22.01.2022 So often our social accounts are just a highlights real of our biggest wins or best angles. I've had an amazingly successful couple of weeks b being recognised across multiple organisations and categories. It's been awesome. But this is a real representation of what entrepreneurship is really like. Giving up your weekends, doing work that no one ever sees and doing a lot of things that no one will ever thank you for. Lucky I love what I do and that I get to hang out with my dog all day every day! Come see both my dog and I at @barksatbarkly #indigenousentrepreneur #indigenous #entrepreneur #love #happy #fun #style #amazing #life #healthy #work #design #journey #dreams #goals #boss

16.01.2022 Team photo. Swipe left to see the winning team!... Id like to say that I behaved as a respectable, mature CEO but that would be a blatant lie. Winners are grinners. Last photo is me ensuring that only the winning team was part of the winners photo. But seriously, Im so grateful to have such an amazing, dedicated team at Vets on Call. We wouldnt be the fastest growing vet company in the country without everyone in this photo. Im so happy to share this journey with each of them.... still felt bloody good to beat them #winnersaregrinners #bestteamever #staffparty #indigenousentrepreneur #indigenous #entrepreneur #fun #amazing #cool #healthy #work #passionate #journey #dreams #goals

15.01.2022 Long days should never feel like a burden when you’re on purpose. It’s been a huge start to the year with @vetsoncall breaking company records almost weekly. If you’re finding that the challenges feel bigger than the potential reward something needs to change. That doesn’t mean you don’t get tired, disappointed or frustrated. It just means you have something bigger pulling you through. After a 14 hour long shoot trying to manage babies and a menagerie of pets I needed this cuddle. Thanks to @seemvp and all the beautiful actors for being a part of such a successful day. #dogsofinstagram #groodlesofinstagram #iloveanimals #startup #vets #vetsoncall #vetcare #entrepreneur #indigenousentrepreneur #indigenousexcellence #photoshoot #video #videokilledtheradiostar

06.01.2022 Attention all educators! There is a great initiative providing educational material for young aspiring entrepreneurs. Koorie entrepreneurs have profiled 8 indigenous businesses and put it together as a free resource for teachers. I felt honoured to be a part of this. Part of what gets me up every day is the hope that one day our success at Vets on Call will inspire others to empower themselves through business to create a better life for themselves and their families.
06.01.2022 Progress shot of my second development coming together. Cant wait to show you all what they look like complete. #property #indigenousentrepreneur #morgancoleman #entrepreneur #bendigo

05.01.2022 So excited to be featured in today's Age newspaper. Milky did a great job modelling in what was a typical rainy Melbourne day. 05.01.2022 Truly humbled and incredibly proud of what my team and I at @vetsoncall have been able to achieve so far. As the article states I left my job because I felt like I wasnt empowered to create the life I wanted for myself, my family and my community. I took a massive risk in quitting my job, selling everything I owned and starting my business but it is moments like these that fill my heart with joy. 9 months in and were not just the fastest growing vet company in the country ...but were getting noticed the world over and now I have my face under a @nytimes heading!!! This makes the tough times all the worthwhile. Truly humbled and incredibly proud of what my team and I at @vetsoncall have been able to achieve so far. 05.01.2022 So proud and humbled to have made it into the @insidesmallbus Australias top 50 small business leaders for 2019. One year in and I cant believe what weve been able to accomplish as a business and the exciting things that are happening after so much hard work. I truly hope that this is just the beginning for Indigenous Australians and our successes in business. I want to see more in the list for 2020!!! Was really excited to hear @justindry from @vinomofo speak but the flu got the better of him. Hope you feel better mate! Looking forward to sharing the stage with you one day . #indigenousentrepreneur #indigenous #entrepreneur #proud #happy #amazing #work #passionate #journey #dreams #goals #boss

04.01.2022 Absolutely loved sharing my journey and the process I went through when developing Vets on Call. If you’re a starting a business I suggest starting with the absolute core value your business provides. Simplify it as much as possible, then test and test again. I tested every tiny incremental development I made within the market as I developed Vets on Call, it’s the reason we have such a well developed and robust product. It’s the reason we have the traction we do now because we made sure the market led every change we made.
04.01.2022 This is a great start to supporting Indigenous people to empower themselves economically and create better lives for themselves and their communities. Theres a long way to go but were getting there!
04.01.2022 One year ago today Vets on Call was on National Nine News!!!
04.01.2022 Felt compelled to share this. It was sent to me from a friend after Id felt let down by some others I thought close to me. By far the hardest thing about being an entrepreneur is the sacrifice you have to make around your relationships. Success at times can be hugely isolating and I had to learn how to reframe that to view it as liberating to shed the relationships of those that arent truly in your corner and that dont want the best for you. The limitations and resentment others place on you is never a reflection of you but a projection of how they feel about themselves. #indigenousentrepreneur #indigenoussuccess #startup #entrepreneur #propertydeveloper
04.01.2022 I had a dream and it is fast becoming a reality. I'm so excited to share my new venture with the world. You can read all about it and the story behind it in Monday's The Age newspaper. There's also a cute photo of my beautiful dog too!
03.01.2022 This was certainly a highlight of my business journey so far, being interviewed by @mark_bouris for the @mentored_au podcast @podcastoneau. It’s not the reality of every day startup life. The reality isn’t nearly as Insta worthy. The reality is day in and day out grinding and being as scrappy as possible to get even the smallest win. Have a listen to our story on the episode. Link in my bio.
02.01.2022 Ahhh progress! Works have commenced on property #1. Cant wait to see these babies go up!
02.01.2022 One of the most fulfilling things about the success of Vets on Call is that it has allowed me the opportunity for my voice to be heard. I recently wrote an article on the challenges that Indigenous entrepreneurs face around raising funds for their start-ups. The link to the full article is in my bio. But for those that want the summarised version it boils down to the following issues. 1. Lack of wealth network. Raising money requires one of two things. A wealthy network or a...ccess to a wealthy network. Given historically Indigenous people have been excluded from actively participating in the economy for most of us these networks simply don’t exist to us. 2. Lack of collateral. Traditional financial institutions rely on the borrower having collateral to secure the loan. Indigenous home ownership is half that of non-indigenous people and therefore we’ve very little collateral to draw on. 3. Pigeon holing. As an Indigenous entrepreneur quite often finders have a preconceived idea that your business must be a micro or community focused business incapable of scaling quickly and becoming a large organisation. So you’re discounted for these unfounded limitations. As with any challenge in business nothing is insurmountable. Vets on Call is one of many many people examples of Indigenous owned organisations creating significant value for the market and wealth for investors. If you’re facing similar issues with cap raising feel free to reach out for some advice.
02.01.2022 DON’T BE SHORT SIGHTED! The best advice I ever got was learn through your twenties, earn through your thirties. I see so many people today that are willing to take a dollar today at the expense of being able to earn 10-20x that in 5-10 years time. A position that is going to teach you more skills and knowledge that will enable you to earn far more in 5-10 years time is always worth a reduction in salary when you’re young. We’ve all heard the saying invest in yourself bu...t so few of us see a reduced salary in a role that is going to provide more opportunity and enable you to command more money in the years to come as an investment in ourselves. I’ve seen people turn down the opportunity to earn literally tens of thousands of dollars in shares in the next 12 month period for the sake of an extra $3k in base salary. This blows my fucking mind! Think beyond tomorrow, think beyond the next 12 months and make decisions based on what is going to help you get to your desired destination.
02.01.2022 So excited for the awards next week! Thank you to @ey_global for the selection to the finals and a big Congratulations to the other finalists @dotti_23 and James Curran!
