25.01.2022 ‘In the hope of not sounding like a cliche, I can honestly say that deciding to embark on the nutrition journey with Morro has definitely been the best decision I have made. Prior to starting I would often find myself reading her Insta/FB posts and watching her Instagram stories, thinking how much I would like to do it and how the client feedback seemed to speak for itself. But then it was easy to find the excuses maybe I will contact Morro next month? Is this the right ti...me as I am busy with work? Blah, blahall excuses that saw me staying safely in my comfort zone! As a mum of two young children, and as many other mums might agree, we can very easily put their needs and the needs of our family first, leaving our own wellbeing as an afterthought. Joining Morro with her nutrition coaching has provided me with the opportunity to not only put my own health and wellbeing as a priority but it also means they get a healthier and more energetic mum. It has been an investment that the whole family has benefited from and it has provided me with the tools and knowledge to support my children as they grow up. My hope for my daughter is that she grows up with a healthy outlook on nutrition and fitness and sees this modelled for her in her early years. Yes, there are moments when you will feel challenged, a little confronted and pushed out of your comfort zone. But alongside those moments come the wins! The gradual shift in energy, the absolute delight when you realise your waist is a cm less than the previous week, the first time you go clothes shopping and realise you need to drop a size and when a colleague stops you and comments on how great you look. I couldn’t have asked for a more dedicated and trustworthy coach and I am extremely grateful for the positive outlook that I have been given as a result of Morro’s work. So if you find yourself hovering over the ‘More with Kristy’ Insta/FB posts wondering ‘should I?’ All I can say is taking that next step and sending a message was something I will never regret.’ Gemma Ready to get started? Or have questions? Message me, I’d love to help

25.01.2022 Do you have a goal you are working towards? Something measurable, maybe you want to lose a certain number of kgs, or fit into size ‘x’ jeans? There is nothing wrong with having these goals, and I do encourage my clients to have physical and measurable goals, however we can hit a problem if that is ALL that you are focusing on. ... We know that sometimes these kinds of results, the physical and measurable kind, can be VERY unpredictable. And it doesn’t matter how perfect your day or week is, you’ll never have full control over how quickly (or slowly) your body will actually change. One reason many people quit their weight loss plan is because their expectations are not realistic. Their results might not measure up to the the effort they feel they are putting in, so they feel discouraged, lose motivation and quit. If you do want to lose weight, or get leaner, or have a health related goal, you need to focus less on how quickly you are seeing results and focus more on what is actually in your control. When you switch your focus, you will have a far more enjoyable journey!! If this is something you might need help with, send me a message and we can start the conversation!

24.01.2022 Stop saying you are having ‘cheat meals’. Or cheat days Or being naughty. ... Many of us have been brought up thinking that food is good or bad. One or the other. But food is food. Pizza isn’t more evil than oats. Pay attention even for 24 hours and notice how often you see this used in marketing, from your friends, from work colleagues, and in your own head. The sooner you can begin to accept that you can eat anything, in moderation*, the sooner you can lose that sense of rigidity and restriction. Because we all know as soon as we ‘can’t’ have something, we want to get our hands on it NOW!! And lots of it. Then when we are finished with it, because we thought it was ‘bad’ we associate guilt and shame with our actions. Being mindful of the language you use around food is an important step in creating a healthy relationship with it. *yes moderation is important. You have to be real. If you think you might need help working on this, get in touch xx

24.01.2022 What was in my trolley/online cart this week??! You can see my -protein sources -the main carb sources... -fruit/veg -the other bits and pieces! I write out my list in headings before I shop to really make it easy, and I use: *meat/deli *fruit/veg *cold *pantry *other I love getting this done on a Sunday, I got on the computer this morning at around 9am today and picked this up at 4pm. This meant I could do 47 loads of washing instead of spending time walking the aisles Edit: one photo is cut off at the top...they are mini bottles of Coke no sugar

23.01.2022 Did you have a few too many drinks last night? What you SHOULDN’T do now: starve yourself today as punishment. go all out today as you have stuffed it all up anyway.say you will start again on Monday. Start right now.talk negatively to yourself. You are human. Be kind.exercise like a maniac to try and ‘work it off’.say you will ‘never do it again’. What you SHOULD do now: drink some water.get some fruit, veg and protein in.move...go for a walk, just get going.listen to a podcast/read a good book.make your next choice a better one.continue with your life!!.Trying to be perfect is bull^%t. Have a lovely Sunday .

23.01.2022 When is the right time to hire a nutrition coach? when you feel overwhelmed with where to start to change your body when you know what to do, but you need someone to hold you accountable when you have training goals and want your nutrition to support that when you are just sick of the yo-yo diet lifestyle, never feeling like you actually achieve your goal Any of these sound familiar? Send me a message, and I’ll see how I can help!

