25.01.2022 There may still be smoke in the air but most of Moreton Island is open and it did not burn to the ground. It is still as beautiful as ever. And those charred areas will thrive as soon as we get some rain!!!

23.01.2022 We are looking for a cook/all rounder for our school and recreation group camp business based on Moreton Island. We cater for groups sizes from 10 people up. We are seeking a camp cook/all rounder with previous experience in food preparation, cooking for groups, food hygiene and knowledge of allergies/special dietary requirement. You will be required to prepare simple and healthy food in large amounts for a set meal time, breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is served buffet s...tyle. You will be responsible for maintaining and cleaning the kitchen, food storage area and keeping dining area in a clean, tidy and hygienic state, setting up/cleaning dining area prior to groups arrival, washing dishes, stock rotation, loading and unloading food orders, helping modify menus, picking up food orders, welcoming and directing new camp arrivals and other general domestic and maintenance jobs as required. You may also required to assist with cleaning of camp accommodation, ablutions block and campground area, vehicle maintenance checks and refueling. Must be willing to help out in other areas where required. Moreton Island is only accessible by boat or ferry, so must be prepared to be away from home between 3-5 days whilst working or preferrably to move to the island. We can help provide accommodation. A current Working with Children Check or willingness to get one is essential. Must hold a current drivers license. Ability to get a Drivers Authorisation also preferred. This is a casual position as our workload fluctuates, Contract position with ABN holder preferred, so you can work your own hours. We may provide additional duties during period of no camp occupancy if you want the work. Please send a bit of info about yourself and why you think this lifestyle is for you.

19.01.2022 This is what we have been told as commercial operators, So currently we are planning to offer Fully Catered Group Camps (with restricted numbers) starting in mid July and Self Catered Camping from when we are allowed which is currrently 12th June 2020. So if your family or families would like to book our fully set up campsite for a quick little holiday please email us to find out our availability. "Queensland national parks, forests and recreation areas that were closed due ...to COVID-19 are reopening in line with the Queensland Government’s roadmap to easing restrictions and the Chief Health Officer approved Industry COVID Safe Plan QPWS Campgrounds. Camping and vehicle access bookings can be made at https://qld.gov.au/camping for one month in advance of any planned visits. K’gari (Fraser Island) Recreation Area is open for camping and vehicle access. Bookings for Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) and Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) are open for day use and camping will reopen from 11:59pm on 12 June 2020. Bribie Island and Cooloola recreation areas are open for day use and camping but have been declared Restricted Access Areas under the Recreation Areas Management Act for community safety. These additional Restricted Access Area provisions apply to all Vehicle Access Permit holders and campers entering the area to manage acceptable numbers. Exemptions to the restricted access area arrangements apply to holders of current commercial activity permits, commercial activity agreements, and other eligible exempted persons or entities. Of course, before planning an activity please check the full and current list of closures on Park Alerts at https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/park-alerts/ Please follow all roadside and on-site regulatory signage and observe all notices, social distancing measures, maximum allowable numbers and all other health directions. Showers will not be open so please travel self-sufficiently with soap/ sanitiser and personal towels for optimum hygiene. Any authorised activity or research that is planned to occur within QPWS managed areas must be able to be undertaken in line with current Queensland Chief Health Officer Directions and Commonwealth Health Directions, including in Designated Indigenous Areas. 15.01.2022 Thankyou so much to all the fire fighters, volunteers and the community who all came together to save our townships and our camp business! You all did an amazing job and we can not thank you enough! Although the threat to our townships is over, the island is still on fire and the crews are still working hard to monitor and contain the fire.

06.01.2022 We are looking for an enthusiastic camp helper/ tour guide to help in our family run school and recreation group camp business on Moreton Island We offer school camps and group camps of all sorts which we accommodate , cater for and offer day tours for. You will be 4wding groups around the island, taking them swimming and sand tobogganing and helping out at our camp which requires moving tents and repairing frames, cleaning, cooking and preparing food, sweeping out tents ...and dishes, Interacting with customers, so must be energetic , healthy, fun, friendly and have good communication skill. You must hold a drivers licence Preference will be given to those that have an MR truck licence or are willing to get one. Must be able to get a Drivers Authorisation and a working with children blue card. Some 4x4 experience in sand preferred but we can teach you. Some mechanical and handyman skills Ability to do some heavy lifting Cooking Skills Work schedule can be flexible if need be. If you are a handy person or have mechanical knowledge we can provide lots of work to you as there are always other jobs to do. This is a casual position as our workload fluctuates, contract positions may also be available Moreton Island is a complete sand island 35km off Brisbane only accessible via boat or a 1.5hr ferry ride from Brisbane, with minimal amenities, beautiful beaches and water and great fishing and snorkeling. So you need to live on the island as ferries don’t coincide with work hours required, or be willing to stay on the island days at a time.
