25.01.2022 MHS GREAT BAKE OFF! Take 32 packets of cake mix, almost 2kg margarine, 3kg butter, over 5kg icing sugar, a multitude of food colours, lengths of licorice rope, many cups of smarties and other assorted sweets, 5 hours and 32 students. 25.01.2022 LIFE IN THE TRENCHES This term year 9 has been learning about World War One. Their assessment task was to create an artefact related to life in the trenches for Australian soldiers during World War 1. Students were encouraged to be creative with materials to create an historically accurate artefact appropriate to the WWI era, and have done an impressive job. The artefacts are currently on display in the library for all year groups and teachers to peruse.
25.01.2022 DAFFODIL DAY Moruya High School SRC has organised a Daffodil Day event this Friday 28th August. Students are encouraged to wear yellow or green and bring a gold coin donation if out of uniform. The SRC will also be selling cupcakes for $2 at recess. All money raised will go to the Cancer Council.

22.01.2022 CHRISTMAS SPIRIT STARTS AT SCHOOL Students and staff got right into the Christmas spirit on Friday 4 December with lots of Santas, elves, reindeers, xmas presents and even tinsel people. The SRC and Prefects held the gold coin mufti day and raised a considerable donation to the Smith Family. Lots of fun was had by all on the day including many xmas jokes.
22.01.2022 FRIENDLY COMPETITION The Moruya High School junior debating teams versed each other this week in round 1 of the 'Premier's Debating Challenge'. All students spoke with confidence and shared compelling arguments on the topic 'that year 7 and 8 should only have to take English, maths, science, history and geography'. Congratulations to Farrah, Annaleise, Georgia, Caitlin, Lucy, Kailee, Jessica and Sina on a fantastic first debate.

21.01.2022 NAIDOC FAMILY FISHING FUN DAY Katungul is running a NAIDOC Family Fishing Fun day from 8:30am to 4:30pm on Friday the 13th of November. There will be a welcome to country, traditional dances, sausage sizzle lunch, and a game of touch footy. There are also prizes for the fishing competition with the winner receiving a $750 BCF voucher. Registration will be held on the day until 10:30am and is compulsory.
18.01.2022 THANK YOU CONNELLY IRWIN - 'BILLY'S GIFT' Moruya High School would like to thank Connelly Irwin 'Billy's Gift', whose generous donation has enabled the wellbeing team to deliver teen Mental Health First Aid to all year 11 students. Our students will now be equipped with skills to recognise and help a friend who is experiencing mental health difficulties.
18.01.2022 SASS RECOGNITION WEEK On behalf of Moruya High School, we would like to thank our hard-working SASS (School Administration and Support Staff) for dedicating their time and effort to keep the school running in these challenging times. We devote this week to the appreciation of the ladies & gentleman in the office, library, prep lab, support unit, prep kitchen and maintenance staff for making our school run like clockwork. 17.01.2022 LOADS OF FUN AT THE COLOUR RUN What a fun run it was! Did you see any of our colourful students or staff in the streets on Wednesday afternoon? The Colour Run was a truly enjoyable event for both staff and students, celebrating National Health & Physical Education Day. Students wore white t-shirts, while staff wore white lab coats that were sprayed with vibrant colours as they ran laps around the school. The smiles on staff and student’s faces showed just how successful the run was. A day of excitement was well deserved after a challenging year, providing happy and positive enjoyment for all involved.
15.01.2022 IT’S YOUR TURN In Physical Education lessons Year 9 and Year 10 students have been involved in planning, designing and implementing practical activities and round robins for others to enjoy. They have discovered the many components that make a lesson or sport successful and have been allocated duties such as umpire, coach, player, scorer and publicity officer.
14.01.2022 FAREWELL ASSEMBLY FOR YEAR 12 The farewell assembly for Year 12 will be held on Friday 25 September at 10:05 am. Due to COVID restrictions only Year 12 students and some teachers can attend, however the assembly will be recorded and available on You Tube for viewing in the days following.
14.01.2022 YEAR 10 EXAM TIMETABLE Year 10 exams will run from the 12th of November until the 16th of November. All students will have received their timetable and should have a copy in their school email. 14.01.2022 SETTING UP THE FUTURE Volleyball training has ramped up for our school athletes as they get prepared for upcoming games and next year's competitions. Mr. Northey, the girls volleyball coach and Mr. Edenborough, the boys volleyball coach, ran through tactics, drills and game strategies so they can jump into the competition at Bomaderry, on December first, well prepared. The girls coach, Mr. Northey commented, "This year is a very important time, we can prepare for the competition coming up and focus on future games in 2021." We wish our volleyballers all the best for their Bomaderry matches and hope they are as successful as the teams have been in previous years.

