23.01.2022 Participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates in a virtual Meeting on Strengthening the Multilateral Health Architecture The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatiates, Mr. Nasser Bourita took part on Friday, June 26, 2020 to the virtual Ministerial Meeting of the Alliance for Multilateralism on the theme Strengthening the Multilateral Health Architecture. During this Video-Conference, the ...Minister underlined that Morocco has fully adhered to all initiatives aimed at adapting the multilateral system to the complexity of the contemporary worlds challenges. Indeed, the Kingdom defends a multilateralism that is "pragmatic, uninhibited, flexible and based on knowledge of facts and solidarity", according to Mr. Bourita. This spirit of solidarity underlies the vision promoted by His Majesty Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, for the development of Africa as He launched an initiative at the level of Heads of State intended to establish an operational framework to support African States in the different phases of managing the Coronavirus pandemic. Besides, the Minister added, in the same vein, that Morocco, in conformity with the Royal Vision, calls for special attention to the particular challenges facing Africa at all levels. While stressing the good example of the medical donations sent by the Kingdom of Morocco, following the Sovereigns High Instructions, to African Countries, the Minister highlighted that this constitutes a proof of the capacity of the African continent to meet its own challenges by itself. As an example, the Kingdom of Morocco, Keen on laying the foundations of a new system of international health security, will organize in partnership with Rwanda, an African Brotherly Country, the first High Level Meeting on Diplomacy for Health Security and Emergency Preparedness, placed under the joint High Patronage of HM the King and the President of Rwanda, Mr. Paul Kagame. As the pandemic of COVID-19 is entering a complex phase in which the exhilaration of a return to normality, the legitimate fears of a second wave and questions about the emerging multilateral system are mixed together, the Minister stressed the need to lay the foundations for a new multilateral order that is "coherent and flexible" to deal with the complexity of emerging threats, including that of pandemics. The Minister noted, equally, that a multilateralism adapted to global challenges "can only be boosted by concrete, uninhibited and fact-based initiatives", such as the action of the Alliance for Multilateralism, adding that all Nations must remain vigilant in order not to dissipate efforts and to preserve the effectiveness and the coherence of collective action, with the ultimate objective of reinforcing the actions the United Nations.

The Kingdom of Morocco is trying to find solutions to the Pandemic of Coronavirus at the national level as well as at the Continental level. In this respect, His Majesty Mohammed VI, King of Morocco proposed a joint African response to COVID-19 which has become the main preoccupation of all countries and continents around the world, including Africa. The Sovereign, keen on implementing so...uth-south cooperation with African peers, suggested an initiative aimed at establishing an operational framework to accompany African countries in their various phases of managing the pandemic, adopting a pragmatic and action-oriented initiative, enabling the sharing of experiences and best practices to address the health, economic and social impact of Coronavirus. In this regard, the African Unions Pan-African Parliament (PAP) hailed, through the attached document, the Sovereigns initiative which reflects willingness to share knowledge and technology with the rest of the continent for the much-required manufacturing of equipment, being crucial for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. The Kings vision for an inclusive solution for the African continent is based on Morocco's multidimensional and resolutely proactive response to COVID-19, being considered as a model hailed by the international community. Africa is depending, therefore, on an intra-African response, to confront Coronavirus and to prepare, in the best way, its economic recovery. Now more than ever, as His Majesty the King highlighted in previous occasions, Africa has to be self-confident and self-reliant to face this adversity.

