25.01.2022 Rob Semmler Club Coach - Jordan Campbell A Grade Captain ---------------------------------- It gives us great pleasure in announcing Robert Semmler as Club Coach and Jordan Campbell as A grade captain for season 2020/21. Both guys will be working closely together in their roles to install professionalism as well as enjoyment into our cricket at both training and on game day. In a season which will be unlike never before it is great to have two loyal clubmen leading us forwar...d. Jordan joined the club in 2016 after venturing over from England and has totally embraced the club in his time with us, top scoring in the 2018 Grand Final Premiership victory. Rob joined the club way back in 1994 at junior level and in recent seasons has coached both football and underage cricket teams, as well as leading our 2nd Grade team to premiership glory in 2018, experiences that we believe will have him well placed to organize us through these challenging times with innovative training sessions that will be required for the coming season. The club will endeavor to keep everyone up to speed on when we can begin preseason and guidelines which will need to be followed. We also have many roles within the club which need filling for the season. New Committee Members, Team Managers, Lower Grade Captains and most importantly Junior Coaches as some positions are available. Please see Craig Giddens, Mark Smith, Rob or Jordan if you are interested. See more

This club includes 7 Grand Final performances (although only 6 of them were on the winning side) and 4 semi final efforts. 13.01.2022 This weekend for A Grade its a rumble in the Jungle with 2 games against our fellow big cats. Saturday on our Turf we play "one of the other Tigers" in Mirboo North. Mirboo North joined the CGCA in 2004 but our history against them goes way back to 1886 when we first played them. All up our record stands at 15 wins to us... 20 losses 5 draws so we owe them a few, last season we split it at one game a piece. While on Sunday we travel over to Ted Summerton Reserve to play the Moe Lions. Our rivalry with Moe "only" goes as far back as 1889, but we have played them more than any other team in our clubs A Grade history, with the Centenary Cup (pictured) again up for grabs, currently Moe hold the Cup having won the most recent A Grade game between our clubs. Two seasons ago (we did not play Moe last season as they were not in our division) we played Moe for the 200th time in our A Grade history (this does not include the various times both clubs have had 2 teams in A Grade, and is simply Morwell v Moe games). All up the record stands at 91 wins to Morwell 82 losses 27 draws 1 tie Back in 2018/19 we split it at 1 win each as well. Good Luck on the weekend and Go Tigers! See more

06.01.2022 A fair bit has been happening at the club during the off season.

06.01.2022 What a day this was, 2 years ago

05.01.2022 This weekend marks a momentous occasion in our club’s 141 year history when Mark Smudger Smith breaks the MCC’s all time games record overtaking an icon of our club Colin Mouse Mahoney. Mark will be walking out for game 476 a terrific effort. Mark began his career in1986/87 in our under 16’s and despite a couple of years in the Northern Territory has been a constant at the Morwell Cricket Club ever since. He has made 8620 at a healthy average of 21.85, made 4 centuries and 40... half centuries. Whilst bowling and fielding aren’t his forte he has taken 97 wickets and 142 catches ( law of averages says he would of taken 1 out of every 3 chances ). Smudger is a dual premiership player opening the batting in the 2002/03 First Grade flag and most recently being an important member of the club’s latest 3rd grade winning team. Mark was made a Life Member of our great club in the mid 90’s and has been awarded our best clubman 4 times. Mark has been forever our junior coordinator, coach and has shaped our junior program for many years. A vital member of our executive as well he controls all grants we have been lucky to receive to make the Morwell Cricket Club a better place for its players and members. Congratulations Mark still a few years left See more
