24.01.2022 COVID Update In light of the new COVID cluster affecting us in Adelaide, the MPCC Committee want to issue a reminder about the rules we have in place to keep our players and cricketing families and friends safe from the virus. Those rules can be found at our website: http://morphettvilleparkcc.sa.cricket.com.au//mpcc%20retur... Of immediate concern: If you or a family member, house mate or work mate is a close or casual contact of anyone from the Parafield cluster, please do not come to the club or attend training/matches. Follow SA Health's directions and get tested. In general: If you are feeling unwell or experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms, or if any of your close contacts (including but not limited to family, house mates and work mates) are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms, stay away from the club/training/matches. Players must advise their Captains ASAP if they are unwell and stay home. If players are sick and come to training, matches or other club activities, they WILL be sent home immediately so as not to risk the health of everyone else. The same rule applies to spectators. It should go without saying that washing and sanitising your hands at every opportunity must be adhered to. Hand sanitiser can be found throughout the clubrooms and all 4 Captains have sanitiser available for team mates at every game. Use it! Together with social distancing measures, we can ensure our club family remains safe during this outbreak, allowing for our season to continue - MPCC Committee https://www.facebook.com/sahealth/posts/3668536259875576

22.01.2022 From the Sporting Club: To our valued Supporters, Members and Players (our Roos Family), As a result of the latest round of Covid-19 restrictions being eased on Monday, we are very happy to announce that we are now allowed to double the capacity in the clubrooms.... Last week with the tighter restrictions still in place it threw up a few challenges in trying to squeeze in just the players, parents and support staff across each night. Now though, we can throw open the doors to a lot more of you to come in and have a look around your magnificent new Club! We have been itching to show off our new pride & joy and despite originally planning to do so back in March, we can now confirm that we are going to hold our first OPEN DAY for all of you this SUNDAY, JULY 5. As we have games scheduled for Sunday, we will only have a limited window in which we can show you through the changerooms (11am-1pm), and then at 1:30pm we will have our Roos version of the opening. We are privileged that Club Matriarch, Shirley Breavington will be there cut the ribbon and declare the Clubrooms officially Open. The room is named after Shirley and her late husband Lance, so we hope as many of you as possible can be there for the occasion. Well remain open for the afternoon as our Girls U/18 team plays at 3pm, so it would be great if you can come along and have a look through our new home. During the past week it has given us the chance to give everything a trial run so to speak, allowing us to identify and iron out any small issues that popped up to make sure were fully ready to go when we see you next. We are striving to become a destination venue both on and off field so one of the steps taken to help achieve this has been to get in a qualified Chef to run our brand new, state of the art kitchen. Maddi has already been a hugely popular addition to the Club and the quality of the various meals coming out of the kitchen is first class! These will be on offer on Sunday so you will be able to see what were talking about. So hopefully you can make it along on Sunday, grab a bite to eat, a cold bevvie and hopefully youll be as proud of the place as we are! MPSCC

