25.01.2022 Think about activating your muscles being used as a series of lights. A body free from chronic pain, and in good working order - will switch on and off based on what the body needs at the time. However, from poor, repetitive habits - many people enter chronic pain from losing touch with the activation system that lives in their body.... Their lights dim, and flicker - and often not in synchronicity with each other. 11.01.2022 Unfortunately, when I talk about chronic pain, many people discount their niggling injuries because they've become accustomed to the pain. Even if you are sitting on a pain level of 2-3 but it is relatively constant, we would consider this to be chronic pain. This doesn't have to be normalised, and you deserve to live in a body that is working with you, not against you.... If you're experiencing pain, where do you sit on the scale?
08.01.2022 Remember what it was like to be a kid? Back when you were in school, you could move in all kinds of ways, effortlessly. Running, jumping, climbing, crawling you could do it all - without pain or restriction.... So what happened? You grew up. You stopped moving as much. You let niggles and pains become the norm. You got a job where you sit at a desk all day, and when you’re not sitting there, you’re in your car, or on the couch. And a sedentary lifestyle, or, at least, one that doesn’t find you using ranges of motion like you used to, compounds over the years. The longer we normalise the pain, the more it becomes part of our life, and restricts us from doing the things we love. That's why we take the time to assess the body, and treat the source - not the symptom alone. 02.01.2022 If you work in a trade, we need to talk It pains me to hear that so much of our workforce is grinning and bearing it when it comes to pain management. It's often seen as a part of the Australian spirit, to shrug it off and say 'she'll be right mate', pop a couple of Panadol and continue to the cycle until retirement.... Unfortunately the damage this creates is long lasting... But it doesn't need to be this way - I don't believe managing pain in this way should be normalised at all.