13.01.2022 Morocco initiates a responsible operation to restore civil and commercial traffic at El Guerguarate crossing Faced with the serious and unacceptable provocations of the polisario militias in the buffer zone of El Guergarate in the Moroccan Sahara, Morocco has decided to act, in accordance with its attributions, its duties and in full compliance with international legality. Indeed, Morocco, after having committed itself to the greatest restraint, had no other choice apart fr...om assuming its responsibilities in order to put an end to the deadlock generated by such provocative acts and to restore the freedom of civil and commercial movement. The operation has been carried out in a civil manner without any clashes or threat to the safety of civilians. The Guerguerat Zone is now completely secured by the setting up of a security cordon, ensuring the flow of goods and people through the crossing between the two border posts. After taking note of the engagement of the Royal Armed Forces, the polisario militiamen voluntarily set fire to the tent camp they had established and fled in Jeeps and trucks towards the East and South, in front of the MINURSO observers. The Kingdom of Morocco had alerted and regularly informed the UN Secretary General and senior UN officials, as well as several neighbouring states about these extremely serious developments, in addition to giving the necessary time to the good offices of the United Nations and MINURSO to push the militiamen to leave the buffer zone. However, appeals from Minurso and the UN Secretary General, as well as the interventions of several members of the Security Council, have unfortunately been unsuccessful. The provocations made by the polisario and its militias, during many periods since 2016, constituted premeditated acts of destabilization, violating the status of the buffer zone and the provisions of the UN Security Council Resolutions (notably 2414 and 2440). Besides, such actions undermine the chances of any relaunch of the political process sought by the international community and exhaust the chances of any diplomatic solution. The polisario alone assumes full responsibility and the full consequences of these acts. The Kingdom of Morocco remains firmly attached to the preservation of the ceasefire, as the operation carried out by the Royal Armed Forces aims precisely to consolidate the ceasefire by preventing the recurrence of such serious and inadmissible acts that violate the military agreement and threaten regional security and stability.

This Phone conversation between the two Heads of State was focused on the develop...ment of bilateral relations in all fields, notably the political dialogue, the Economic Cooperation as well as the cultural and human exchanges. As the world, including the two countries, is undergoing a difficult moment due to the Coronavirus, the two Heads of State discussed the partnership between Rabat and Beijing with regard to the fight against Coronavirus as well as the future stages of cooperation between the two countries in managing this sanitary crisis. Besides, His Majesty the King tackled with the Chinese President the future stages of operational cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the People's Republic of China, as part of the fight against this pandemic. This meeting constituted an occasion for His Majesty the King to thank the People's Republic of China for the support that it provided to the robust preventive measures taken by the Kingdom of Morocco in order to stem the spread of the COVID-19, in terms of medical equipment, screening tests, and sharing information and expertise. It is worth recalling that Morocco and China enjoy excellent relations, reinforced by the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership, signed by His Majesty the King and the Chinese President Xi JINPING during the Royal Visit to Beijing, in May 2016. The visit has been marked by the conclusion of a strategic partnership between the two countries, reflecting the positive development of bilateral relations. Moreover, Morocco is one of the first signatories of the MoU of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) which contributes in the realization of the objectives of cooperation between Morocco, China and Africa within the framework of South-South Cooperation.

12.01.2022 Celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Glorious Green March Morocco is celebrating on November 6, 2020, the 45th anniversary of the Glorious Green March which constitutes an occasion to recall one of the most outstanding achievements of the Kingdom’s history under the Alaouite Throne and a brilliant manner of recovering the country’s sovereignty. Following the decision of the International Court of Justice in The Hague (Netherlands) which gave its advisory opinion on the... Sahara by confirming the existence of legal ties and allegiance between the throne and the tribes of the region, Late King Hassan II announced the organization of the Green March to concretize the recovery of the Kingdom’s southern provinces. In fact, Morocco regained, on November 6, 1975, the southern Sahara provinces from the protectorate through a peaceful Green March of 350,000 strong-willed patriots. This March has allowed Morocco to complete the recovery process of its territorial integrity and enabled equally the Sahrawi people to rejoin their beloved motherland. The peaceful march forced the withdrawal of the colonizer and was followed few days later by the signing of the Madrid Agreements by virtue of which the southern territory has been handed back to its rightful claimant, Morocco, which scored a historical, diplomatic victory. Since then, Morocco spared no efforts in providing this important region with all the necessary tools to bolster its social and economic development. Indeed, His Majesty King Mohammed VI announced a global development model for the region, designed to ensure the complete and final integration of the southern provinces to the unified motherland and to strengthen the role and influence of the Sahara as an economic hub and as a link between Morocco and its African neighborhood. This year’s celebration comes at a very important moment in which more than 18 countries have recently voiced their unwavering support to the Marocanity of the Sahara by proceeding to the inauguration of their respective Consulates Generals in the southern cities of Dakhla and Laayoune. This celebration comes equally few days after the adoption of the UN Security Council Resolution 2548 which enshrined, once again, the pre-eminence of the Moroccan initiative for Autonomy in its southern regions, providing a viable solution to put an end to the artificial conflict around Moroccan Sahara.

