24.01.2022 As you know... at #MortgageChoiceMalvern we have always been strong supporter of men’s and women’s ice hockey in #SouthAustralia and have been ongoing sponsors of the Adelaide Adrenaline Ice Hockey Club and Adelaide Rush Ice Hockey Club’s. So... last night our son Chris, at the ripe old age of 16, played his debut game of ice hockey at the highest local level being Premier League in SA. I won’t give away the score but I’m proud to say he managed to hold his own and at 16yrs ok’d is a way better player than his old man ever was (even in my hay day) or will ever be! He’s #14 on the red team! So here’s a link to the professional game livestream which is also broadcast on Kayo on Wednesday nights and you’ll note from the signs on the boards in the livestream that we are still supporting the game! 24.01.2022 So the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has met today as they do on the first Tuesday of the month. There were those that thought that rates could drop a further 0.1% p.a. today however the RBA have just announced they will leave RATES ON HOLD at the historic low of 0.25% p.a. for another month.

19.01.2022 This just through this morning from Commonwealth Bank... Today Commonwealth Bank is announcing: > 100 bps reduction to 1.99% p.a. on new 4 year Fixed Rate home loans for Owner Occupiers paying Principal and Interest in the Wealth Package. This is CBA’s lowest ever advertised home loan rate; > 15 bps reduction to 2.14% p.a. on new 2 and 3 year Fixed Rate home loans for Owner Occupiers paying Principal and Interest in the Wealth Package; ... > 10 bps reduction to 2.19% p.a. on new 1 year Fixed Rate home loans for Owner Occupiers paying Principal and Interest in the Wealth Package; > 2.99% p.a. secured and 3.99% p.a. unsecured business loan rates through the Government’s SME Guarantee Loan Scheme, a reduction of up to 51 bps; > 2.49% p.a. rates on new 3, 4 and 5 year fully secured BetterBusiness loans, a reduction of approximately 50 bps; > These rates are effective 11 November 2020. Yesterday’s move by the RBA will lower the structure of interest rates and provide confidence that Australians can borrow over the long term at historically low rates. We have reflected this in our interest rate settings, offering customers our lowest ever fixed rate 1.99% p.a. fixed for 4 years providing customers who fix some or all of their home loan with certainty and confidence into the future. For customers looking for additional flexibility, they can consider splitting and fixing some of their loan. We also recognise that many Australian households with deferred home loan repayments feel uncertain about the ongoing financial impact of the pandemic. For Owner Occupier customers who made their home loan repayments on time for at least 12 months prior to their deferral, but are unable to recommence their full repayments, we will ensure they can remain in their home until at least September 2021.

Great to hear though in these COVIDSafe times that the IceArenA is undergoing massive renovations so watch this space and it will be reopening soon... bigger and better than before for hockey, figure, general skating and snow play! Ever since I was 14yrs old I’ve always thought it was the coolest place... in town even working there for many years before moving to Darwin. For those oldies out there that remember Freddie the Penguin, and then later Freddie’s Mum Fredricka, yep... all me! Ya gotta love a chicken dance on skates when you can’t really see where ya going! Greg of course is pretty happy as well with his ice hockey ASL Summer League season kicking off on the 17th December for his team the mighty... Adelaide Blades! 17.01.2022 RATE ON HOLD... Whilst we all know there's lots going on in the world at the moment there's not a lot happening in Australia when it comes to the official cash rate. So at today's meeting of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) the official cash rate has been kept on hold once again at the record low of 0.25%. ... Off the back of low interest rates and the current available government grants we are currently receiving record enquiry surrounding how people can capitalize on what is available, however due to COVID-19 banks have been forced to restructure their staff & processing departments so we have been experiencing some delays with lender approval. So please be patient as the lenders work themselves out during this difficult time.

14.01.2022 AUSTRALIAN RBA CASH RATE - LOWEST EVER So... it seems on this Melbourne Cup Day the 3rd of November 2020 the RBA has decided to drop our cash rate even further to a RECORD LOW of 0.1% (down from 0.25%). I've gotta say... I've been in Banking & Finance for over 30yrs and I never thought I'd see the day. The plan of course is to try and make money more accessible in an effort to get people to spend more which should in theory assist in pulling the country out of recession but lets see how that goes. The problem is that the money needs to be SPENT HERE IN AUSTRALIA so if you really want to help... 12.01.2022 No News is Good News... The #ReserveBankOfAustralia met earlier today and the RBA cash rate has been held at 0.1% once again. This marks another month in which the RBA has kept the rate at the lowest possible amount without entering into negative territory. So... the cash rate has been at this same level since November 2019 and with the RBA publicly stating that the rate will not move until 2024, this news came as no surprise. Just remember though that the Federal Budget is d...ue next week so let's watch this space. Have a great week!

09.01.2022 LOCKDOWN UPDATE... So we’ve come full circle and back working from the purpose built home office where our business first started nearly 20yrs ago! Just a little more colour these days as converted to a man cave after we opened the office all those years ago. And what a novelty working with daytime TV going in the background and able to have a swim at lunch time with the kids! So Corey & Greg are working from home but there was a mad scramble yesterday to get things in plac...e as of course as we can not head back to the office for 6 days as the government have confirmed we are not considered to be an essential service. Having said that... we think we are and so do many of our clients! So, all client meetings will be converted to phone and Zoom but please be patient with us and please remember that many banks are in the same boat with their staff and that everyone is doing their best! 05.01.2022 So further to our post yesterday... we set up late in the afternoon in our office to watch the MFAA National Awards with our very own Megh winning a spot as a National Finalist in the category of Community Champion. Whilst Megh unfortunately wasn't the winner on the night she's still a Champ to us as well as to all the kids she has helped down at the Women's and Children's Hospital in her quest to raise badly needed funds to refurbish the school located in the hospital. What... we can say is the lady who won the national award was involved in helping those involved with domestic violence in the community which is also a very worthy cause and we congratulate her on her win and recognition and we reckon Megh must have come a VERY CLOSE second! So... you are an absolute LEGEND Meghers! Congratulations on your achievement... YOU'RE AWESOME and I know you are already talking about the next activities on your agenda in your quest to support the community!