22.01.2022 C Grade Match Report Southern Warriors won the toss and elected to bat. One of their openers was aggressive early and didn’t take long for us to have them 1 down for 18. They continued to want to be aggressive hitting some boundaries.... Kade Crosby was bowling a good spell where they struggled to get him away. We introduced spin early which really put the brakes on them, with Steven Thomas bowling a great spell. We went to drinks having them 4/68. We chose to go with spin again after drinks but with Evan Park. He bowled superbly creating many chances and slowing their run rate down significantly, picking up a couple of wickets. We rested our star recruit S.T from the other end and went with our up and coming superstar, U/16 wicket keeper Michael Smith. Fair to say the lad can do anything, claiming 4/27 from 7 overs. His first wicket coming from a cracker caught and bowled. We ended up rolling them for 113 in the 35th over. Although we dropped a couple of catches, overall it was a solid fielding performance. Daniel Monro again excellent with the gloves. M Smith 4/27 E Park 2/18 K Crosby 1/12 S Thomas 1/11 B Crosby 1/26 Catches D. Monro 2 E. Park M. Smith K. Crosby M. Henley H. Culliver The run chase started well with an opening partnership of 47 at more than a run a ball between Daniel Monro and Jess Keon. Munners fell for a quick fire 31. Evan Park was unluckily ran out for 1. Jess went on to be the aggressor hitting some good boundaries and in the end was caught of a short ball for a good knock of 47, with our total on 97 runs. This left 2 of our 16 year olds in Kade Crosby and Zac Spilsbury to close out the run chase in an impressive 21 overs. J Keon 47 D Monro 31 K Crosby 21* Z Spilsbury 7* Great start to the season winning our first 2. Our next game is our first 2 day game of the season against ICC at home, and will be a good test for us to see where we are at. Cheers, Binga.
21.01.2022 A big 'thank you' to all those that made it to our AGM yesterday The new MPCC Committee is as follows: OFFICIAL COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS... We have a range of sponsorship options available, which we've taken the opportunity to update with some new benefits.... We still offer our $200 Player Sponsorship, and for businesses that are seeking promotional opportunities through our website, socials and clubroom TV's, we have introduced Premier and Corporate Sponsorship packages. With these two new packages we are introducing 'Sponsor Rounds', with businesses allocated and promoted throughout that round, providing additional exposure through our cricket community. 12 month oval signage is also a new benefit, available with the Corporate Sponsorship package. BECOME PART OF THE TEAM If you or someone you know would like to help contribute to the club's success, please contact Scott Paterson on 0422 767 732. 20.01.2022 3 TRAINING SESSIONS LEFT BEFORE ROUND 1 Come out to training Sundays 9am. Lots of keen players this year to cause plenty of selection headaches for our chairman of selectors and captains. If you cant make Sundays make it known so you can still be considered for round 1 #Morphies
20.01.2022 D Grade Match Report V Plympton III Won the toss and bowled first on a postage stamp sized oval favouring square boundaries.... Michael Barnett opened the bowling and we were instantly rewarded with a first wicket for the team. Youngster Aidan Walsh was given the opportunity from the opposite end in his first senior game for the club. Plymptons batting combination took control with some serious hitting and they put on a 150+ partnership before Barney struck again. Unfortunately for our bowlers we bowled way to short on the day and must learn from this. Crispy bowled tirelessly without luck. Patty Stone also in his first senior game will be better for the experience. Mark Simon was outstanding with the ball and in the field with 120% commitment. By the close of the inning Plympton had amassed 5/260. Barnett 2/33 (8) Simons 1/50 (8) Spehr 1/45 (4) Liam Bates 1 catch and runout Started the run chase with Crisp and AJ opening the batting. It didn't take long to notice that the ball was being bowled with a completely different length to ours and it paid dividends for them early. Crispy lbw (5). Followed soon after AJ lbw (12). Ben Porter promoted up the order for a quick fire (11) as to for Spehr (11). At this point (7/66) the task was beyond us but taking some positives. Walshys and Pat Stone hung in there and frustrated the bowlers who thought they would be home early. Mark Simons continued his outstanding effort in the field with a stubborn 24 no with the assistance of Sasha Mykolajenko who together saw out the 40 overs finishing a 9/113. Not a great day but to take some positives is the aim. Aidan Walsh and Pat Stone first senior games, the return of Ben Porter to our side adds voice and glovemanship and the continued commitment of Mark Simons in every facet of his game. We can only improve on this performance so get out to training and continue to become better.
20.01.2022 Good luck to all of our sponsors for Rd 3