10.01.2022 Morocco ranks 2nd at the world level in terms of Climate Action according to the 2019 climate performance index Report established by Germanwatch, Newclimate Institute and Climate Action International Network. As stated in the Report which classified Sweden as the best country in terms of Climate Action, Morocco has made over the past five years, huge efforts in favour of the climate by considerably increasing the share of renewable energies in its energy mix. This Report w...hich takes into consideration several criteria defined to develop the climate performance index, including national greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energies, climate policy and energy consumption underlines that Morocco, possessing the largest solar power plant in the world and many wind plants, attaches a great importance to protecting the environment. Besides, the Climate Performance Index Report indicates that the Kingdom has taken valuable initiatives such as the one for the adaptation of African Agriculture, launched on the occasion of COP 22 in Marrakech, aiming for the better management by the agricultural sector of the risks linked to climate change as well as of the country's water resources. It is worth recalling that Morocco has demonstrated, during the recent international conferences and events on this subject, its commitment in favour of facing the environmental challenges. In this regard, Morocco, relying on its experience and expertise, never ceases to prospect opportunities of transferring know-how to its peers in the south. More than a green hub, Morocco has become, from the perspective of the continent, both a platform of expertise in the field of sustainable project management and a qualified player in setting up financing solutions and associated partnerships. The Kingdom has several assets, notably its ability to enhance technical, financial and social innovation to contribute to the progress of the continent and the accomplishment of the 2030 objectives of the Green Agenda in Africa. By 2030, the Kingdom's ambition is to offer an energy mix that is composed of 52.2% of renewable energies. Aware of the threat that environmental mismanagement constitutes, the Kingdom will address the issues of the ecological transition as a whole. It has brought, in this respect, ambitious sustainable development programs to develop rural areas and to adopt responsible management of urbanization.

However, it has witnessed an active participation of the Diplomatic Corps as well as a strong presence of dignitaries to pay tribute to the Australian victims of war.

04.01.2022 41st anniversary of the recovery of Oued Eddahab The Moroccan people commemorate on August 14, 2020, the 41st anniversary of the recovery of the province of Oued Eddahab, one of the most glorious pages of Moroccos history. This date has been important in the completion of independence and the recovery of the Kingdoms territorial integrity after the period of Protectorate. The recovery of Oued Eddahab has also shown to the world the unwavering attachment of the Moroccan Peop...le to the Alawite Throne and the expression of its constant mobilization for defending their countrys main national cause. On August 14, 1979, Scholars, Dignitaries and Tribal Chiefs of the Province of Oued Eddahab went to the Royal Palace of Rabat to renew their oath of allegiance to His Majesty Hassan II, May He Rest in Peace, thus reaffirming their attachment to their motherland. Through this highly patriotic gesture, the inhabitants of Oued Eddahab proved that they will never give up their Moroccan identity by showing to the whole world that the Sahara is and will always remain Moroccan. The historical return of this beloved part of the Moroccan territory to the homeland was the result of a long struggle over decades undertaken by Morocco to complete its independence and territorial integrity, crowned by the recovery of the city of Tarfaya and Sidi Ifni in 1969 and other parts of the Moroccan Sahara following the Green March in 1975. Nowadays, the province of Oued Ed-Dahab has achieved a qualitative advance in the economic, social and urban areas, as it is now part of the poles of both domestic and foreign investment, particularly in the areas of fishing, equipment, agriculture and tourism. The commemoration of the recovery of the province of Oued Ed-Dahab will always be an opportunity to reflect national values that are the basis of the epics of Morocco and to carry on the mobilization to preserve the Kingdom's unity, going forward in the building and development process of a solid nation from Tangier to Lagouira .

