22.01.2022 Wow! If you drive past the school this long weekend, make sure to look out for the new vinyl signage that has been installed at the main entrance to the school. The special signage, which celebrates our school's place and role as part of the Morisset community, has also been installed at the entrance to our school hall, and it looks fabulous!... The design of the new signage is part of the ongoing beautification of the school and has been created in consultation with the Itji-Marru Laecg, to share a special story of connection and purpose, which we'll share more with you soon. The installation of the new blinds, more furniture, and shelving is continuing in our library (with thanks to our students who are lending a hand, and learning skills along the way). The full revamped library will be officially opened as part of our school's NAIDOC Week commemorations next term. Stay posted for more updates as we continue to work to beautify our school.

The Morisset High School P&C have funded our students to create some bright and colourful murals to decorate our canteen, which has been renamed by our 2020 Student Representative Council as Motown Meals. Thanks to the amazing Ms Pickering and Ms Butler from our art department who has helped the students to create the murals. We look forward to seeing them installed in the canteen area next year!... The Mural Club has been busy working on the murals during sport and some of their breaks, and should also be commended on their commitment to beautifying and improving their school. Well done!

06.01.2022 I was so very proud of Ms Pratt and the group of 13 students who attended the excursion to Newcastle Port Authority and businesses focused on import and distribution on Thursday. Staff at every venue including Beresfield Bowling Club where they had lunch, complimented the group on their excellent behaviour and manners. Our thanks to Ms Kerr for providing us with the opportunity. Our students learned about the myriad of careers available in sourcing, importing, transporting ...and delivering goods all around the world. Computer specialists, water pilots and captains, stevedores, accountants, legal representatives, customs specialists and sales. There were even more career options our students exposed to during the excursion. Principal, Cheri McDonald.

01.01.2022 It was great to have Big Picture Education Australia co-founder Viv White at the school last week to continue her mentorship of our MHS Big Picture Academy students and their advisers. Viv spent time working with the group of Year 12 Big Picture students who plan to present their final project to academics and researchers at the University of Newcastle and the University of Western Sydney, to hopefully gain entry to undergraduate programmes in 2021. Our 2020 School Captain,... Aiden Brown, is hoping to commence a degree in Software Engineering at the University of Newcastle and Joshua Yee hopes to be enrolled in the Bachelor of Health Science (Sports and Exercise) at Western Sydney University. They will join the three students from the same year group, Abbey Bennett Jamie-Lee Parsons and Lochie Westfall who have already commenced their degrees at the University of Newcastle, this year. This is the first group of Year 12s to graduate from the MHS Big Picture Academy, with all of the graduates have a plan in place for further study, or employment, once they complete their studies, and present their final projects next week (Week 6). We wish our Big Picture students all the best for their futures and know they will apply the valuable learning, research and employment skills they have learned as part of the MHS Big Picture Academy to find their success, and be lifelong learners.
