16.01.2022 Government pushed to introduce $50k grant for buyers of newly-built homes Australia's peak property body is lobbying the government to provide a $50,000 grant to buyers of newly constructed dwellings. The Property Council of Australia has proposed the 'New Home Boost' grant as part of its seven-point plan to the National Cabinet for kick starting construction and the economy.... Under the proposed scheme, the $50,000 grant would be limited to the first 50,000 purchasers of newly-built homes across the country, requiring an estimated $2.5 billion in federal government funding. Unlike many of the first home buyer grants of between $7,000-$20,000 administered by state governments, the proposed grant would not have a property price cap It would require commencement between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021, with a view to review the scheme on 1 December this year.