20.01.2022 C Grade match report. We ventured to the city to play against Adelaide Lutheran. We won the toss and elected to bowl. We bowled well in our first 20 overs with Ethan Jones and Steven Thomas opening the bowling. We went to drinks with them 2/46.... Our opposition got on top of us in the next 20 overs with us going to the tea break with them 3/143. Our catching not helping our cause with a few dropped catches. The last 20 overs we fought back well keeping their total to 204 with 8 wickets down. Jones, Culliver and Crosby all bowled well at the death. We may have kept them to less if we could’ve held more dropped catches. B Crosby 3/46 E Jones 2/25 H Culliver 2/38 Catches D Monro E Jones B Crosby Run outs Warne / Culliver Our run chase saw us lose early wickets and went to drinks at 3/60 odd. Our innings was steadied with some solid batting from Steven Thomas and Heath Culliver. When both were dismissed this saw Zac Spilsbury and Pat Broadwood put on some valuable runs. Unfortunately Zac fell just before tea where we went in at 6/147. The game was in the balance, and with the score at 6/181 Pat was dismissed for a hard fought 49 runs to a good catch at mid wicket. Not long after, 2 run outs within 2 overs saw us in trouble at 9/181 still requiring 24 runs to win with 8 odd overs remaining. Ethan Jones and myself batted for 6 odd overs, trying to scrounge up the runs. Unfortunately we fell 8 runs short of victory when I played at a ball and was caught behind. P Broadwood 49 Z Spilsbury 25 S Thomas 20 E Jones 5 no Although a disappointing loss, it was a close game again which our young, and older guys will learn greatly from. We now drop down to second spot which sees the top four teams all on 19 points, so really important we move on from this game and focus on our next game. Special mention to club favourite Daniel Monro who took his 100th catch for the Mighty Roos!! Cheers, Binga.

19.01.2022 Good Morning All, We have just received the following information from SACA regarding the current COVID-19 issue, so please stay tuned as to what this means for little old us. "Dear Stakeholders, ... In the best interests of cricket participants and the wider community, this communication outlines how Australian cricket will do our part to further protect players, staff, volunteers and match officials at all levels of the game plus the wider community during the global coronavirus pandemic. Cricket Australia, in consultation with its State and Territory Associations, has cancelled the Marsh Sheffield Shield final for 2019-20 and the South Australian Cricket Association has taken the further step of cancelling all Premier Cricket finals from this week onwards. We expect local community cricket and school competitions to take the same leadership position and cancel all cricket playing and training activity for the remainder of the 2019-20 season in response to this unprecedented global health issue. This expectation also applies to competitions that are just starting or about to commence in some parts of the country. Where relevant, we will work with these associations to minimise this disruption. This is an evolving issue and decisions on starting or recommencing should be made carefully in line with government advice and direction from Cricket Australia and SACA. We know many people in cricket communities around Australia will be disappointed with this decision, but it has been made in our communities best interests in consultation with government and expert medical advice from Cricket Australias Chief Medical Officer, John Orchard. We acknowledge that this is a more extreme step than communicated in previous weeks, but our advice now is that the risks of playing organised sport at any level are too high to safely continue. We also recommend that all clubs and associations consider the cancellation or postponement of end of season functions and events, as well as moving committee meetings to an online platform. If you need any assistance with this, please contact your SACA representative. As all communities, organisations and institutions around the world rally to slow the spread of the coronavirus, so must Australian cricket. We hope that by taking these actions now we can play a small part in flattening the curve and stemming the spread of the virus. For any further information, please read our FAQs here. Our number one priority is to the cricket communities that we lead and serve, as well as their families. Thank you for your commitment to cricket in your community. All of our thoughts are with you and your families as you navigate these uncertain times. Kind regards, Shane Bernhardt General Manager Community Cricket"

