09.01.2022 SOLAR PANEL FIRES | We are urging residents with solar panels to remain aware and vigilant after an influx in solar panel fires this year. This footage was obta...ined from a neighbour in Glenwood who called Triple Zero (000) after noticing a house nearby had solar panels alight. This was one of six solar panel fires that Fire and Rescue NSW attended in the past week alone. These statistics show solar panel fires are up 20 percent compared to last year and continuing to rise. Isolation switches appear to be causing almost half of solar panel fires, so it is vital to ensure solar panels are installed and regularly maintained by a professional and that systems comply with Australian Standards. Always do a licence check with NSW Fair Trading before any installation and wiring takes place. This can be found at https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au//during-th/solar-panels. #MoreThanFire #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #PreparedForAnything

09.01.2022 The temperatures have dropped! But your safety standards shouldnt! Keep the fire contained to your fireplace this winter. 05.01.2022 Solar panels are a very popular addition to homes, however fires involving solar panels have increased dramatically- almost 80% in the last five years. Solar pa...nels were found to be the cause of four fires in the last week alone and are up more than 20% from this time last year, with solar isolation switches causing almost half of all solar panel-related fires. NSW residents can play their part in ensuring solar panels are as safe as possible by making sure their solar panel system complies with Australian standards and using a qualified installer. Its always a good idea to do a license check with NSW Fair Trading before any work takes place. Remember, calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed. For more information on solar panel safety, visit the Fair Trading website here: https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au//during-th/solar-panels
