It is brewed with pale & crystal malts, and hopped in the boil & dry hopped with varieties of high alpha hops from North Americas Pacific Northwest.... 24.01.2022 !! Our first edition of Sampler XPA features Amarillo hops added late to the boil and after fermentation (dry hopped). In launching this special beer we aim to brew a series of beers under the same brand but intentionally using a different late hop to yield slightly different flavour and aroma from beer to beer. Thus, as with our evolving beers this approach enables us to evolve a brand and, at the same time, provide our customers with a wider h...op flavour and aroma experience. 24.01.2022 TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS AND FRIENDS As you are aware due to the recent lockdown many industries and small businesses have been hit hard. Pubs like the Commercial Hotel and independent breweries like Morpeth Brewery are no exception. We are all, of course, hoping for an early return to normality Rest assured, the brewery itself is not in lockdown. As an independent brewery with a strong local following, we have been looking at various ways to be able to offer our loyal custom...ers a way of accessing some of their favourite beers during these abnormal times. We are currently exploring various options for our beers during this time of crisis, and looking seriously at a fast-track packaging possibility; we will keep you updated on any definitive moves in this direction. In the meantime we have a limited inventory of eight different beers, including our new XPA and Mullet Run Maple Porter (Original) both of which will be ready for dispense in a month or so. A portion of our inventory is being held in reserve in the event the lockdown ends soonest we want to hit the ground running on the first day back. 23.01.2022 & - exclusive to The Commercial Hotel Morpeth - featuring Simcoe hops Sampler XPA is an ale with a pleasant balance of hops and malt. It is distinctly aromatic, flavoursome, easy drinking and more-ish. At 4.9% abv, this is a beer that stands on its own.... With each successive brew we intentionally use a different late hop to yield slightly different flavour and aroma from beer to beer. This approach enables us to evolve the brand and, at the same time, provide our customers with a wider hop flavour and aroma experience. For our dark ale fans we are pleased to tell you that Black Tractor is now back on tap at our favourite pub, the Commercial Hotel, Morpeth.

23.01.2022 To all of our loyal customers and friends, We have appreciated your continued support since lockdown restrictions were eased a few months ago. Our beer sales have been much better than expected and we are now at the point where our early stock is virtually gone and we are waiting for new stock to properly condition and mature. We know some of you have been disappointed that some of your favourite brews are currently not available however we would like to assure you that it wo...nt be long before they are back. We have been brewing furiously during the past several weeks and now have a fair number of kegs getting ready in our cold room and expect to see the first of these on the bar in the next few weeks. Aside from fresh new batches of our regulars, Black Tractor and Close Call, we have coming up our new XPA (version 2, featuring Simcoe hops), Match Double Red IPA, Nature Boy West Coast IPA, and an old favourite, Big Hitter Special Bitter. Not far behind these will be Trade Winds IPA and a new ESB (yet to be named). Theres much to look forward to, making the most of the difficult times we are all enduring. Many of you may be more familiar with Big Hitter Extra Special Bitter, a stronger version of an English-style bitter, which has been on more frequently in recent years.... Big Hitter Special Bitter - at 4.9% abv - is mid-amber in colour and brewed with a blend of light & coloured malts, two types of English hops and an English ale yeast it is a smooth, well-balanced beer brimming with flavour.

13.01.2022 At Morpeth Brewery we have been brewing hand-crafted artisan beers on the premises of the Commercial Hotel since 2012. We are a small, independent, Australian family brewery. We brew our beers with passion and in accordance with the German beer purity law of 1516 (the worlds oldest food law that is still in force today), using only malt, hops, yeast and water.... We do not use additives or preservatives nor do we filter or pasteurize our beers. We do not add artificial carbon dioxide to our beers in order to carbonate them as many of the big breweries do all of our beers are naturally carbonated. In this way, our natural, living beers - like fine wines - mature and evolve with time, and a glass of beer imbibed early in the life of a batch may offer a subtly different taste experience from a glass of the same batch consumed several days later.

13.01.2022 Our Special Tribute to Australian Cricket THE ASHES-MATCH DOUBLE RED IPA This beer is our tribute to the one of the oldest and most popular sports played in Australia. The first game in Australia was in December 1803. The first tour by an English team to Australia was in 1861-62. Australias first tour of England was in 1868. A famous victory on Australias 1882 tour of England resulted in a satirical obituary being printed in an English newspaper, The Sporting Times. The obituary stated that English cricket had died, and the body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia. The English media then dubbed the next English tour to Australia (188283) as the quest to regain The Ashes.

10.01.2022 & , - . Morpeth Brewery beer sales in the month of June were such that our reserves are beginning to run quite low. Consequently we have had to elevate our planned brewing program for the next few months. After being closed for more than three months its a bit like starting over again and we now expect that July ...and August will see significant renewed brewery activity. As many of you know, our beers depending on the style - can take from one month to as long as three months between the time its brewed to the time when its deemed ideal for serving, so getting our stock levels back up will be a bit of a juggling act. Therefore, our current low beer reserves and the varied aging times of our beers will require us to reduce the current numbers of beers on tap from six down to four, which means we will soon be closing the side bar for a period of around two months. During this period we will focus on ensuring that any interruptions to the availability of our most popular beers will be kept to a minimum. Once we have the stock balance in place then we expect to be able to smoothly revert to a semblance of normality across the board.

06.01.2022 You must be elated by the easing of the lockdown restrictions that we have all been enduring these past more than two months. We were seriously getting used to the idea of a much longer lockdown period and now feel grateful that the restrictions have now been eased considerably. It seems we now can look forward to a semblance of the life we had before. The beer taps have now begun to flow again at the The Commercia...l Hotel Morpeth , albeit under certain conditions imposed along with the easing of the restrictions. The long weekend proved amazingly busy with the great weather bringing in the locals again as well as people from far and wide. As the pub continues adjusts to the re-opening, the matters of staffing, food & beer inventories and working with the imposed conditions are gradually being brought up to speed. During this early period we opted to run four beers on the main bar only for the first week or so Today we have re-opened the side bar and we now have six beers to choose from: , , ( ), , , . And very soon, our line-up will be expanded to feature our brand new brews, Windjammer IPA and Sampler XPA. Stay tuned! 02.01.2022 The Origin of India Pale Ales The beer style known as India Pale Ale (IPA) is also considered the original English Pale Ale style. It has its own distinct history and origin. Tradition tells us that, as the British Empire expanded further east into India, they found the hot climate unsuitable for brewing the countrys traditional ales and so beer was supplied to the colony from Britain. As a means to ensure the preservation of the beer on the ships during the long journey from England to India, the beer was brewed strong, using an unusually high quantity of hops

01.01.2022 (5.5% abv) This amazing ale is an excellent example of the popular ‘Ex S B’ (ESB) style popular in England, known more for its full-bodied maltiness than its hop bitterness. Mid-amber in colour and brewed with a blend of light & dark malts and three types of English hops, it is a full flavoured beer, easy on the bitter with a satisfying finish on the palate.

This was our first beer poured across the bar on our first day of trading on April 25, 2012....