11.01.2022 B grade match report Round 4 v Sheidow Park II Due to me running late (pre-planned) Mark Voyzey failed the team miserably by actually winning a toss and giving us a choice, which we used to bat first. Up against possibly the strongest bowling side in the section, we needed to bat long and deep, which started well with Kym and Brett putting on another 50 run opening stand.... With Mark in at 3, we progressed safely but slowly, being 1/103 after 40. Our efforts at acceleration didn't get off to the best start, with Kym being run out and Mark falling soon after. We steadily lost wickets in the last 20 overs, 3 run outs not helping our cause, all to the same fielder. We did manage to add another 70 runs to leave us at a respectable and defendable 173. Kym was once again the pick of the batsmen, hitting his 2nd 50 in a row, now averaging over 50 for the season as well. Mark ground out a solid 36 at 3, and I finally managed to get more than 2 runs in an innings for the first time this season. We knew we would have to bowl well to defend, especially since we were essentially a bowler down due to the late changes to the sides the week before. Ranga bowled the house down in this first spell, taking 2 wickets in his 3rd over to leave them at 2/8. What preceded then was increasingly frustrating, for reasons both in and out of our control. Their number 3 could not hit the ball off the square. We dropped him twice, but he didn't make us pay at all. Their number 4 however, started scoring boundaries at will, most of them in the air, most of them within 2 metres of a fielder. He just rode his luck all the way through the day. When Duncs finally knicked off the No. 3 for 16 in the 27th over, they were 3/95. The number 4 passed 100 with the score on 132, with Voyzey finally getting the breakthrough to get him for 104 with the score on 139. We managed to take a few more wickets, but with only 35 runs left to get they just swung for the fences, getting away with it most of the time. Their next top score was 16, which just shows how much they relied on him. Disappointing in many ways, as we were basically beaten by one man on his own, and if we get lucky early against him it's a very different game. Disappointing to give a few chances in the field, considering how well we fielded the previous game against Cove. End result is we have now only won 1/4 so far, but sit 6th on the ladder less than a game behind 3rd. All 3 games we lost were winnable, so we just need to keep improving and making better accounts of ourselves on game day. Big session at training on Thursday for selections. Morphettville Park II 8-173 Kym Woodward 64 Mark Voyzey 36 Caleb Rybalka 21 Sheidow Park II 6-176 Mark Voyzey 2/30 Andrew Smith 2/48 Anosh Vakeel 1/17 Matthew Duncan 1/30 Cheers, Caleb

08.01.2022 A Grade match report vs. Sheidow Park After a lengthy journey South, we arrived at what I’m told is the suburb of Sheidow Park to play a top-of-the-table clash against their undefeated team. We won the toss and elected to bat. However due to some poor shots and some good bowling we had another top order collapse and were staring down the barrel at 5/50. Then Matthew Wolfenden and Kevin Brokensha came to the crease and slowly turned the momentum of the game by sedulously denyi...ng their attack. They batted for about 30 overs to put on a partnership of 66 which allowed out tailenders to swing freely and take the score past 160. Brokensha finished with 35, Wolfenden with 23 and Landorf with 25 not out. The following week, as the team’s eminence grise, I took over captaincy duties from Aaron. I thought all bowlers bowled well and created chances. Wickets didn’t fall in succession, but due to some tight bowling they never really got away from us. At the tea break they were 4/115 only needing another 50 to win. But then the two openers Fishwick and Landorf both picked up a wicket in their first over after tea. They continued to fight hard and a couple of small partnerships took them to 7/152 only requiring 15 for victory. However two quick wickets from Fishwick and Roocke put the pressure back on them. The game ended a couple of balls later when Brokensha threw down the stumps from deep mid-wicket to win us the game. Fishwick bowled well all day with 4/30 from 11, Roocke 2/21, Wolfenden 2/35 and Landord 1/29. Man of the match Matt Wolfenden for his all-round effort of 23 and 2/35. A very good win against a previously undefeated side. That leaves us equal top of the ladder with our next week’s opponent Coromandel. So another big game coming up. Good look to Dion Gregory who takes the reins next week, provided the doctors have been able to sew his leg back on. Dan Voyzey.

