25.01.2022 MORE CHRISTMAS TURKEYS. Two more adult Turkeys saved from the Christmas dinner table. Winston has welcomed Pearl and Lilac 2 lovely ladies to accompany him in life at the farm. Soon they will free range at the farm during the day but first they will stay in their coop for a few days to acclimatise to Morvern Valley and get to know each other. Lilac not only eats from your hand but also lets you give her a good pat too! Lavender turkeys are critically endangered.... Pearl a white turkey - is a little more wary, but with lots of hand feeding and seeing the treats Lilac and Winston enjoy up close she will soon come up to us for sure - she is slightly younger after all! 25.01.2022 INTRODUCING A NEW FARM ACTIVITY The Kilner business was first established by John Kilner in 1842, England. Initially producing glass bottles and jars, it was towards the end of the 19th century when the original Kilner Jar was first invented. The original jar is as much-loved and successful now as it was 175 years ago. We now have a Kilner butter churn in each Morvern Valley Cottage - show your kids how butter was made at the farm throughout the decades. Bring whipping cream and in just 15 minutes room temperature whipping cream will turn into lovely fresh homemade butter.

23.01.2022 Beautiful Bundanoon all these lookouts just 3 minutes drive away from Morvern Valley or a 10 minute walk. Glow Worm Glen is closed at the moment as the bushfires burnt down the lower access stairs but no doubt will be rebuilt soon.

23.01.2022 ** Be aware ** I ordered a Chinese delivery from a local place (I won't name them) just got it contactless delivered. I placed it on kitchen work top and as I was getting plates , I heard the bags rustling and moving!! I thought what the hell is that. Has something got in the bag? I thought I could see a little pair of eyes peering out at me. I was so scared as the bag was moving around I leaned forward, picked up the bag, put it on the floor broom in one hand and there it wa...s again, more rustling and little eyes looking out behind the prawn crackers, I thought its got to be a rat or a mouse or something, so I carefully pulled the bag down ... And there it was .... ... A Peeking Duck!!

03.01.2022 Morvern Valley has just purchased an exceptional 320 egg incubator for spring for our ducks geese peacocks and chicken eggs. The trouble with buying chicks is that chicks are sexable, anyway inevitably you get sold more rooster chicks than hens... This incubator does everything fully automatically - turning the eggs every 90 minutes just like a mamma hen would, controls the humidity and has full air circulation, and the base shelf is used for hatching too. Fingers crossed it... works well, we have tried a couple of the 56 egg incubators in the past couple of years but not a great success. I was interested in buying this model as it looks in format VERY similar to a model that worked with a very high hatch rate for 7 years many years ago. A thrilling (but expensive) acquisition for the farm today! !!!

02.01.2022 A wonderful event is happening at Morvern Valley tomorrow! Alecia is getting her very first black horse an experienced dressage mare from West Victoria named 'Flicka'. She's a 'true' black with wonderful conformation, and a real smoocher. It was a very hard search to find the right horse, she will be arriving tomorrow morning at her 'forever' home at Morvern Valley. Welcome to FLICKA !

02.01.2022 A young city couple are driving down a country lane on their way to visit their farm stay one day. They suddenly come to a muddy patch in the road and don’t stop in time, so the car becomes bogged down and stuck. After a few minutes of trying to get the car out by themselves, they see a young farmer coming down the lane, driving some cattle in front of him.... The young farmer stops when he sees the couple in trouble and offers to use the cattle to pull the car out of the mud for $50. The husband accepts and a few minutes later the car is free. Afterward, the farmer says to the husband, You know, you’re the tenth car I’ve helped out of the mud today. The husband looks around at the paddocks and asks the farmer, But when do you have time to plough your land? At night? The young farmer says, Oh no. Night is when I put the water in the hole.

01.01.2022 A Turkey for Christmas! Winston the turkey, is a purebred White Broad Chested Turkey bred for the table for their delicious tender meatiness. We just went down in the paddocks to check he was settling in fine to the farm and his farm mates. I had raison bread with me and he was eating out of my hand.... He's social and friendly and will free range at the farm... Turkeys are just so prehistoric looking! But seriously, he won't be gracing the table of anyone, he's had a royal reprieve or presidential pardon, and will live out his life peacefully getting lots of treats and attention at Morvern Valley Farm.
