22.01.2022 We find a two day #stockmanship #workshop works well with the #saleayard #teams as we get to be heavily involved in the day to day handling on #sale day, as well as supporting the practical element with theory and demonstrations when the teams aren't flat out working. AAM Investment Group - Central Victoria Livestock Exchange - CVLX at Ballarat, Victoria is a very busy site bringing in some huge numbers so it was important to be practical and very fluid with this #training. O...ur visit was incredibly welcomed by the team here along side their counterparts at Corangamite Regional Livestock Exchange - CRLX. We were especially impressed with the committed to and though provoking discussions regarding team culture and feeling psychologically safe in the work place. We believe in training #holistically and strive to develop teams that handle livestock with focus on team development, safety, animal welfare, animal behaviour and handling in an interactive, progressive and practical way. 18.01.2022 Last stop on our southern was to visit our #friends at Princess Royal Station near Burra, South Australia, Australia. What a beautiful spot to work cattle! This young team is working everyday to develop their skillset working with #cattle and it was a pleasure to work along side and encourage them during this three day visit. We spent significant time discussing #animalbehaviour (what cattle like and what they don't like) and how to apply that to our handling methods. We had... a great time #acclimating and in pen #exercising (check out short snippet of video in comments) with the team getting a really good handle on #pressure and #release, working a square inside a square, #leading cattle and #guiding them where to go. In particular the importance of getting to where those cattle want to be before they get there in the case that you lose control of the lead. This is particularly important at this yard as we do everything on foot and we need to save our legs! 17.01.2022 When working with livestock, changing our habits to adapt new handling methods is one of the most difficult tasks to overcome. We may WANT to stop whistling or using random voice cues unnecessarily, however our habitual nature is making it VERY difficult for us. Understanding how we develop habits, changing them through cues and rewards and focusing on developing our will power is a step toward habit changing success! 11.01.2022 We've got good news and we've got sad news... The good news is we got to talk all things livestock, safety, production and team development with some great new friends at the Carcoar, New South Wales Saleyards. The good vibes are still flowing from having the opportunity to spend two whole days with this great team of caregivers at HRLX thanks to AAM Investment Group. We're super impressed by this groups commitment to improving the working environment for the people and the ...livestock. Stockmanship, Safety and Animal Welfare is the focus at their Saleyard Facilities and they're working hard to meet those commitments. We can't wait to work cattle with ya'll again soon! Unfotunately the sad news is that it could be a little while until we do that. We've had to postpone the rest of our tour through NSW and VIC for the time being. We are committed to improving the handling and welfare of all animals however we also have a responsibility to help slow the spread of COVID19. Staying home for the time being is the best way to do that. In the mean time, we're working on some webinar projects so stay tuned for this change of pace!

08.01.2022 Our recent visit to Killara Feedlot at Quirindi, NSW showed us what the team and the cattle there have to deal with during these cold winter months. The caregivers, horses and cattle do a great job to perform, stay productive and positive when times are tough and extra care is taken to ensure every being is cared for. Below is an early morning picture with the mist hanging low. We can't curse the rain but we can sure cuss the wind!