04.01.2022 To our valued Supporters, Members and Players (our Roos Family), As you are aware, it has been just over 12 months since the MPSC has been trading and COVID-19... aside, there was a good reason for this as you all know. The full re-build of our brand new Club & change rooms are now complete and look amazing! We feel very lucky and proud to call it our Club and we hope youll all feel the same. Despite getting the vast majority of items on our wish list, there are still a few items that are required to put the finishing touches on our fantastic new facility. So as a Committee we thought the best way to raise the funds required to add the finishing touches required would be to do what most other footy Clubs have also done in the wake of COVID-19, and put a call out to our vast & valued Roo Family to make a donation and help us with the finishing touches. Your donation will be tax deductible (handy, considering June 30 is fast approaching!). Were hoping to raise in the vicinity of $10,000, with the funds received to be put towards purchasing the below items: 2 x defibrillator machines for emergencies (one for Clubrooms and one for our Medical room) Gym equipment for our new Gym which will be available for all of our players and members to use Computer and Printer for our officials and volunteers to use as required Cost-effective outdoor heating for our supporters comfort on cold wintery days/nights Coffee machine for our Canteen and general Club use An additional Point of Sale system for our canteen If you are able to help you can donate at any time by simply clicking on the link https://asf.org.au/projects/morphettville-park-sporting-club and then the yellow donate button. You will receive a tax-deductible gift receipt from the Australian Sports Foundation to include in your tax return. Every donation counts and all donations, big or small are sincerely appreciated were very grateful for your ongoing support and loyalty in our mission to make our great Club the envy of all others! If you have any questions about this project or donating please contact us at [email protected]. We thank you in advance for your generosity. MPSCC Committee

02.01.2022 As you know, we are commencing pre-season training on Sunday morning. To ensure we comply with current COVID requirements, we ask that all players review our 'Return to Training' document. Most of these points should now be familiar to everyone but of particular note is the sharing of equipment, which is now not permitted. So please ensure you bring your own gloves, pads, etc. We also now have several COVID Marshalls trained to ensure a COVID representative is present for all... cricket activities and for our ongoing compliance. Further COVID-related information for return to play, including what will be expected of spectators, will be provided in the coming weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact Sandra Brokensha ([email protected]) or raise them with any other Cricket Committee member.
01.01.2022 Hey everyone, With the Covid 19 situation getting pretty serious, events shutting down and places going into lockdown, we as a club will be cancelling the Good Friday Golf day. It's not a decision we have made lightly but we believe it's in the best interest for everyone. We will be back next year and we'll make it a cracking day!... Cheers, MPCC Committee

01.01.2022 B Grade match report Round 2 v Happy Valley First home game for the year, and following tradition we lost the toss and were sent into the field. We bowled well overall, with some quite poor umpiring (cough) and 3 dropped catches in the space of 8 overs being the difference in totals in the end. Pick of the bowlers was Sam Tucker who picked up 3/20 off his 8 overs, seriously troubling every batsmen that faced him. Matt Wolfenden found his rhythm as well this week, starting str...ong after a shaky first over and closing out the innings bowling serious pace with the breeze, taking 2/32. Although their individual top score was only 27, they still finished on 9/179. Special mentions to Anosh Vakeel for a incredible one handed catch at gully, 2 overs after shelling an absolute sitter off the same batsmen, and Jordan Porter for getting someone out Hit Wicket when he tried to cut a slower ball and ended up taking middle stump out of the ground. We started our innings poorly, losing our first 2 wickets for 4 runs. Kym and Trav consolidated again, both falling to stunning outfield catches as they tried to up the tempo. We once again went down swinging, Wolf adding some respectability to the total with a quick 42 of 35 balls. In the end, we fell 28 runs short at 9/151 after our 40. Frustrating to have basically the same result play out 2 weeks in a row, hopefully a switch to the 2 day format will play to our strengths a bit more moving forward. Happy Valley II 9/179 Sam Tucker 3/20 Matt Wolfenden 2/32 Morphettville Park II 9/151 Matt Wolfenden 42 Kym Woodward 36 Travis Hebbard 31
01.01.2022 Unfortunately Western Youth have forfeited the match against our D Grade. Great opportunity to get a few pre Grand Final beers under your belt down at the cricket club and support the A Grade against Port Noarlunga.
