25.01.2022 #RemoveBlindfolds Project #Homelessness denies people a safe and private space. It shifts people’s identity from being part of their community, to being pushed ...to the margins of that community." Jenny Smith from Council to Homeless Persons last week at #Parliamentary #homelessnessinquiry. Solutions exist, but we need to change our perception and work towards in the right direction. We need to think less about helping a homeless person and more about helping a person who happens to be homeless. Because most certainly at one point ‘they’ were just like ‘you and me’. Lockdown is here again but we are still taking donations for couple of #outreachorganisations who requires our support. 300 Blankets Star Health I have attached the list of items you can donate for the #collectiondrives we are running at this stage. Contact me at 0420 599 460 for more details and drops/pick ups arrangement. Thank you and stay safe. #COVID19

24.01.2022 #RemoveBlindfolds - About 2000 homeless people who have been put up in hotels across Victoria during the coronavirus outbreak face the prospect of having to ret...urn to the streets later this month without a state government lifeline. Melbourne man Paul Barr has been calling a CBD motel room home for eight weeks, having been couch surfing and sleeping in parks for the past six months. Challenges aside, Mr Barr is grateful for a roof over his head and he is deeply worried about what will happen to him and thousands of other homeless people when the funding runs out. Outreach organisations like 300 Blankets are working on the ground to provide the necessary support to our vulnerable people in the community. And I am aiming at providing additional support by initiating #toiletriesdrive for the specific items they need at their end. Please do come forward if you have any capacity to donate any of the following items. You can text me on 0420 599 460 for more information. 18.01.2022 Great Saturday evening with fellow comrades Dilpreet Kaur Taggar and Simran. 18.01.2022 #Removeblindfolds Project - My car is loaded. Thank you everyone for contributing towards our #collectiondrives. The recently collected toiletries, non perishab...le food and blankets will be given to Star Health, St Kilda this week. Thank you Manny Deora for being extremely generous and providing us with boxes of shampoos, Body wash, Body cream and most importantly SANITIZER bottles. A very special THANK YOU to Emily Millward and Narelle Sheahanfrom #StKildaandElwood #localcommunity for joining in the effort and coordinating/giving away some home made colourful #masks for Alister Fullers #BurgerNights. I would be handing him over the masks in couple of weeks time once we figure out how to continue in the current restricted environment. Thanks once again for the community effort and being kind. Stay safe. #homelessnessweek #homelesslivesmatter

17.01.2022 The challenges that the #homeless face arent dissimilar to those in developing countries. - #LeilaJanah We had picked up #homelessness cause as Mor Events #socialproject last year and have continued our efforts to contribute in this space. I along with my events team have started working towards our second event this August and would like to invite you to #collaborate with us if this issue matters to you. ... Rough sleepers(living on the streets) only makes up around 7% of homelessness while the remainder is #hiddenhomelessness where you will find people sleeping in cars, rooming houses, couch surfing or staying in temporary accommodations. With an objective to #removeblindfolds, I am trying to make an honest effort to raise more #awareness among the mainstream community via social media and events about the #issueofhomelessness and need for #socialhousing. Another objective is to work towards creating a bridge between the community and other bodies working towards the cause of eradication of homelessness. Hoping to collaborate with individuals and organisations over the forthcoming months to make the ground difference around us. Thank you Read DV Vic + Council To Homeless Persons Vic letter to Daniel Andrews https://chp.org.au//four-years-on-from-royal-commission-m/ #homelessyouth #homelesslivesmatter #homelessnessandblindfoldedus

17.01.2022 The problem of #homelessness is complex and multi layered. We are talking about those vulnerable people who when get emotionally and mentally unstable start los...ing the opportunities to get their lives back on track which in turn stamps the stigma around them as drug addicts and assaulters. And that is disappointing. However, just like every thing else we cant generalise them because not every person who is homeless want to become an offender. They do want to have a home, get their life back and feel safe. #RemoveBlindfolds team is working for those souls. If there is slightest of the hope we can make a difference to that one life, we want to do it. Thank you to all these lovely neighbours from #AlbertPark/#StKilda/#Elwood area who are able to contribute towards our #BlanketsandSocksDrive2020. We are extremely grateful. You have made me and my team super proud for the decision we had taken to invite you all for our Diwali celebrations on 25 October in Melbourne. Mor Events team and our lovely guests cannot thank you enough for... the electrifying evening you had created for us. I was particularly impressed to see your sincerity for the art and the fact that you had hired a studio an evening before to practice for 6 hours. Thank you for staying intact with us through the ups and downs of the event preparations. Each one present at the event was super impressed with your talent. You all played so gracefully and energetically but the last 20 minutes of your performance were such a blast that you made me dance from Bharatnatyam to Metallic. Stay humble as you all are and keep growing multi folds over the coming years. On that note, Melbourne sends you lots of good luck for your future ahead and hope to see you live once again in the near future. 09.01.2022 #Homeless people are not the problem, they are the result of the problem. Thank you Manny Deora for your generous contribution of 80 bottles of #handsanitizer ...for our vulnerable people. Not to forget you bought those bottles separately and did all the hard work of putting the sanitizers in those bottles. A very big thank you. #Blanketdrive - Those who have been following our work know that we did a huge blanket collection last year having collected 250+ items which were donated across three organisations. Winters are around the corner so our blankets drive collection is starting now along with the continuous collection of non perishable food and essential items. Any one who is interested in donating the following items can contact me at 0420 599 460. 09.01.2022 We have hit the mark - we are going strong, as we have been able to create 100 #carepacks since 5th of April for Star Health, #StKilda. Our next note of Thank you goes to Varun Garg and Gazal, HealthySmiles, Manny Deora from Cleaning and Consumable Supplies Melbourne, Deepa Ramesh, Saleha, Leeroy Kerr and couple of more who dont wish to share their names for their generosity. #Homelesspeople are not the problem but the result of the problem. Lot of organisations and individuals across Australia are working towards long term solution. In the meantime, our objective has been to bridge the gap between the mainstream community and the organisations working in the space and also to remove blindfold of perceptions we carry about people with vulnerable circumstances . The entire effort wasnt possible without community support and hence we are extremely grateful to people who have been able to come forwards to donate in their capacity. All we needed was to give a shout!! Thank you to my team for the big effort - Jasmine Kaur, Deepti Varghese, Simran Sandhu. #homelessnessandblindfoldedus #homelesslivesmatter #removeblindfolds #givebacktothecommunity #makeadifference #communitysupport #communityimpact