14.01.2022 online supermarket order picked up washing folded (until the next load..this NEVER ends, am I right??) brekky oat slice made for the week aheadDone, done, and done I lOVE a list, and there’s no better feeling than crossing off the last job from your to-do list!! Keeping your daily goals visible increases the chance of you getting them done by about a bazillion %. What was your last job on your to-do list?

09.01.2022 Lazy Sunday! After a yum birthday brekky for Drew, I’ve had a jam-packed day of nothing - just the way I like it. Rested and ready for the new week full of coaching, nutrition consults, online checkins and client wins! Happy Sunday!

06.01.2022 WELCOME TO MORE. MOVEMENT + MACROS + MINDSET . These are the big 3! My job is to help you get them all working together, so that you can get the results you are looking for. .... Macros + The 3 macros, or macronutrients, are all important when it comes to losing weight and building lean muscle. Essentially, macros are what calories are made of. The 3 are carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Each one has a particular role in your body, and this is why I don’t just set a daily calorie limit and send you on your way! We need to look past calories alone, so that we don't miss out on some of the awesome benefits for our overall health, wellness and performance. By eating the RIGHT kind of calories (not good and bad) in accordance with your individual goals, we can give you the best chance to make long lasting change. . Movement+ No secret that I am a big believer in the many benefits of exercisebut even I need a push to get it done some days! Ok almost always LOL. You might be sitting there thinking that you know you need to do something but you are looking for a helping hand to get started. Maybe this is the last piece of the puzzle that you need some help with. I have lots of options, from setting you at home workouts to do in your own time, video Personal Training sessions, or face to face workouts for those lucky enough to live in Benalla. . Mindset+ You might be the most accurate food tracker, or train with intensity and frequency, but if you struggle as soon as life throws something unexpected at you, then any changes you have made will be hard to stick with, and not sustainable. Working on mindset is usually the biggest game changer for my clients. We can work together on how to accept mistakes, to forget about chasing perfection, and to embrace the learning phase without quitting. Discover how to have self compassion when you are struggling. . If you would like to know MORE about how I can help, please get in touch! See more

05.01.2022 Online food shopping...have you tried it? I was talking with some friends about it on the weekend, trying to convince them it can be such a lifesaver. The first few times might take a while as you navigate the online store, and you may make the mistake like buying 1 apple instead of 1kg like I did.... After you do a few shops and start to have a ‘things I’ve bought before’ list, it is super simple and fast. Shopping online can also avoid those spur of the moment buys, and help you stick to a meal plan. There is also the smug feeling of doing your shopping in your pjs and knowing you just have to pull up and the groceries will be loaded into your car, or you can go next level and have them delivered Write your list as normal, then sit down and give it a try!

03.01.2022 Ahh the weekendoften a time we enjoy eating out, or at least a takeaway mealrelevant if you are in lockdown right now! I want to share a few ways to still enjoy eating out while you are trying to lose weight: Skip the entree or bread. ... These alone could be a good 500-1200 calories before your meal has even arrived at the table. Eat only half your meal. Did you know that you actually don’t HAVE to finish everything on your plate?! Jokes, if you paid for it what a waste. Jokes again. Come on!! Seriously, portions these day are massively bigger than they used to be. Don’t feel like you have to eat everything that is served up. You can also ask to take the leftovers home. Order veggies as a side rather than other high calorie options. An easy way to save some calories and ‘glow up’ your meal is to just have a side of veggies instead of ordering a bowl of chips or cauliflower cheese. Order some water and a diet soft drink. This is easy, swap out a super high calorie soft drink (or even alcohol.GASP!!) for a zero calorie option. This change alone could save you 500+ calories!! Making some small changes like this can mean you are still able to get out and be social, and still keep your goals in focus!!

01.01.2022 Repetitive eating... If you have followed me for more than a few days, you will know I tend to eat the same breakfasts and lunches most days. I mix up the toppings, or the way I cook my oats, but each morning when I walk into the kitchen, there is no hesitation, I know what I am having. ... Why? Eating the same thing each day, repetitively, can be a really useful tool when you are trying to lose weight. We all know that making decisions is hard work, and decision fatigue is a real thing. If we can eliminate the need to make a couple of those choices, in particular when we are hungry, stressed or tired (or all 3!), then we can decrease the chance of decision fatigue tripping us up! If you find eating well, or staying on track is hard, start eating the same thing each morning. You can also use this strategy with dinner, or snacks. You could chose the same snacks for the week, and then rotate onto a new set next week. Is it boring? Maybe, depends on what is important to you. I think it is worth trying, at least in the early days while you are trying to lose weight. Success in many things is made easier with repetitionso run with it! It is one less thing to think about.