The Kingdom's national artcraft culture is inspired from a mixture between Berber traditions with Arab, Jewish, Andalusian, and other Mediterranean influences.... Moroccan craftship expresses its creativity through multiple shapes and countless materials such as: wood, leather, iron, fabrics and ceramics. A visit to Morocco nowadays, whether to the cosmopolitan Marrakech, Rabat, Casablanca, the ancient walled city of Fez, the coastal city of Essaouira, or the mysterious Routes of the Atlas Mountains, allows travellers to discover the living legacy of these historic influences. In every city, there are hundreds of artists carrying out the skill and art that they inherited from previous generations. The craftship in Morocco continues to develop, meeting the requirements of modernity, as the Moroccan crafts have considerable potentialities enabling it to adapt to the evolution of the national and international markets. Moroccan artists from across the Kingdom have sophisticated their creative effort to produce infinite variations of abstract and geometric motifs. Among the most prominent handicraft traditions in Morocco, we find wood work which is widely renowned in ancient Moroccan cities. Designs of carpets and rugs, known for their perfection, are characterized by symmetry. In terms of Leatherwork, tanneries in Moroccan cities are still excelling in the transformation into soft leather suitable for shoes, bags, cushions, book coversetc. Furthermore, the Kingdom has gained a deserved reputation for good textile productions, especially for the woven and embroidered fabrics. In addition, the craft of jewellery has had a long tradition in Moroccos history. The Skills of Andalusian and Jewish descendants marked the workshops of many Moroccan cities during the last centuries. Moreover, Moroccos markets are full of colourful treasures of the Moroccan Artcraft, among them, a wide variety of pottery. Vases and Pots, redecorated with colourful etchings, sit for sale alongside Tagines, the conical-shaped cooking pots which are typical of Moroccan cuisine. It is worth mentioning that blue and green colours are extensively used in the Moroccan architecture as they denote calmness and relaxation. Most traditional houses known as riad have a small fountain inside as you will see through the following video which highlights the most important aspects of Moroccan Craftship.

03.01.2022 Beginning of the Libyan Dialogue in Bouznika, Morocco In the framework of Morocco’s efforts to help Libya, a neighbouring country in the Maghreb region, to overcome its crisis, the Libyan Dialogue between the delegations of the Libyan High Council of State and the Parliament of Tobruk began on the 6th of September 2020 in Bouznika (Near Casablanca). This new round of dialogue comes a few weeks after the visit of the President of the Libyan High Council of State, Khaled Al M...echri and the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Aguila Salah, to Morocco, at the invitation of the speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives. Speaking at the opening session, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita recalled the Kingdom’s approach as specified by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, insisting on that the Libyan crisis’ solution shall be based on three fundamental principles, namely the Libyan sense of patriotism, the belief in a political solution and the confidence in the capacities of the Libyan High Council of State and the Libyan House of Representatives, as legitimate institutions capable of overcoming obstacles and the commitment to dialogue for the country’s interests, with all the responsibility and ability to overcome circumstantial difficulties. The Minister, highlighting that Morocco favours the approach taken under the United Nations auspices, considers that the Libyan issue should not be a diplomatic issue or the subject of political dissension, but rather one relating to the fate of a brotherly Maghreb country, with which the Kingdom maintains a sincere fraternity and whose stability and security concern the region as a whole. Mr. Bourita underlined, in this regard, that Morocco has neither an agenda, nor an initiative or path, having never agreed to choose among the Libyans. On the contrary, it still considers that the Libyans are brothers and that they have to take responsibility and put Libyan interests above any other consideration. Furthermore, the Minister emphasized that Morocco has always shown the willingness to create the space where the Libyans can discuss in a constructive and positive spirit in order to move forward according to the agenda chosen by Libyans themselves, and to promote an inter-Libyan dialogue without interference in the delegations, nor in the agenda or in the results, adding that the Kingdom will applaud any consent between the Libyans. He highlighted, equally, that Morocco has full confidence in the Libyan parties to continue, without hesitation, on the way out of the crisis and to go beyond the equation of the winner and the loser and the logic of "any gain for one part is a weakening for the other". He also called for a pragmatic and practical dialogue to restore confidence, build understanding, mature ideas and consensus and elaborate agreements with viable ways to exit the crisis.
