25.01.2022 Rupert stealing the hearts of everyone here at the clinic .

25.01.2022 Brrrrrrrrrrrr, has the colder season come early? I feel the cold more easily now and I need some extra warmth. As your dog gets older, they begin to feel the cold a lot more. Its not as easy for them to regulate their body temperature. The energy your dog will use trying to stay warm on a colder day will make him more predisposed to other diseases. Helping keep your dogs body temperature up will help minimize joint and muscle stiffness and help ward off other disease...s as well. If your Doggo spends time outdoors during the colder months they will likely need a coat to help keep her warm, a nice Cozy bed and more time indoors. Closely monitor your dogs environmental temperature and watch for signs of your dog being cold such as shivering or shaking, whining, signs of anxiousness, seeking places to shelter, hunched posture with tucked tail or lifting one paw off the ground are all signs of discomfort. Make sure you dry your Doggo down if wet, provide a jacket or a sweater, a nice cozy warm bed and plenty of indoor time beside the fire or the heater.

14.01.2022 Barkley presented to us with blood in his urine and he was straining to urinate. These are clear symptoms of Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease, and it was very important to place a urinary catheter under anaesthesia to unblock Barkleys urethra so he could urinate properly again. Barkley will spend the next couple of days with us in hospital to recover and ensure he continues to urinate normally. Barkley is very happy to pass around purrs and snuggles and is a perfect patient in hospital! Get well soon, Barkley!

11.01.2022 Did you know that the living part of your dog/cat's nail is referred to as the quick? We are dedicated to providing a safe environment for everyone: if any of the following apply to you, please call us for advice about your pets upcoming visit: Have you traveled overseas OR interstate in the last 14 days? Are you experiencing any cold or flu symptoms?... Have you been in contact with anyone who tested positive for coronavirus? Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation

01.01.2022 My skin is dry and thinner my coat has become coarse and it takes longer to come out when the season changes. And my nails dont wear down like they use to! Theyre preventing me from balancing properly and they get in my way when we go walking. I need a little extra care with grooming these days! Older Dogs experience skin, coat and nail changes, and its important that we give our best friend a helping hand with more regular GROOMING. Your older dog might not be as ...likely or able to groom like he used to. Its important to increase how many times a week you brush out your dogs coat and help him stay clean and feeling great with recommended shampoos and conditioning treatments. Grooming, scratching and massaging is a great routine to get into. Not only will you be more likely to notice any bumps, lumps or strange changes, its also a wonderful bonding opportunity. Because your dog is less active your dogs nails will not file down of their own accord like they use to and may become more brittle. More frequent nail trimming is required to ensure they are balancing their weight equally on each limb. If youre not comfortable trimming your Doggos nails make an appointment and bring your dog in for a regular pedicure. If you need advice on skin and coat changes give us a call to discuss options for skin and coat health.

01.01.2022 Happy Saturday! Nurse Leona and Choko
