23.01.2022 16 bars, 4 chefs and the best of Melbourne hospitality came together on Monday 13 January to raise funds for the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief & Recovery... Fund, with the final total reaching $51,322. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a reality, and everyone who donated in aid of bushfire relief! Photos by James Morgan Photography.

23.01.2022 I received a little good news the other day. I am shortlisted in two categories for the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year! This is the first one, originally shot to promote the Alquimie popup bar at @capsofindustry. Years ago, well before @tipo_00 and @osteriailaria, @andreas_papadakis created an incredible menu of small dishes to be paired with an equally amazing selection of drinks. The video captures the pairings, his process, and the beautiful colours and textures o...f his food. I never visited @vuedemonde when he was there, but it was a privilege to experience his food during the shoot. Such a contrast to the lovely dishes served at Tipo and Ilaria. So one night Andreas, @amylobb, @nickmanuell, and I took over Captains. The lighting was fun with a couple of arris inside and some Dedolights out the window on the awning. I kept camera movements to a minimum, choosing instead to move the food and drinks within the frame. The liquid nitrogen was a blast to shoot, but the planned grand finale made more of a thud than a crisp shattering sound. I found an easy fix by recoding the sound of a smashing coffee cup. I submitted this work long before COVID-19 had decimated the hospitality. It feels fitting to enter something from the archives as it's hard not to get nostalgic about how things were. I consider myself lucky to see the hospitality industry behind the scenes. I'm in awe of the countless hours invested that result in Australia's rich food and drink culture. While it's nice to be shortlisted for an award, let's not forget that all I do is put a lens in front of the real hard work!

23.01.2022 Acobia Apocalypse Spritz It’s the end of the world and my apocalyptic ritual involves smashing a few spritzes for breakfast, dressing up as a gondolier and singing opera on my roof while taking pot-shots at zombies. What’s yours? #CocktailRecipe... 60ml Acobia 90ml Prosecco Dash of Soda Water Slice of Blood Orange Ice to finish #BehindTheScenes I love working with others but sadly. due to our current restrictions, I had to shoot this solo. In the end, I learnt a lot. Rather than depending on a stylist for props and food (drinks), I had to beg, borrow or build everything myself. Working alone gave me complete control, but I won’t lie, I did miss everything that comes with a set full of clients, creative directors, stylists, and assistants. #cocktails #Cocktailculture #cocktailrecipes #craftcocktails #craftedmixology #cocktailgarnish #cocktailphotographer #myfavouritecocktail #artdirection #advertisingphotography #advertsingphotographer #commercialphotography #beveragephotographer #drinkphotographer #liquidphotography #beautifulbottles #liqpic #notabartender #imbibegram #drinkstyling #productphotographer #productphotography #stilllifephotography #colorinspiration See more

22.01.2022 I originally shot this for @mac_forbes_wines a few years ago of his EB (experimental batch wines). I always wanted to change the timber background so tonight I did a little experimenting myself. The first shot is the new version, let me know what you think. Also, have you tried any of Mac's EB wines? @ James Morgan Photography

19.01.2022 Over the last two days, I've had the pleasure of photographing the 2020 @younggunofwine winemaker judging. It was a delight to cover these amazing people from all pockets of the industry. Not only have I met some amazing people but it's been a blast to shoot, from the beautiful accommodation at @the_fantauzzo to the dinners and lunches at @laluparestaurant, @ciaopapi_ , @stanley_restaurant and @felonsbrewingco.

13.01.2022 Acobia Americano This one is for all the photographers, retouchers, stylists, assistants, HMUA and anyone else that signed the petition regarding the impact of the current COVID restrictions on our industry (link in profile). Cheers to @laurenbamford, @kristofferpaulsen, @seanfennessy and @corywhitephoto for making some noise. We are all craving a little clarification and common sense. Here’s hoping tomorrow's announcement will bring some good news, but until then, drink up.... #Cocktailrecipe Acobia Americano 30ml Acobia 30ml Vermouth Rosso Dash of Soda Water Slice of Blood Orange Ice #BehindTheScenes This beautiful timber surface is by@listonegiordano thanks @winspeargroup. The wall is a piece of MDF painted with @duluxaus Wash&Wear Low Sheen. I don't know the colour but it's close to the lid on the Vintage Charcoal chalky finish spray can. The most satisfying part of the set was the imitation wall inlay. I picked up some 15mm mouldings from Bunnings and wanted an efficient way to cut them and mont them. After a few failed attempts with a hacksaw, Dremel and craft knife, I found the best way to cut them is with a good pair of garden secateurs. The edges are not amazing but it's much quicker to fix in post than to make the perfect cut as I'm not a carpenter. Paint and attach them to the wall with blu tac and don’t forget to use a spirit level! #advertisingphotography #advertisingphotographer #commercialphotography #productphotographer #productphotography #stilllifephotography #foodphotographer #foodstyling #beveragephotographer #drinkphotographer #liquidphotography #beautifulbottles #liqpic #notabartender #imbibegram #drinkstyling #cocktails #Cocktailculture #cocktailrecipes #craftcocktails #craftedmixology #cocktailgarnish #cocktailphotographer #myfavouritecocktail #darktablemood #moodyfood #moodyfoodphotography See more
