We took the vehicle for a drive for some data and seen the issue straight away. Straight onto the dyno for a custom tune both for the engine and transmission calibration. This vehicle tows 2.9t around Australia and required correct tuning for reliability as well as hassle free travelling across the co...untry. No flash and run but a full diagnostic check over found a few interesting code changes. We see many vehicles with flash tunes but no results due to lack of diagnostic experience. 06.01.2022 No car park flashing for this 370k old 200 series. We hear all the time developed tunes don’t need a dyno well we 100% disagree. This is a perfect example. Commanded boost different, fuelling change etc. If this vehicle was car park flashed it would have ended in a blown up motor. Not only is a dyno a tuning tool it also is a diagnostic tool. We log ALL parameters of the Toyota code and we picked up faults with this vehicle. Don’t be fooled, if the guy flashing your v...ehicle doesn’t have control over your tune or does not log vital parameters you run the risk of damage.
