thing we love here at Able Anglers is meeting new participants. Today we met Leon and Tammy who both caught fish and laughs. Both have said they will be regulars, this is what we love, making people smile and knowing that their week has started perfectly! When you have a participant drive all the way from Ioswich and from from Wynnum to the Northside to join the team that rocks, you know you have a great service.... Thank you for coming out today and joining our session. #ableanglers #reelopportunitiesforrealpeople #mentalillness #disability #mentalhealth #respiteservice www.ableanglers.com.au

05.01.2022 We are so thrilled that we bring joy to the lives of others, in fact, ‘Reel Opportunities For Real People’. Participants from far and wide love our social groups, the banter, the laughs and of course, sometimes the fishing. Today, we had participants come from Laidley, Wooloowin, Caboolture, Beenleigh and more to join in the fun!... Today we had an amazing session, our regular session was full and included a free BBQ lunch for all participants and support workers. Close to 30 sausages downed straight from the bbq. Only a couple of fish caught but a great amount of socialising was done. #ableanglers #disability #mentalhealth #mentalillness #ndis #socialising #ndisaustralia #ndis

05.01.2022 REWARD OFFERED: Yesterday our drone was ‘picked up’ from on the Hornibrook Pier at Clontarf/Redcliffe. While we understand that people like to ‘get their hands on things of other peoples’, for graciously looking after our drone, if the person would like to return the drone, all of the bag contents and the bag, we will help you out with a nice little thank you. While the drone is owned by Able Anglers the drone has been reported to QLD Police, Moreton Bay Regional Council a...nd CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) as it is registered with them. The serial number, model and photos of the bag contents, we have, to correctly identify the drone when it is returned. Thank you for your time.
