25.01.2022 An important announcement from Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism It’s with the deepest regret that we announce the cancellation of MBRIT delivered events and festivals (excluding Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run) scheduled up to and including September 2020. The rapid escalation of the COVID-19 pandemic has created an exceptional set of circumstances for many of our events and festivals. ... Unfortunately like the rest of the world, Moreton Bay Region has not been immune to the impacts the crisis is having on the events and tourism industry. Events cancelled: Hills Festival (including Hills Carnivale and festival events) Redcliffe KiteFest Redcliffe Garden & Lifestyle Expo Caboolture Festival (including festival events) Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival Event postponed: Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run We acknowledge that the cancellations are regrettable and a disappointment to many local families, businesses and suppliers, however the safety and welfare of guests is our number one priority. At this stage, we are working closely with the Moreton Bay Road Runners and other running events, in an attempt to reschedule the annual Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run to an alternative date on the running calendar. However, no date is currently set. The investment into our events calendar from local businesses, sponsors, suppliers, volunteers and staff has been tremendous, and these decisions have been made with great reluctance and the utmost seriousness. At this stage, events from October 2020 have not been cancelled, however MBRIT is closely monitoring the unfolding COVID-19 situation. On behalf of MBRIT, we thank everyone involved with our events for their support and patience in this difficult time Times may be tough, but Moreton Bay is tougher. 09.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO An important COVID-19 (Coronavirus) announcement from Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) The effects of the global pandemic, the Coronavirus (COVID-19), are being felt all over the world. Unfortunately, Moreton Bay Region is no different.... At MBRIT, our first priority is the health and wellbeing of not only our staff and volunteers, but of our entire tourism industry and community, who undoubtedly, are and will be hit hard by this crisis. Our team has been closely monitoring the situation and following the advice of Queensland Health. Accordingly, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming Redcliffe Festival of Sails celebrations at Suttons Beach, on Good Friday. We, just like you, are extremely disappointed and saddened by the decision to cancel this much-loved community celebration. MBRIT is continuing to receive updates and assess its other upcoming events. Additionally, Moreton Bay Regions eight accredited Visitor Information Centres managed by MBRIT will be closed until further notice. MBRIT acknowledges many sectors of our economy are being impacted by this pandemic including Moreton Bays $1 billion dollar tourism economy, which supports more than 5,000 jobs in over 3,000 businesses, many who are small owner-operators who are feeling the impacts of this crisis, not just on a business but also a personal and emotional level. To help support local business operators and employees feeling this stress, MBRIT will be extending our organisations Employee Assistance Program to eligible local businesses operating within our tourism industry. This service will provide confidential short-term counselling, at no cost to employers and employees of eligible businesses and can be accessed for both professional and personal issues, including financial counselling. 03.01.2022 We recently sat down with Karen Phillips from our Samford Visitor Information Centre to chat to her about what she loves about volunteering in the centre. Karen has lived in Cashmere for about 30 years, Cashmere is only approximately 10 minutes from Samford and has been a volunteer now for 5 months. She loves the village feel of the community and enjoys visiting the huge range of lovely cafes in the area. Karen even recommends Little Tree Bake & Brew House for breakfast, Ca...fe Legarto Samford for lunch and says it is hard to choose between the pizza and pasta selection at Amici Ristorante for dinner. Karen was looking for an opportunity to volunteer and discovered the opportunity going at the Samford Visitor Information Centre, what she loves about volunteering here is meeting all the variety of visitors that come in. Make sure you pop in next time you're in Samford.