13.01.2022 R U OK DAY Thursday 10th of September is R U OK Day. During roll call lessons next week students will learn about 'there's more to say after R U OK'. There will be a TEACHERS ALL STARS vs STUDENTS dodgeball match at lunchtime on Thursday. How do students participate in this match? Students can purchase tickets to enter the draw to play in the match. Tickets are $1.00 each with a maximum limit of 5 tickets ($5.00) per student. The draw will take place on Tuesday and students ...will be advised on Wednesday if they were successful in obtaining a place on the student's team. If you do not wish to participate in the draw, donations can still be made. Prefects from the SRC will collect money on Friday 4th September and Monday 8th September during roll call. The funds raised will be used for the R U OK Day donation and establishing wellbeing initiatives at Moruya High School. The SRC will also be selling Paddle Pops for $2.00 at recess and lunch from the canteen on the day of the match.
12.01.2022 #YOURCAKE CHALLENGE Next week, a handful of year 9 and 10 Food Technology students will be taking part in the #yourcake challenge to raise funds for Youngcare. This charity focuses on providing facilities for young adults with high care needs so that they can do so with others who are in the same stage of life. Currently, young adults with high support needs are often placed into aged care homes, feeling further isolated from people who they can relate to. Our students have ...been set the task of recreating a cake from the famous Australian Women's Weekly Children's Birthday Cake cookbook, which this year celebrates 40 years since its first publication. 12.01.2022 TEE-RRIFIC Year 10 are currently working on their Promoting Our Health assessment task in PDHPE. This involves designing a Tee shirt that will promote awareness for common health issues that impact young Australians. We are looking forward to seeing the finished products.
12.01.2022 BRAIN DISSECTION Mr Norris' Science class listen intently to Mrs Marshall demonstrating a brain dissection. Agriculture teacher Mrs Marshall is a qualified vet with specialized knowledge of animal control systems. As you can see the year 9's benefited from her specialized knowledge.
11.01.2022 TUNING INTO TEENS Campbell Page is running a free 6-week program that will walk you through how to help your teenager manage their emotions, deal with conflict in a productive way, have more stable relationships, cope with peer pressure and manage their mental health. The program will also provide you with information on understanding teens behaviour, discover methods of self care, learn how to emotionally coach your teen and enhance your connection and communication.... 11.01.2022 YEAR 8 TACTILE INVENTIONS What a hoot when year 8 students displayed their textile items! Combining light circuits into their sewing and using a variety of fabrics in weaving, students have created wonderful items.
10.01.2022 WHAT'S IN OUR WATER SUPPLY Industry experts discussed various processes during the tour which students were able to apply to the theory discussed in class. A special thank you to Moruya Bowling Club for use of the courtesy bus and to Eurobodalla Shire Council for the tour.
08.01.2022 CONTROLLING THE ACTION Students from Moruya High School recently attended a rewards excursion to Jamberoo. Students had a blast racing down the slides, jumping off the rock and dropping into 'The Perfect Storm'. It was a fantastic way to end the year and acknowledge the respectful, responsible and aspirational students that make our school great!
08.01.2022 MHS is very proud to see some of our students involved in such an important event, the VP Parade at Moruya on Saturday. It is highly significant to remember those who fought for our country. Congratulations to Kayley Batley, Seath Morrison, Jessica Prince, Mackenzie Barnett-Hayes and Ethan Wilson-Mitchell for taking part, you should be extremely proud of yourselves.

06.01.2022 ROLE MODEL DAY Who would be your role model? Your dad, brother, sister or mum, maybe a teacher of your favourite subject. It might even be a sports star. The Prefects have organised a ‘dress as your role model’ day on Friday 11th September. A gold coin donation is required to dress as your favourite role model. There will be a dad joke competition for students and teachers, along with a best dressed competition. Funds raised will assist in providing anti-slip strips for stairs and updated numbering of class rooms.
05.01.2022 LASSAU LEADING THE WAY ON SHAVE FOR A CURE Year 7 student Hugh Lassau hair went under the shaver on Monday afternoon to raise funds for the World's Greatest Shave. Hugh raised over $1000 for the cause which is a great achievement. Well done Hugh!
