01.02.2022 Members of our brigade were moved by the opportunity to join the Happy Valley brigade for the sounding of their siren and a minute of silence tonight, to pay tribute to our fallen colleague. Vale Louise Hincks

24.01.2022 Motorists are advised that Bains rd at Onkaparinga Hills, between Piggot Range rd and Knox drive is currently closed after a collision between a truck and a car. CFS crews and Police remain on scene dealing with a Diesel leak from the truck. *Updated 12:50pm*... The road is now open with some restrictions while the cleanup continues. See more

23.01.2022 Our firefighters train every Monday night, tonight was hose and pump work - and then it rained, a lot Next week we will begin our fire season preparations with all of our members undertaking their annual Burnover Drill training session.

23.01.2022 Although we are in lockdown our crews are still responding to emergencies. You’ll notice that our firefighters will be wearing masks anytime they are out in the community or at the fire station, and there may be less crew on the truck to maintain social distancing. Currently we have four fire-fighters responding to a fire at Yumali as part of a Mawson Group Strike Team. Stay safe during lockdown, we’re all in this together.

23.01.2022 Five separate structure fires have kept our crews busy this week. Last weekend we responded to a factory fire at Hackham, followed by a house fire at Hackham West on Wednesday, then another house fire at Hackham West last night and a reported shop fire and a house fire at Morphett Vale this morning. Although it's been busy this week, our crews are always ready to respond to the next incident.

22.01.2022 Good work by the Emmaus School staff to evacuate the area and call triple zero. Our fire-fighters investigated the building and located a faulty computer monitor.

21.01.2022 Our members shared a Christmas lunch in various different locations today, some in the Adelaide Hills and some in northern New South Wales - still smiling though

20.01.2022 How good is this.. Lisa recently turned 21, and she insisted that instead of being given any presents, any money that would’ve been spent on her was collected and donated to the local CFS brigade and a local wildlife rescue organisation Last night we welcomed Lisa, James and Michelle to our station where they presented us with a donation, they then stayed to watch our training drills where we impressed them with the speed and professionalism of our crews responding to a tr...aining incident. It’s this kind of unexpected support from the community that has humbled our members over the last few weeks. We certainly don’t volunteer for recognition or reward, but it’s great to see that the community appreciate what we do. Thankyou Lisa

16.01.2022 Terrific teamwork on the ground and from above to contain a grass fire in the Christies Creek area today. CFS and MFS crews worked together in steep terrain to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby properties. Crews will be on scene for several more hours extinguishing hot spots.

16.01.2022 We welcomed the City of Onkaparinga Mayor, Erin Thompson to the Fire Station earlier this week. Take a minute to listen to this important message from our local council.

16.01.2022 Huge thank you to Pimpala Pizza for donating meals to our crews this evening. Our crews have been tirelessly committed to the Cherry Gardens fire for the past 24 hours and are enjoying a well earned rest and great feed. Thank you to everyone that has supported our brigade over the recent Fire Seasons. Our volunteers appreciate your kind gestures and support.

15.01.2022 The last few months have been as busy as we’ve ever been, with the deployments to QLD/NSW then the Cudlee Creek fire and straight from there into the Kangaroo Island blaze. Throughout this time though we’ve had an amazing level of support from the local community. In one case, we attended an early morning Firecall this week to find our station had been graffitied in a good way We’ve also had a lot of people just stopping into the fire station to donate home made baked goods..., food and drinks, as well as many offers of support from local businesses. It’s humbling to our members to realise that the community really do appreciate what we do. We’ve still got a long way to go to get through this fire season, and our members will continue to be on Kangaroo Island for probably many weeks yet but from all of us at the brigade we thank you for continuing to support us.

15.01.2022 An early morning incident at Old Reynella kept us busy this morning. Do the right thing during this time and stay home so we can too. #stayhome #staysafe

13.01.2022 It's always terrible to see one of our local businesses suffer, after the fire at Woodcroft this morning. However quick action by the first arriving crews from the Happy Valley CFS and SA Metropolitan Fire Service prevented the fire spreading to neighbouring businesses. If you saw anything unusual in the area around the time of the fire, please contact the SA Police.

13.01.2022 Our crews remain on the ground today at this incident in Clarendon, take care if you are in the area as there will be emergency vehicles on some of the narrow roads.

13.01.2022 New Years Eve is often a busy time for our volunteers, and this year was no different. In the last 24 hours our crews have responded to six incidents - including a grass fire in very difficult terrain at Happy Valley. Disappointingly, fireworks were located at three of the grass fires we attended. Thankyou to all of our amazing volunteers for giving up your holidays to keep the community safe.

10.01.2022 Our firefighters enjoyed another morning meeting our community, this time at the Stepping Stones Childcare Centre at Morphett Vale. These visits are a great opportunity to teach basic fire safety lessons to the children, as well as showing them some of our equipment and letting them have a go with the hoses.

