25.01.2022 Rat bait acts as an anticoagulant (prevents clotting of the blood) by depleting the body's supply of Vitamin K. It can take anything from 1 to 5 days days afte...r ingestion to begin to see the signs of intoxication. Signs of intoxication with ratbait can range from pin point haemorrhages on the gums to frank bleeding from anywhere. When our clotting system is not working these minute traumas are not repaired and continue to bleed and may result in any of the following: * pale gums or small pin point haemorrhages on the gums. * Lethargy * bruising under the skin * bleeding from the nose * continued bleeding from small wounds * vomiting and or diarrhoea * coughing or respiratory difficulties (laboured or rapid breathing) If you see your pet eating, or notice signs that your pet may have eaten rat bait it is important to bring them straight to the vet. If you have a box of bait, bring this with you. Treatment for rat bait poisoning is with Vitamin K and if the condition is caught early enough is usually effective. Poisons and pets don't mix, not to mention the damage done to our local wildlife. Owls, eagles, kookaburras and snakes will readily eat any slow moving or even dead rat or mouse that they find. 08.01.2022 Rawhide chews for dogs are TOXIC! Please... choose a better option... like any 'single ingredient' treat... JUST a chicken strip... JUST a fish bite... JUST shark cartlidge... etc. Great for dogs teeth too!
