25.01.2022 If you live on or frequent the SMBIs and dont have this awesome local app built by Travis Place on Russell Island, then you are missing out. Great work, Travis. https://www.bayislandsguide.com/

25.01.2022 We are doing lots more than just great Broadband. Please comment any ideas you have about other services we can add which will make life better for you.

24.01.2022 This would be perfect for a calm day on Moreton Bay. Launch from one of the SMBIs? Just add Moreton Bay ISP Wi-Fi, live post to Social Media for free and be the envy of all your friends.

23.01.2022 Telstra reduces its stated NBN Fixed Wireless speeds. https://www.itnews.com.au//telstra-restates-its-nbn-fixed-

20.01.2022 NBN(TM) announces it is dumping its plans for 100Mb/s on their fixed wireless network. Moreton Bay ISP fixed wireless will have speeds up to 300Mb/s. (We have planned for the next 10 years during which people will want faster speeds.) (Thanks for the link, Sandra.)... http://www.abc.net.au//nbn-boss-dumps-top-speed-fo/9797772

19.01.2022 Moreton Bay ISP (now Arete Community Telecom Limited) puts the SMBIs in the International spotlight. SANTA FE, N.M. Residents of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands off Australias east coast are getting improved access to high-speed Internet... IQCOMM Technologies (agreed) in July with Arete Community Telecom in Australia to provide its proprietary radio and antenna equipment to boost ... Internet coverage ... on four islands near Brisbane. The contract is worth at least $2 m...illion, and possibly up to $5 million, depending on the number of radio units and associated equipment Arete installs, said IQCOMM founder and CEO Leonard Pascual. https://www.abqjournal.com//sf-firm-helps-deliver-internet

18.01.2022 How does your poor Internet speeds impact on your life? We are looking for your quotes to include in our Crowd Equity documents. Does it impact on your kids ability to study and grades? Island health and safety? Tourism? Jobs?

17.01.2022 We are looking to do a community meeting on Saturday at 1pm on Russell Island, but Facebook events are currently broken, so we are gauging feedback via this post. If we have enough interest, the meeting will provide some great news on our $3,500,000 funding, how we help business and tourism, create direct and indirect jobs, and will make the SMBIs one of the most technically advanced communities in the world via our local headquarter / research and development plans. Please reply yes if you would be interested.

16.01.2022 Arete Community Telecom has agreed to fund Moreton Bay ISP to deliver fibre speed broadband to the SMBIs Arete will invest up to the full $3,500,000 needed for Moreton Bay ISP to deliver unprecedented Internet speeds across all four SMBI islands. Up to 20 locals will also be able to own up to 10% of the business. (Part community ownership is an ethical element of the Arete / Moreton Bay ISP business model as it keeps profits in the community.) Raising funding for this project... has been a massive task, and we thank you for your patience. Weve had a few false starts, and (through Arete) have won the enthusiastic support of Citrus Group - Pinnacle Investments - a socially responsible venture capital fund in the USA. Once Citrus Group - Pinnacle realised the positive social and economic impact our super fast broadband and other community services will have in the SMBI community, they saw the humanitarian and commercial benefit for thousands of other forgotten communities in both first world and developing countries. Citrus Group - Pinnacle has agreed to loan Arete the funding to invest in Moreton Bay ISP and, ideally, future unique community telecoms projects. Citrus Group - Pinnacle funds innovative, ecologically and socially responsible, science and technology projects - in particular carbon emissions reductions projects in Philippines and China. Citrus Group - Pinnacle is backed by many high profile investors including several Qatari investors and we are their first telecommunications foray. The USA principal of Citrus Group - Pinnacle, Dr Adlington, wants to visit the Islands in a few weeks and to personally execute our agreements locally. He will be watching closely the before and after execution of this project and feeding this back to his investment community to ideally support many more such projects around the world via Arete. So congratulations. Not only will you be a uniquely better Connected Community, you will also be the prototype for many many more around the world.

16.01.2022 This was their Internet fibre link. The good thing about our Wireless network is you don’t have to worry about our cables being pulled down or dug up.

15.01.2022 The SMBIs are in the news in the USA again. Arete - putting the SMBIs on the International map. (There are a couple of journalistic errors in the article. It happens. ) ... http://www.santafenewmexican.com//article_5d899823-a253-5d

13.01.2022 What is Net Neutrality and how does it impact you? Net Neutrality is big in the US news right now because the US federal government is seeking to implement laws on how mobile and Internet carriers prioritise your data. A good carrier, like Moreton Bay ISP, will ensure your phone calls (VoIP) get fist priority - otherwise your voice calls become choppy and of poor quality.... Video streaming Netflix, Foxtel Go, YouTube etc get second priority so you get less buffering and pauses when you stream a movie. Everything else like emails and browsing the Internet goes third. These priorities provide a better experience for you. However some carriers may slow down your access to competitors websites, because they fear you may divorce them for a better service. Some have even deliberately slowed down video streaming services like Netflix etc to get their customers to pay for a faster service. We think this type of conduct is unconscionable - but should it be regulated? Over-regulation of data prioritisation would mean choppy phone calls and a poor video streaming experience. No regulations means carriers can be sneaky. However ethical carriers like Moreton Bay ISP can promote that we dont use those sneaky practices and let the market decide. What do you think? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_neutrality

13.01.2022 Thanks, Kim Richards. State Government Grants helping Queensland businesses like Arete Community Telecom (was Moreton Bay ISP). Great for the SMBIs.

12.01.2022 Good news from The Regulator. This doesnt affect us, as we are not using the NBN. Moreton Bay ISP is the carrier, which means we will have our own direct access from your home or business right through to the Internet.... One stop for sales, support and network! This means awesome service and efficiencies for our valued customers. https://www.acma.gov.au//acma-imposes-new-rules-to-better-

12.01.2022 International Internet link coming to Sunshine Coast. This project will stimulate investment and jobs growth... Arete is looking forward to bringing faster data speeds to the SMBIs than mainlanders have (on a smaller smaller scale than the story). ... How do think this will impact the Islands? https://www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au//Submarine-cable-anno

10.01.2022 Terrific catchup with Kim Richards yesterday on Russell. Suzanne Short (SMBI Chamber of Commerce) and Travis Place alongside. Thank for your time and help and valued advice, Kim.

10.01.2022 A couple of these on the Islands would be pretty awesome.

05.01.2022 This was their Internet fibre link. The good thing about our Wireless network is you dont have to worry about our cables being pulled down or dug up.

04.01.2022 Broadband internet access is a primary contributor to economic status and development. Kids unable to study at home, businesses unable to engage and transact, and tourists unable to connect all reduce current and future economic prospects. Moreton Bay ISP cant wait to start building our network and deliver real change for the SMBI community.