08.01.2022 Amidst everything that is going on at the moment we thought we would re-assure the community that CFS brigades will continue to respond to emergencies when called. We have ceased training, and restricted access to our fire stations so you may not see us around in the community as much as you did previously and at some incidents we may be wearing additional personnel protective equipment (goggles, gloves and masks) to protect our crews and the community, however if you need us - we’re still here. The picture below is from a gas leak at Woodcroft earlier today.

05.01.2022 Even on a mild day like today a fire can cause problems. A grass fire in Onkaparinga Hills required the response of four appliances as well two fixed wing bombers and two helicopters to contain it to about one hectare.

05.01.2022 One of the appliances in our station is a small Quick Response Vehicle which carries 400 litres of water, two firefighters and has an ultra high pressure pump fitted to it. Even though it doesn’t carry as much water as our larger trucks, it’s ideal for accessing some of the more difficult terrain - as we found at Clarendon on Friday.

02.01.2022 It’s the first day of Summer, which means that the fire danger season has now begun in the Mt Lofty Ranges and the Adelaide Metropolitan fire ban districts. Burning off is now prohibited throughout South Australia without a permit. Last night our crews extinguished a burnoff in Onkaparinga Hills at the request of the resident.

01.01.2022 We’ll leave the netball to the experts, but thankyou to the awesome ladies at the Croweaters Netball Club for organising two fundraising events for our brigade.

18.12.2021 We had another great morning talking about fire safety and playing with some water with the children at the Southern Vales Christian College.

11.12.2021 Training during the day provides our firefighters with additional opportunities to meet our community This morning, young Mason was very excited to see our crew training outside his house. It looks like we might have a new Fire Chief in a few years

04.12.2021 What a great day to come along to the City of Onkaparinga Touch a Truck event at the Wilfred Taylor Reserve. There’s lots of different trucks and equipment to look at, and our friendly Fire-fighters will answer any questions you have about the CFS. We even received this great drawing of one of our Fire trucks

23.11.2021 The good thing about being a community organisation is that it allows us to get out and speak to some of the wonderful people within our local area. Today we had the pleasure of assisting a student at the Southern Vales Christian College who had made an amazing dress for a year 12 project and an entry into the Australian Teenage Fashion Awards. The flame dress relates to the devastating bushfires of 2020 and looks fantastic. We also had the opportunity to thank our good friends at the Quartz Cafe at Morphett Vale who have been a long time supporter of our brigade.

16.11.2021 Members of the Morphett Vale brigade and other brigades within the Mawson CFS Group gathered to donate blood today as part of the Emergency Services Blood Challenge for the Red Cross. Well done to all for giving up their time and being involved in this important initiative

29.10.2021 We might all be in Lockdown, but our volunteers had a good reason to leave the house today when severe winds swept through the area. If you do have to leave the house please take care as there is still plenty of debris on the roads.

25.10.2021 Are you available to respond to emergency incidents during weekdays ? Do you live within five minutes of the Morphett Vale CFS Fire Station on Doctors road at Hackham? Do you have the time to commit a few hours each week to training and assisting the community ? If so then we would like to hear from you.... An opportunity to join our team of volunteers is currently available for the right person, if you think this is you please send us a direct message and we'll be in touch.

06.10.2021 Do you know where you are right now? Could you describe your exact location if you needed help from emergency services? If not, the What3Words app could be a l...ifesaver. What3words allocates three words to every 3x3m area on earth. The words are unique to each grid square, and can be provided to Triple Zero operators to help them instantly find your exact location. Just last month, a bike rider in Cleland Conservation Park needed medical assistance and used the app when contacting triple zero. It saved emergency services hours of searching along the off-road track and meant the rider could get the help he needed. It's free and available now for iPhone and Android systems, with what3words also part of the Emergency+ app. In case of an emergency, open the app, wait a few seconds for the blue dot to settle in one place, then use the three words shown to tell emergency services exactly where you are.

27.09.2021 Only a few days left to register for our Cadet Information Session next week. We are currently seeking interest from junior members of our community that are interested in becoming a volunteer fire-fighter with the Morphett Vale CFS brigade. Cadets can join the brigade from 14 years old, and then begin to transition to a fire-fighter when they are between 16 -18 years old.... Our Cadets train every Wednesday night from 1830 until 2030 and learn a variety of skills, including: * Basic fire fighting skills, hose work, riding on trucks in a non-emergency role, pump operations and radio communications. * Community activities such as attending local events. * Helping out with community projects and fundraising events. * Fun activities including camps, competitions, go-karting and movies. Ideally Cadets will live close to the fire-station, so when they become a fire-fighter they will be able to respond to incidents in a timely manner. Places are very limited, however if you are interested in joing as a Cadet please send an email to [email protected] and we'll be in touch to provide more information.

19.09.2021 Did some ‘Bunny’ say Sausage Sizzle It’s eggselent weather to get down to the Bunnings at Reynella to grab a snag from one of our smiling volunteers
